Since they don't ship this laptop with a backlit keyboard over here, i'm about to get a replacement part from eBay so i can replace it by myself.
So i did some browsing - and found out that for a US/International Keyboard replacement part the part#KR766
After searching on eBay it shows up a >
Dell Studio 1535 1536 1537 Backlt Laptop Keyboard KR766 .....
I just ordered an M4400...already put specs in sig below...but, I opted not for the backlit keyboard and now having seconds thoughts...Do you think it's worth the 50 bucks? How is it in use?

just wondering if this will work on the 1535. i see that the media buttons are now on the keyboard itself for the 1555. any help would be appreciated.
if it turns out to be non compatible i guess i have a keyboard to sell..
I have a stock non backlit keyboard on my 14z right now. However, I want to replace it with a backlit keyboard, anyone know where to get it?

I didn't get it with my studio because it was a system replacement for my old one. but do you think I should invest in it for show?
just wondering if anyone has tried this-- I know the studio just came out, but it looks like the keyboard is the same size as the xps 1330-- and on the 1330, the keyboard just pops out.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf you're like me, and you bought your Studio 1535, 1536, or 1537 with the standard keyboard and now wish you had the backlit model,
it's an excellent time to buy the keyboard on your own and install it yourself. It's an extremely simple process, involving no more than 4 Philips head screws, three ribbon cables, and ten minutes of your life.
Resaleremarking.net, an excellent parts retailer for Dell notebooks, has the backlit keyboard available for $37.95, which is an excellent price, especially considering it's Grade A, which is brand new. For reference, I bought mine for $50 just a couple months ago.
The part is now cheaper than ever, so what do you have to lose? Replacing the keyboard does not void your warranty with Dell, and is one of the easiest hardware replacements you can make on this laptop.
I just bought a Studio 1749 with a Dutch US international keyboard. The US backlit keyboard is the only backlit one and not an option here.
The only difference is the missing € symbol at key number 5, for which I don't care so much.
Now I'm trying to find the US backlit keyboard at eBay or Amazon without success. Is there a way to find one aftermarket and get it shipped to Europe?
I like to know if it's possible to exchange my non backlit keyboard for one with backlit

Include the following
*Device status lights (Wifi, Bluetooth, Hard drive)
*Numpad
*Display and keyboard backlit brightness function key back to arrow section
*Sleep button
*Stop button
*Numlock button
I am very dissapointed when I see the Studio 1555's keyboard does not include Numpad, Sleep Stop Numlock buttons, Device status lights. It is not easy to press F1-F12 as it require user to hold fn key first.
I use F1-F12 frequent than the External display, Wireless switch, battery and the Display and keyboard backlit brightness keys, so I really don't like the F1-F12 in Studio 1555.
And the Display and keyboard backlit brightness keys are wasting 3 spaces for Sleep, Stop and Numlock buttons.
I'm trying to remove a keyboard from a Studio 1555. I’m at the part where it says, "Disconnect the keyboard cable from the keyboard connector on the system board by rotating the keyboard connector latch towards the front of the computer.
I see the white connector on the cable and I see the black connector on the system board, but for the life of me I don’t see any latch.
Could someone who has experience with this give me an idea of what I should be looking for? The picture in the online service manual is less than enlightening
I've got a 1555 spec'd out with a 25% discount coupon code applied($1154 to $865).
I was wondering if anyone thought it was worthwhile to call Dell up and try to get them to offer me an even better deal. There's nothing else I really want....I mean, I guess they could up me from a P8600 to a P8700, but that's about it. So I wonder if I could get them down to an even $800.
Any thoughts or recommendations? I'm on a very limited budget, so every bit helps...
Any one can give a introduction what is backlit keyboard..
View 5 Replies View RelatedI got a Dell Studio 1737 through the Dell Outlet, and after a little while the Num Lock light stopped working. The button still turns it on and off, and I've been debating calling and having to deal with them to get a replacement. Another option I've been thinking about is replacing it outright with the backlit keyboard.
My question is this. What will doing this outside of Dell do to the warranty? The Caps Lock light does still come on, so I'm thinking it's an issue with the light, and if I have to replace it, I might as well go with the better one.
I asked for a price quote for UK-Keyboard for the new Vaio Z from notebook.de and they asked 140 euros for it (including the tax and installation).
Is the keyboard really that expensive? Is it worth the bucks?
Could I find it with a cheaper price tag elsewhere, and install it myself?
does anyone know if you can change the colors of the keyboard light like you can on alienware laptops? ive been wondering this since ive only seen the backlit keyboard in white, and i was hoping to maybe switch the color to that of my lappy? i think that would be awsome to see on a studio.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an M4400 from the Dell Outlet. Unfortunately, the one that had everything else I wanted didn't have the backlit keyboard.
From looking at the service manual, it looks like a keyboard swap is pretty easy, but I can't find anywhere (including Dell Parts) to buy the actual keyboard (whose part numbers appear to be either G077C or 330-0825, depending on where you look).
i have dell studio 17 nb1735 in the quickset it has the option for backlit keyboard and its all turned on but no backlit lights come on at all how do i know if i actually have this on my laptop or if it simply is not working?
