I want to overclock my laptop but I do not know how, is there some kind of software I need? If so, where can I get it?
I have a 8930G with Q9000 2ghz 6mb 1066fsb
Graphics is geforce 9600m gt 1gb
What safe levels do I stick to ?
Just want to get the best out of my machine, using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit (full licensed version)
I'm having problems trying to overclock my gpu.
I'm using the nvidia official beta drivers 178.28 IRC.
Ntune will install but if i try to run it my whole computer hangs. Its not in the control panel either. Rivatuner will let me move the sliders but it won't apply my clocks.
I have an Aspire 8930G which I am very happy with apart from a few minor issues. Music playback can be sometimes jerky, either iTunes or Media Player.
Was also thinking of overclocking it, what utilities and methods have other people used? I'd be really interested.
I have an 5920G laptop I want to upgrade some components on it in the future. I was thinking in the meantime, I want to try get as much as I can from the current processor, a T5550 (living tissue over metal endoskeleton)
I'm actually surprised information on how to do this is so scarce. Surely there is a way to overclock this model?
The current cpu temps dont really go past 60c, so I think I'm comfortable even if it raises another 20c or so. But I cant find a single method to alter the clockspeed.
So has anyone done it? Or knows how to go about doing it?
Overclocking the 8600 was a no-brainer, just requiring non mobile drivers, and I've been running it permanently overclocked to I since the day I got the laptop about 2 years ago with no issues.
Its about a 25-30% increase in performance across the board! To be honest I dont see why anyone should be without it. I couldn't stand using it at stock speeds.
A overclocked 8600 just barely made games playable at decent settings even 2 years ago, although thats getting a bit slack now also.
I really can't figure out why I can't overclock my GPU (in sig) while others with the same cards and even the 9200M GS can overclock theirs..so, fellow Acer-mates, are there any of you who have problems overclocking? Or are there any of you who at least had success doing so? Check this post for the details of the problem..
I'm looking into doing a review of the laptop, but not until I really really know my lappy from the inside out.
Just bought an Acer Aspire 6930Z for multimedia purposes but I wouldn't mind playing some low end games on this like Left 4 Dead but I know I need to overclock to at least play it on the bare minimum without lag.
My specs.
Intel T4200 @ 2GHz
3GB DDR2 RAM
GMA 4500MHD (LOL)
I have experience overclocking proper graphic cards with dedicated vram but for a onboard card, I have absolutely no idea. Can someone tell me what program I should use and what values I should use? RivaTuner is what I use normally. Please don't tell me to slowly raise the bar by bit by bit. I'm too lazy to spend that much time on a GMA. So can a 4500MHD overclocked user tell me his/her values used?
I'm a student who's looking for a laptop to use for only note taking, web browsing, and other low power programs. The most I might use out of a laptop is multi tabbed browsing (I already have a desktop replacement for gaming). Anyway, I saw the laptop Acer 5810 Aspire Timline today at Sam's Club for a cheap $497 (Seems like other places including internet sites sell them for $520 to $590). All the specs were pretty nice and the battery life looked great! The only thing that really let me down was the processor. It uses and SU intel processor, meaning it's a meant for low volt usage. In addition, it runs at a measly 1.3ghz! Do you think I can overclock it to atleast 1.6 - 18?

View 11 Replies View Relatedoverclocking the Intel Celeron 440 Processor on the Acer Aspire 3680. Here is a screenshot:
As you can see, I overclocked my friend's Acer Aspire 3680. The Celeron M 440 went from 1.86ghz to an amazing 2.35, for an increase of 490mhz! Now, this is definitely not going to be the most safe overclock, and it will consume a lot more power and heat up much quicker, but it is just to show how much you can overclock the Acer 3680.
Here is how I did it:
1. Download CPUCool. (Costs $18 to save your stuff, otherwise it won't for the shareware version)
CPUFSB did not work for me but it may work for you. It is free. Try it
2. Install CPU Cool and say yes to a desktop shortcut and running under windows start up. Now, restart your computer as it tells you too.
3. Go to Functions, change CPU FSB, and then select I don't know. A PLL drop down menu should show up.
4. Make sure it is ICS on the left. Then, go down and choose 954310 all the way at the bottom. Click fine tuning, click ok, and then it should show your frequency. If it doesn't show 1866, and a number less, then download Rightmark CPU Clock Utility and select throttling under profiles and set it to 100%. Unforunately you can't change the voltages.
5. Click fine tuning in CPU Cool, now it should show 1866mhz. Just add 60, 10, or .10 or so mhz by click + 60, +10, or just +. I recommend 2000mhz for the best balance of speed, power, and longevity.
6. Check both boxes as the right under Tray Frequency 1. Click set frequency, ok, and then minimize to tray. Do not close, because your clocks will be reset!....
Overclock or Underclock
-Download SetFSB
-Choose SLG8SP513v pll
-Click get FSB
-To underclock, select 100mhz (1.2ghz)
-To overclock, select 166mhz (2.0ghz)
Note: This only works if you have SLG8SP513v pll clock generator. If you have ICS9LPRS365. According to the acer aspire one service manual, these 2 clock generators are used. Acer might have also added some pll clock generator to the list, so it might not work for newer acer aspire one.
Undervolt Intel Atom processor
-Download CrystalCPUID
-Lock multiplier by either disabiling speedstep or enable speedstep to restricted the processor to 6x multipler (1.6ghz).
-Lower or increase the processor voltage
Overclock Intel GMA 950 graphic card
-download gmabooster
Did anyone manage to overclock the SU3500?

