I have an acer 5620z and the hard drive died. I replaced the hard drive and I have recovery cd's but I can't use them as it looks for partitions. I have read that I need to partition the hard drive first so I downloaded the DiskFormatDT_V1-1D.iso and installed it. during the process it didn't see the hard drive but it ran through with no errors (by the way the bios does see the hard drive).
After the disk format cd I tried the recovery cds and I get the 'no partition found error' so i am stuck. i know there is the PQService but I don't know what to do as I need to be able to partition the drive so i can run recovery cds. As it is a new disk Alt F10 etc wont work.
I have just recently re-installed windows 8.1 to my Acer Aspire ES1-711-C231 laptop, the touchpad was working fine before but since the re-install it is no longer recognised/detected by windows 8.1. I have download the device driver from the support page (Elantech touchpad) but still no joy.
I inserted a mobile broadband SIM card into the slot of my T431s, as described in the user manual. The SIM Card (EE 4G) works fine in my Huawei Mobile Wifi E589.
The Laptop is installed with WIN7 64bit Professional and all WIN7 updates are installed. I gave the laptop to ourĀ IT department, who called Lenovo Helpdesk and we got the reply that they can give us a brand new image of the harddisk which MAY fix it. Our IT department as well as myself tried everything including the obvious such as access connections. The WIFI module in access connections is greyed out. It seems that the SIM Card is not recognised. We tried also SIM cards from different providers, which do not work.
Having just spent some time installing my programmes and files, I am reluctant to have the whole laptop wiped and re-imaged....
I have a wireless network setup between my desktop w/xp pro an my laptop w/vista home preminum Acer 5570Z.
My laptop can open drives & folders on my desktop, but my desktop can't open drives or folders on my laptop it says I don't have permission. I fixed this once before but can't remember what I did.
I just installed XP Pro on my Acer Extensa 4630Z and I installed all the drivers successfully but the wireless driver. I tried all the drivers from acer's support site [url] none of them work. I also tried what worked for Davoucci with same laptop but this driver also doesn't work for me
I think something similar has been posted here before. In essence, I find that when I use my VX Revolution (or is it MX? Whichever one is the mobile version), the mouse occasionally loses its wireless connection to the computer, and so I have to click multiple times to get it to register.
This is annoying enough for me to consider getting a wired mouse, but I want to know if I get something like an MX518 if I'm still going to run into the disconnect/lag issue.
In other words, is it a wireless issue or a Logitech/PC/Mac conflict issue? I experienced both with and without the Logitech software installed. The software is currently installed.
if you have an older SZ and want to add a 3rd wire, this will show you how and where to put it.
So a while back I upgraded the the 4965AGN in my SZ750N to an Intel 5200, since that day, B&G has been noisy. I managed to arrange the antenna connections in such a way as to minimize it to within tolerable limits. I also talked to some experts and they said it wasn't going to hurt anything if there was a bit of static so I left it.
I have known for a while that is was the white antenna lead that was causing the static. Unfortunately disconnecting it caused a drop in signal. While working on my Windows 7 guide I had a problem and had to open the laptop. While doing so I noticed the white lead and the antenna it attached to. I hadn't ever really noticed where it sat before. Sony couldn't have hardly chosen a worse place for it.
Sony decided the best place for it, and I assume this is because they merely upgraded the old 2 wire wireless to 3 by adding this, is almost under the power button. Right next to... a speaker. The lead runs along a Speaker wire and puts the antenna right next to it. See pics 1 & 2................
Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 (64-Bit) (problem is also there with Windows 7)
I sometimes try to connect to a network, then the wireless led suddenly orange although Wireless is Enabled. My friend who has an XP system can connect to that network in the cafe just fine so does everybody else, but on my system, it says connecting, then the icon turns orange as if there was no wirelesss card installed.
I am using the Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN v12.2.0.11 Driver which was installed through Windows Update along with HP Wireless Assistant v3.50.2.1
Now I have an orange icon for wireless, although wireless is enabled in both device manager and through the touch key.
the icon will turn blue if I restart and wireless access will be restored, but I will lose it again if I try to connect to a wireless network.
