May 28, 2010So does anyone know if Dell sells the backlit keyboard as a part for the Vostro 3500? Mine came with the normal one, but I could really use some light in my keyboard

Dell Vostro 3500 :: Can Use A Standard USB Keyboard And Mouse With Such A Laptop
Jul 1, 2010I have never used a laptop before (I prefer to work on a server machine) but am considering one at present.I'm looking at a Vostro 3500 but that could change.
1) Can I use a standard USB keyboard and mouse with such a laptop? (No need for special devices!)
2) Are there any problems with PS-2 to USB adaptors connecting keyboard and mouse to a USB port? (Yes I have a few keyboards and mice in storage!)
3) Can I install a standard out of the box version of Windows 7 Ultimate (already licensed) on the Vostro 3500?
4) I saw reference somewhere to touch screen control in Win 7 coming sometime. What are the release plans for such capabilities in Dell laptops?
Dell :: Vostro 2510 Backlit Keyboard And Battery Life
Apr 26, 2009I believe I have narrowed down my laptop purchase to the Vostro 2510. I would really like a backlit keyboard, but I have been receiving mixed messages as to whether or not the 2510 includes that option.
Since it's not mentioned anywhere on the Dell website, I am assuming the worst. I saw this website saying otherwise: http://www.geekwithlaptop.com/dell-vostro-2510-laptop (bottom of the page under "built in extras").
Can someone please clarify? If it does come with the 2510, it must be standard since it is not an option while customizing. Why would they not offer this on all of their models?

Apr 13, 2010I am looking for a little expert advice on a Dell 15" and wonder what are the main differences between the Inspiron, Studio & Vostro models? I will be using it to display photos and websites and will not use it for gaming. The display and overall looks are probably the most important. . BB has a Inspiron 15 with a i3 processor for $649.
I am also looking at the Lenovo 15" models because I think I have narrowed my choices down to these 2 manufactures.
Dell :: Vostro 3500 Won't Boot
Sep 5, 2014My vostro 3500 that ive had for 3 years crashed a few times and now wont boot. When i turn the laptop on, the power sign comes on and then a few seconds after, the fan starts going non-stop. nothing comes up on the screen either.
Ive tried taking out the battery and putting it back in again, but that didnt work.
The laptop had been getting a bit hot recently, so i opened it up and cleaned out the fan.

Mar 10, 2010There is no configurable screen and the tech specs don't say other than "HD" which most people use for 1366x768.
Has anyone been able to confirm the screen resolution on the new Vostro 2500 series or 3400?
Any idea on how long it takes them to make it a bit more configurable?

May 3, 2010Im thinking on buying a Vostro 3300 from the Dell website.
Seems as a good lappy for editing text and watching some videos and movies.
How much ram can I add to it? Im planning on buying it with only 2GB and planning to upgrade it to its max. Which I don't know exactly what is.
Also it comes with Intel i3 350 M, any advice on this processor?
The default OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit.
Considering the processor, should I upgrade the OS to 64 bit? Does that actually make a difference at all?

Jun 24, 2009I am intending to buy a Vostro 1320, I will use it for text editing, Internet surfing, occassional photoediting, so I don't have high hardware demands only that computer works smoothly.
There are some things which I dont understand:
1) they offer processors with fsb 800 Mhz and fsb 1066 Mhz, but the RAM memory works on 800 Mhz
I am prepared to pay for little bit better processor but do I have advantage of better CPU when I have slower Ram ?
2) they have also half-height and full-height wireless card,
is it some particular advantage with half-height ?
3) is it worth to buy 256 MB Nvidia instead of onboard Intel X4500MHD graphics card, and as I said my demands on graphics are not so high ?

Also why isn't the Vostro 14" or inspiron 14" available anymore?
How is the screen on the Inspiron 13" ? I'm keen to buy the 13" but I think it'll be kinda small.

Aug 16, 2009I got a Dell Studio 1737 through the Dell Outlet, and after a little while the Num Lock light stopped working. The button still turns it on and off, and I've been debating calling and having to deal with them to get a replacement. Another option I've been thinking about is replacing it outright with the backlit keyboard.
My question is this. What will doing this outside of Dell do to the warranty? The Caps Lock light does still come on, so I'm thinking it's an issue with the light, and if I have to replace it, I might as well go with the better one.

Apr 21, 2009I recently bought an M4400 from the Dell Outlet. Unfortunately, the one that had everything else I wanted didn't have the backlit keyboard.
From looking at the service manual, it looks like a keyboard swap is pretty easy, but I can't find anywhere (including Dell Parts) to buy the actual keyboard (whose part numbers appear to be either G077C or 330-0825, depending on where you look).