How do I go about overclocking and what are the safe limits for this model?
Oh and I just installed windows 7 ultimate and my windows performance went down from 6.9 (vista) to 2.4!
Over-clocking with RivaTuner. Right now I'm at 500Mhz for core, 1Ghz for shader and 425MHz for RAM.
On idle graphics card is at about 63C and processor at 33C with fan off.
To put some load on system, I used Intel BurnIn standard test and two instances of 64bit version of fluidsGL.exe from nVidia's Cuda SDK (acording to GPU-Z, the load on graphics card is about 93%). Mandelbrot.exe does put some more load on graphics card, but it closes as soon s application looses focus, so it isn't as convenient.
When I run tests, temperatures are around 85C for graphics card and 65C for processor.
I wanted to ask you how much should I overclock the graphics card and what are safe temperatures? I plan to use this laptop for few more years, so I do not wan to cook my graphics card.
Is there a way to overclock the CPU in my Vostro??? If so, what programs should I use to do this.

aswell is there anyway to OC my CPU?
15'' unibody. In XP now that I have decent temps, trying to overclock my GPU.
NVIDIA system tools does not show up on my control panel for some reason even though I installed it. Rivatuner is not detecting my GPU clock settings correctly nor is it changing them when I tell it to (I'm pretty sure).
Does anyone know what I should do to overclock my GPU?
I'm getting my E1705 back from repair tomorrow and I'm going to push the thing to it's limits. I used to frequent these forums before they were redesigned, and it seems my old user name is gone as well -- so I get to start back over.
Using I8kfangui, and a PA-13 or a PA-15 -- whats the easiest way to push the laptop to it's "safest" limits.
I noticed the "new" JuanLu bios lets you overclock via software now which is nice. Depending on my bios revision once I can check again, which should I pick? I hear of some folks using the GTX bios on the GS, but like I said -- I'm so out of the loop now that it's not funny.
I'll probably look into dropping a FX2500 in there at some point in the near future, is there a guide to hardmodding the E1705 like this?
Anyhow, if some veterans will chime in and give this newb all over again some guidance to do this right, let me know.
I will overclock my 7900GS, what i the best clock for my 7900gs( i had already flash my bios for the 7900, but i dont know witch max clock can i take)-- i will play Crysis, this lags!
View 15 Replies View RelatedI've had my E1705 for 4 months now, and I have unlocked my bios so that I can overclock my videocard. Now I want to see if I can overclock my CPU. It's a T7200, but unfortuanlly I can't find a thread on that any where.
View 11 Replies View Relatedi'm an owner of a m90, which i recently received from dell in substituion of an e1705.
Talking with abo, the developer of setFSB, it seems the m90 mounts a Cypress clock generator. There are real possibilities he can develop a version of setfsb that can interact with our notebook. The only thing we need now is the pll number (something like
cyxxxxx).
It's written on a chip on the motherboard. If someone can help me finding it, we will probably enjoy a new crysis experience
I have a e1705 Geforce go 7900gs oc'd to 450/600. Also I have the power supply that is included with the laptop 90watts. I have seen people here in forums that o'cd there card up to 600 core or more. I flashed my rom using the 375/507 to unlock my bios and then i use rivatuner to overclock my video card coz I want to know the limit of my card. And it reached 455/600 so i underclock it to 450 just for safe distance.
Now, I am using ntune to o'c my card and there is no testing whether it will work with the core I specified so I assume again that its 450/600.
My questions will be,
1. What is the max core/mem overclock that is safe for my 90 watts power supply w/o increasing the voltage to 1.24volts?
2. I create a profile in ntune that I enable the overclock (450/600) everytime I will play 3d games and I get it back (370/507) . Is that ok? Will it harm my videocard?
I got a rev 1 card. I am using a windows vista w/ dell performance driver, 2gb ram and 1.73ghz core duo cpu. Weird I got 152 increase in score in 2005 3dmark when using vista to xp . My score is 7196. And also I don't want to use nibitor to o'cd my card .
1. If I overclock my GPU's does that void my complete care warranty?
2. How can I overclock the 2nd GPU with RivaTuner?
3. How hard can I push the 8700's?
Can it be done? I have never dared to overclock a laptop due to them being so hot in the first place but i was wondering if anyone has tried on this laptop yet?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a FW-550 F/B (specs here: [url]. I want to overclock it to 600/800. After using Riva Tuner to set the clocks, I always run a FurMark stability test (1280x1024, 4xAA), while monitoring the temps with GPU-Z. It always crashes to a black screen (the monitor doesn't turn off, I just stop hearing anything and later I get a loud buzzing noise). The only solution is to do a hard reboot.
- It's not a temp. problem, sometimes it crashes at 60C, sometimes at 70C
- The GPU is not faulty, at normal clocks I beat Far Cry 2, Dead Space, RE5, Crysis, and Fallout 3 at pretty high settings without a single crash. All those games push the GPU load to 100% and temps go up to nearly 70C.
Some interesting things
- I had this problem in Mass Effect at normal clocks. I lowered the settings until it was almost pixelated but it persisted. I did some research and it seems i wasn't the only one, so I stopped playing the game until I could find a solution
- After this problem, I checked the Event Viewer. Apparently, they're all bluescreens. The description says "Display is not active'", with the source being "atikmdag.sys "
Maybe it's a driver issue?
if it is possible to safely overclock the 2.8 ghz cpu on a macbook pro to run at speeds above 3.0? Intel's website lists that the 2.8 ghz cpu has a "turbo" mode. Has anybody tried this? Also is it possible to safely overclock the GPU? has anybody tried it?
