Just curious: has anybody come across some pics on the internet that show the differences between the display-types shipped with the new Dell M4400 - TrueLife RGB LED, AG daylight viewing and the AG WLED Backlit?
***I should also note that some of the close screen shots are a little blurry. I wasnt using a camera stand and taking shots with no flash. So like in the sunset shot, dont compare resolution cause the m6400 pic looks blurrier than the 9100 pic. Just compare color and brightness. Sorry, I just noticed this hours later *
Ok, Ive taken some side by side pics. Old laptop, Dell 9100 15" about 4.5 years old. New Laptop - M6400 Covet
As you can see, for me at least, buying this 17" isnt much bigger than the 15" Im used to. Ok, yeah. I wish the power supply wasnt so big but I will still carry this daily with me to work.
I have a backpack by Spire that I LOVE. They make a sleeve that fits this laptop fine and though the backpack I bought isnt SUPPOSED to fit that big of a sleeve, it actually works.
I highly recommend Spire backpacks. My old one for the 9100 has been carried almost Daily for over 4 years with good weight in it and it still really seems like new esp in the strength department.
I am no expert in video card and monitor stuff as Im an audio guy, so I havent tweaked anything with these screens. They are just both set to highest brightness level and as they came. Im not sure how "fair" it is to compare these since one is an LED screen and one is not and right there, you should expect one to be "colder" and one "warmer".
The LED on the m6400 is definately more saturated with color and way brighter. In whites, my old one looks a bit yellowish though it doesnt really show on the pics.
I tried to so some comparison glossy vs matte (9100) screen. Yep, the Covet is glossy as it IS glass after all, but nope, it doesnt bother me a bit. My first glossy screen too.
I tried to show the screen at angles but both these screens seem to have a wide angle range for viewing.
How does this screen do for viewing blu-ray movies? I know that everyone is raving about the RGBLED, but if this option is still good, then I'll go with it, because it's about $250 cheaper...
As the title say's,the fastest core duo against the second to slowest choice,as there seem's a fair number of people here who play game's on their M4400's,I thought this might be interesting to some.
Empire total war,I'm sure still carry's out control instruction's much better with the X9100 despite framerates being pretty much identical.....a bit hard to tell as the game AI is soo buggy....
after reading some post about the better display for the WXGA+ on the M4400, I could hardly belief that someone that only saw the Samsung screen claims the LG screen is the worse one. In the past the LG screen were the better ones. Even in the other notebooks of the E-Series the LGs are the better screens, so I went and searched someone with the a M4400 but a different screen manufacturer.
You can preview word documents in OS X by highlighting it and then pressing space.
The document shows perfectly with images and everything in the preview pane. However its a bit small and not useable for serious reading.
However I can only seem to open the document in TextEdit which doens't render it properly. When trying to open it with the Preview application it refuses to open.
What application is responsible for being able to view word files in OS X? its obvious it can do it because the preview ability shows that it can be done.
What would currently be the best file type to rip to to save some space but still have quality video/audio on my MBP late 2008?
I've been playing around with some different dvd rippers and they seem to offer some different types of formats to convert to (although there are many the same in each program). For example, some have DIVX and some don't.
I am trying to copy some of my movies to my hard drive for travelling, but would like to shrink the file sizes somewhat so as not to fill up my hard drive space (have to have games after all)!
Feel free to recommend what you think is best ripper out there (don't mind purchasing software).
My laptop is dell studio 1450.display is broken and drivers corrupted.i use a external moniter. power on button pressed the led's on.but external disply didn't show anythig. How to Run BIOS via external screen?
I own a M6700 and have had a few problems with it so Dell upgraded me to an M6800. Problem is that my M6700 had an IPS screen and this feature is no longer available with the M6800 so I reluctantly opted for the matt 1920x1080. I currently have both machines while I transfer data etc so I did some comparison photos comparing the screen quality.M6800 on the LEFT (matt standard) and the M6700 on the RIGHT (IPS)I am really disappointed with the quality of the M6800 screen (matt 1920 x 1080). I can't believe this standard is acceptable.