I've downgraded plenty of units, and installed XP literally hundreds of times. I got a Aspire 7730Z, with Vista Premium SP1 and b/c of a backward compatibility issue, figured I'd put XP on it. Reformatted with XP Home SP2, after changing bios to deal with IDE, all went ok. Started with Intel chipset drivers, went to video, nic, etc, all the way through, Device Manager showed no problems or conflicts.
But, the wireless will not connect - its as if theres a switch turning off the wireless. To troubleshoot, I swapped out the wireless with another similar chipset, then tried an Intel 3945. Same thing - wireless will not enable.
So something is preventing the wlan from working. I then installed DotNet and the Acer stuff. Acer eNet showed that I could enable the wlan, but it never sees any wireless networks. Again, as if a switch is turned off, but there is no physical switch here.
Tried the bios update but it changed nothing. Got another laptop in, and same thing.
I had ghosted the HDD before starting, so I went "back" to Vista and wireless is working again.
I have two questions my first one is my wireless internet, I have a switch that has a yellow light showing that it's connected wirelessly, before I formatted my computer I could move the switch and it would say wireless off or on. What do I need to download or do to fix this?
My second question is that I have bluetooth my bluetooth switch is beside my wireless, before it would glow blue, but now it does nothing and when I hit the switch bluetooth doesn't come on or off, and I installed the bluetooth driver for my laptop but it says bluetooth device not found when I hover over the icon in the right corner of my task bar.
just bought a computer: Acer Aspire 5739G wireless card: intel wifi link 5100 -all drivers up to date
when i started to connect my wireless network 9 feet away(it has full connection) it said could't connect to network. Then i desided to try right beside the router and it worked. then when i walked from the router(5 feet) the connection sais limited connection. 8 feet no connection the same happened when i tryed to do it at my friend.
I bought an Acer Aspire one, it is perfect, it works perfectly when connecting to the internet if i have the power supply plugged in.
I take the power supply out and the screen dims.... no internet, or the internet i have is working, non working.....
I have tried the settings, i have tried redoing the wireless connection... its just not happening! Im close to taking it back to the shop as i have only had it three weeks!
I have a 4810T (SU3500) and the wireless connection is giving me some issues. After a suspend or restart the wireless connection does not reconnect properly. Sometimes the icon says I'm connected but there is no data transfer. I have to disconnect/reconnect or turn off/turn on the wireless via the touch sensitive button. Once I do that the wireless connection is rock solid.
I'm using the newest Intel drivers and Bios version 1.23
I am installing Vista 32 for a friend on his Aspire 1810TZ. A very new model I believe.
As yet I havn't been able to sourse the correct Wifi drivers. The drivers from the Acer site (intel 5100 and Atheros) Fail. The Atheros drivers tell me that the card isnt present whilst the intel drivers tell me that they may not be compatible then after installing, the device is reported as working properly but the front switch fails to turn the wireless on and, no networks are found in range. The intel diagnostic software reports the wireless as being switched off and sometimes as being on but with no networks to scan.
Any ideas as to what wireless device is present in this model or whether I should be looking at the wireless switch itself as a source of the problem?
I have just instaled a new hard drive in a 3050 and i have installed windows xp, as it used to have vista. i have installed all the drivers for sound, card reader, graphics and all is good. But, i cannot get the wireless to work, even after instaling the drivers. it will work with a wireless dongle ok and go online.
got the laptop and everything works great except the wireless. It connects to wireless fine, but if it goes into standby mode (like when you shut the cover or leave it for a wile), I am not able to get the wireless mode to come on. I press the easy launch button that enables and disables the wireless. After pressing the button, it says wireless enabled or disabled, but nothing happens, the orange light does not come on, and it doesn't even try to connect. When I manually serach for networks, it doesn't see any.
It's like the wireless function is still disabled. I have no problem connecting if I reboot and no problems with other laptops connecting.
i recently got an Aspire 6930g , very nice lappy etc, the only issue i have is , when i'm using the wireless and the laptop is not on charge , the wireless will disconnect itself , then reconnect, 3 times already whilst typing this, edit 4 times , it doesn't matter how much charge is in the battery , it still does it
when on charge the wireless works perfectly , i've had my other Acer laptop connected at the same time , and that works ok whether on charge or not , so its deffo something in the 6930
changed settings as much as i could , but to no avail
I recently purchased an aspire 1410 and have found the wireless card to be extremely unstable. Unless I am standing within 3 ft. of the modem/router, I lose the signal.
