View 3 Replies View RelatedI just removed the LED dashboard cover and then the keyboard in a LATITUDE E4300 and used some compressed air for a simple spring cleaning. after I carefully put everything back together, the following keys stopped working 9 O L .
I repeated the process a couple of times to make sure I didn't make any mistake, but still those keys don't work.
I just dropped a big crumb in my SXPS 16 keyboard. Like, third time this has happened in recent memory. Is there no easy way to get crumbs out? The spaces between keys are too small to do anything with.

I have 2GB of Kingston RAM in her. PC 2700, I think.
What's the bestest, fastest, coolest RAM I can put in, and how much can I jamb in there?
I'm not sure if they even made RAM in 2GB sticks for my system. The FSB is only 400, but what if I put in (2) sticks of 2GB RAM (that will fit), but is meant for a higher FSB?
Would I have acess to 4GB of RAM, only at the max speed my system would allow?
Or would my system simply puke because it just won't accept any more that 2GB?
(Pretty obvious I don't know anything about RAM,)
I know I am late to the party, but I finally replaced Core Duo
t2400 in my m1210 with Core2 Duo t7200. Why t7200 and not t7400 or t7600? Price/Performance.
I got t7200 on ebay for about $75, and hope to sell my t2400 for...whatever. So the price for this upgrade should be minimal. Plus t7400 or t7600 would run hotter. Giving my crazy existing temps it was a concern .....
One thing I'm surprised about this unit is how often the fan is going off, even when idling or doing normal internet browsing, and music listening.
My temperature hangs around 50*C - 60*C. This temperature range is okay for my lap as I live in Canada and the temperature will dip down a bit around winter time. But the thing is, I want it to be stabled out around 55*C with music playing and all that. In other words, I don't want the fan to go off ever 10-15mins. I like my laptop quiet, and the 700m did relatively a good job in this.
I'm using RMClock + i8k. RMClock is set to the lowest possible voltage going at 6x. It came with Vista, but I removed that crap and put XP Pro.
The laptop doesn't have a discrete video card as my purpose for this laptop is not for gaming (that's reserved for consoles). I need it to run application servers for local developments.
I have experience with this . My previouse notebook worked overclocked 2 years non-stop with no problems. I still have it .

View 13 Replies View RelatedThis is interesting... a friend of mine just tried to order the SXPS with the i7-820 processor and got denied by Dell. Apparently, the 1645 has been fully discontinued, and Dell will no longer be placing the i7-820 processor in any SXPS form factor. They quoted that due to hardware and power issues as the reason behind discontinuing the 1645 (and replacing it with the 1647) and killing i7-820 support. The sales rep said the only offering will be the Studio series for the i7-820.
As a 1645 owner with the i7-820, this is kinda scary that this laptop has been discontinued this quickly as well as the offering of the 820 series chip. We ended up calling a second time, and another sales rep confirmed the same story.
Anyone get similar information from Dell on this? I'm also wondering if this is a "Dell Canada" thing...

after lots of considering and looking for alternatives I finally ordered a 2530p today. After all, I think this is the best notebook for me.
I never bought a computer where a full windows version is not available on CD and thus never had bad experience with lots of stuff preinstalled.
How bad are the 'extras' on HP business computers in Europe? And do you have any advice on how to clear the computer up and what to delete?

Is it possible to remove the optical drive from the XPS M1330 and put some sort of plastic placeholder there instead? Being able to fit an extra battery or hard-drive would be great, but I can settle for some plastic.
So Dell has taken up two partitions.
1) around 10GB for the factory image
2) around 200MB for something else which I dont know...
I have another windows partition
so that makes 3 primary partitions.
But now I wanna install linux , but I don't want to loose the factory image ( so that i can do a manual restore later on )....
And if so, shut down completely, put to sleep or hibernate, etc?