I mean this is a high spec laptop and Dell offer a screen this bad? The viewing angle is almost unusable. Left to right angle - not so bad, but up and down is so bad that I have to constantly move my head up and down to get an understanding of the colours on my screen. Everything thing is washed out and lacks vibrancy with a blue tinge through it.Â
huge threads dedicated to new Vaio Z (and read more than half of them) but couldn't find any useful information about 1920x1080 screen. I saw 1600x900 model in store and wasn't impressed at all (TN simply can't get better than average IMO)
Is there any information about panel manufacturer/type? Does anybody have proper pics showing its viewing angles (comparison with 1600 model will be even better)?
Don't post about resolution/DPI scaling/small fonts, this thread is devoted to panels' quality only.
I don't have any sound when viewing Youtube on IE or Firefox. I think it disappeared after a windows xp update (before the Microsoft cut-off date). I still get beeps from the X31 Thinkpad though, just no sound with Youtube or XP on start up for example. By the way Youtube is lagging too since the win xp update -it wasn't before though. I updated all the drivers for the X31 from your Lenovo site but to no avail. I have the latest Flash installed.
Installed Shockwave too Direct X installed - didn't make a difference I think its something to do with the windows xp update cause after that my Thinkpad got stuffed up, Youtube slowed and Soundmax drivers kept disappearing and reappearing. I tried the regedit trick for audio whereby you trick windows into thinking it's service pack 2 (I'm on service pack 3, XP). Also checked Device Manager under audio, no ! marks beside the audio. I tried CCleaner as well. I disabled the video accelerator under settings in Youtube video as well I don't have many 3rd party programs installed on the Thinkpad eg no iTunes, no Skype either.
My Aspire V3-771 is a little over a year old now. I don't know much about computers, but i do enjoy several pc games, and watch a lot of streaming videos. when doing so my computer almost always shuts itself off, even while running games that could hardly be called graphic intensive. I'd thought it might be an overheating issue? but i don't think that's the case.Â
I've also noticed that, within the task manager, the disk will often jump to 100%. Â Again, for months after i bought the machine, it worked perfectly fine. many of the programs that it used to run, now cause it to shut down without warning.Â
Is the 15'6 inch full hd wled screen the same good viewing angles I hear about on the 16'' RGB? or are they different?
This is really important to me because I have allready returned a handfull of laptops due to rubbish viewing angles and a washed out black on darker images/websites,
really irritating me now! and the dell xps 16 seems to crop up as having the best screen, but I can't really afford the RGB screen, so was wondering if the wled is just as good viewing angle wise?
Anyone have a side-by-side comparison (chart, pictures, anything) of the two screen types available on the Studio XPS 16? I'd be interested to see the difference, and my local Best Buy doesn't have ANY 16s so it's not possible for me.
Just wondering if someone helps me decide how much is difference between two screen type for Dell 16xx. Should you get Dell i5 with RGB or 15.6 WLED with i720?.. If usage is web browsing, movie watching, some digital pics manipulation (non-professional), does it make sense to get i7 with WLED or i5 with RGB?.. I know this has been talked about in various thread, but nothing really solid...
I want to buy Dell Studio 15, but I have a couple questions. Somebody tell me about DVD Drive and WLED display. I read that the DVD Drive is very noisy and WLED display is very bright. ATI 3470 isn't a good card. Is it true?
Ok so my screen is faulty. The colors are messed up (Windows folders are green, snow is blue, etc). Dell (India) is being stupid is having trouble verifying my problem.
So I need your help to prove the them (or maybe to me) that I am telling the truth (or am totally crazy).
Here is a link to a picture.
It is my current background on my SXPS16, M1530, and PS3/Samsung HDTV. On both the M1530 and Samsung the rocky part in the bottom right is a definitive blue (with the slightest bit of red). On the my SXPS16 it is a definitive purple. As seen in these screen grabs below (hopefully)...
M1530
SXPS16
M1530
SXPS16
Now obviously viewing on my SXPS16 and M1530 every picture looks about the same. My question to you is this, on your SXPS16 (WLED 1080p) is the SXPS mountain picture purple-ish or something else and is the M1530 picture bluer? Are the folders in the SXPS folders picture green and faded or something else and are the folders in the M1530 folder picture more manila colored?
It is my understanding that the windows folders are manila colored like real manila folders... I could be wrong and they could naturally have a green tint but that seems unlikely.
RGBLED vs WLED, both 1920x1080. I already ordered my sxps16 on 8-4-09, I went with the WLED, I bought it when it was 25% off select laptops, couldn't pick RGBLED at that time.