Not what you imagine when you purchase a netbook to use around the house. And I have had another notebook that picked up the signal flawlessly, so this is either the wireless card in this machine or a driver issue.
I recently bought an Acer Extensa 4620Z on Black Friday for real cheap! I really like this computer and wanted to put XP on it so I could like it even more. Turns out, the computer rejects anything but Vista . I know that some people were sort of able to get XP on this computer, but I have tried just about everything short of a network installation (not that that's much different from an actual CD). After a few days of it just sitting there with nothing on it, I got around to using the recovery DVDs/CD that I had to ORDER from Acer. They installed just about everything as it came when i first turned it on.
The reason for the purchase of the recovery discs was not only to get it back to the "original" (not quite) state, but to try to fix this annoying little wireless problem that has arisen since i first formatted it. What's happening is the card comes on when the computer is booted as well as when Windows is installing. There is a switch that turns on a light that lets you know when it's on and to see network activity. The problem here is that it has now REVERSED. When the computer used to boot, the light would come on and i'd have to turn the wireless off since it was slightly annoying, and the light would go out. NOW, when the computer boots, the light is out, but the wireless is on. And when i turn it "ON" the light comes on and the wireless is disabled! WTF is going on?
I just bought a Acer 4720z and I connected it to my wireless router the problem I am having is that the computer keeps disconnecting from internet every few mins and then reconnect. I called acer and they are useless. The computer has Vista on it and my wireless router is a actiontec from verizon.
My Aspire 5315 laptop states that my transmitter module is a AR5BXB63 module. I am assuming this is for b/g. Is there a Atheros module for b/g/n that might be a plug in for the one I now have in my Acer laptop ? Would the antenna have to be diferentfor all three b/g/n or not ?
The Aspire One is a great machine that, for me, was mildly crippled by a finicky Wi-Fi connection. There has been some discussion about this on other parts of the web. For some people, the actual wireless module turns on and off occasionally. For other people, the wireless connects and works just fine, but then won't work for a few minutes - but doesn't disconnect from the router. After a brief wait, the internet works again.
I had the problem of the module remaining connected but not working. Fooling with various settings helped, but it was still not as good as it should be, so I decided to replace the module with an Intel 4965AGN wireless module. This is the easiest fix for those who have this problem and have been frustrated by a solution. I say "easy," because it was easy to spend $35 for the module on eBay and install it, rather than spend another 3 hours fiddling with the settings.
I followed the disassembly guide here to take the keyboard and top panel off. This guide is great, and the author did a nice job with the descriptions..............
I want to disable the wireless lan from connecting to the internet every time I reboot the computer. It is driving me nuts with all the securutiy connections and I think it makes my laptop crash, because it is trying to do stuff.... Actually I have no idea, I just dont want to have to push the disable wireless lan connection every time I reboot.
I would like to push the button to connect to wireless lan if I so choose to do so.
I have a Acer TravelMate 2420 that my sister gave me last year. I formatted the HD and wiped out the partition section on the HD. I found all the drivers that I needed except my wireless doesnt work. I have downloaded every different wireless driver from the acer site and nothing works. OH, my sister lost the Recovery Disc for this computer as well. When i go to my device manager, there is yellow "?" beside the following"
Other devices: ------------- Network Controller? ------------- PCI Modem?
I'm having probs connecting wireless my Acer Aspire 8730. I had this issue 5 days into buying this laptop. It seems to be an intermittant problem as sometimes it connects fine but other times it doesn't. Sometimes it finds other available networks but not my router. Comet sent the laptop back to Acer who insist there's not a problem with the network card. I did find a setting on my router for extended range that we have checked but the problem still persists. If I connect via the ethernet cable then no problems but if I sit the laptop next to the router it still doesn't connect wireless. It seems to have completely lost the plot over Christmas and can now find absolutely nothing wirelessly. I could try changing the router but I'm a bit loathed to do this as we have aother laptop that runs fine via my router. I'm not sure where to go from here as I know both Comet and Acer will deny there's a problem.