I have been racking my brain about this, tried to cancel but it was to late. Should be here soon, ten days since order and still not shipped. I HATE WAITING! They told me after I recieved the laptop I could return it.
I just orderet an Dell XPS 16 with a WLED 1080P screen and i should have it on the 25. of August.
Then yesterday i went to dell's side and now they offer the same laptop at same price but with the RGBLED screen instead.
It seems its a new RGBLED screen as its not 16" but 15,6" as the WLED screen. I dunno what to do. Would you guys return the laptop and order a new one with the RGBLED instead?
Here's a quick review (I'll try to get a more detailed one up soon and add it to the original post)
When the 2707 first came out, it was more expensive than the 3007!, but now it is $100 cheaper on the dell site. imho it is still way over priced considering you can get a westinghouse 37" for $999.99 but I couldn't pass up this particular 2707 b/c I got for really cheap. I've owned several different LCD's:
Pros: It's great, although some people may complain about the dot/pixel/inch (ie. 2407 vs 2707) -great size (I loved the 24" it was absolutely perfect, but now experiencing the 2707...I would definitely opt for the 2707 since it is bigger =D & watching HD clips/movies on it is even more amazing than on a 24"...I'm sure it would look even better on a 37" or bigger LCD) -price (well the price I got mine for, since it was 2nd hand...not sure if you can pick these up from Dell outlet yet, but I roughly half of what it's going for now =D w00t!) -aluminum framing vs. plastic: wow the brushed textured/polished aluminum framing makes it look so classy & clean vs the black plastic on the other dell lcd models, plus it has a black glass base that is thick and sturdy -card reader & usb hub (the same on all the upper end dell lcds) -easy tilt/ergonomic arm...since it uses a different type of "arm" than the other dell lcd's, it does make adjustments rather easy
Neg: -no portrait mode: unlike other dell lcd's, the dell 2707 does not have portrait mode =(, but then again you could always get an aftermarket "arm" to do this -colors are not as accurate as a 17" lcd display, although it looks great
Here are some side by side pics: (Dell on left, AW on right (I believe it's the LG 17" lcd that Dell XPS use as well...no flash vs flash)
dose any one knows have any idea about this floral...blossom art on the studio 17.
i have a jet black but it has only the topo pattern on the palmrest like a wite lines, but this one is cool i found htis form a website but i have noticed it was only there on the midnight blue, if anyone already owns a midnight blue please let me know whether they have this blossom patterrn on the palm rest am about to order another studio so it would be helpfull...
Since i've read that the RGB LED's green and red are more vivid, does anyone think that by adjusting the colour/contrast/brightness/gamma WLED screens might display colours like RGB LED?
Recieved my Studio XPS 16 with WLED screen today...and I want to assure those that are worried...it's still beautiful.
No, I haven't seen the RGB LED screen...but I put the same Windows screen (with a large range of colors displayed) of my 1720 next to the screen on my 16...and the 16 blows it away.
I apparently had no idea what "white" really was on a laptop screen...it looks so crisp and nice. And at maximum brightness, my 1720 can't compare to the maximum brightness of the 16.
So don't be crushed if you couldn't afford or couldn't see your way into paying the extra for the RGB LED Screen..it's still a sweet looking screen.
I'm sure the RGB LED screen is probably nicer (for 250 bucks, it had well better be), but I'm FAR from unimpressed with the WLED.
Display: 13.3in WXGA (1280x800) - White-LED Display with TrueLife (thinner & brighter) Camera: Integrated 2.0 Mega Pixel Camera with Facial Recongnition Software (Software install, no media)
Shouldn't it be CCFL = 2.0 and WLED = 1.3 or am I missing something?
If Dell has made a big mistake like this, should I then take advantage of the situation and demand compensation, because "I thought" it really was a 2.0 webcam and not a 1.3 installed in my laptop.
my order is being messed up with a 15.6" WLED 1080p screen, but I asked for a 16" RGBLED 1080p screen. I read on here that sometimes Dell installs an RGBLED even though it says WLED. How would an end user tell the difference, apart from "colour", which is subjective? Like is there a way to show it in something such as Device Manager or is there a way to look at your part somehow? I'd rather not rip my screen apart, but if it's not RGBLED then Dell is going to have to send a tech and the right screen.
