View 6 RepliesI have been pulling out my hair to figure out if it is possible to improve the processor performance of my Studio XPS 16. I did a significant amount of research before buying this Dell model and, all in all, I am happy with my decision. However, I have noticed that the processor is not as capable as the Q9000 that was in my Asus W90 that I sold.
That was the beginning of my research on the chipset (PM45) and socket type (P: 478) of the Studio XPS 16. This matches the Intel Quad Cores and, more specifically, this particular one: INTEL CORE QUAD Q9200 2.4GHZ 12M 1066 CPU.
Dell told me that these Quad Cores are not compatible with the Studio XPS 1640.
I will change my Processor, original is a 2x1,83 = T2400
I will take a T7400 2x2,17 Ghz --> IS match this
und i will take 4GB memory ram, is working this
My note book is a Dell 9400 Ispironwith 2x1,83ghz ,2 gb memory, 120gb 5400rpm, 7900 GS, vista ultimate
Can We Change Processor Of Hp Compaq Presario Which Is Having Amd Processor Right Now
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got a refurb Studio XPS 1640 with the below config.
-- Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (3MB cache/2.4GHz/1066Mhz FSB) Windows Vista Home Premium.
-- 500 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
-- 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)
-- 512MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3670
I have the below questions.
1) My CPU gets maxed out even if i have a couple of IE8 windows open. Is it normal or do i need to check something?
2) Also if i play any mkv files the movie is not smooth and is this an issue with processor?
i have an x130 with amd e-300, and i would like to improve it, is there any possible processor to change it?Â

i bought it with the expectation of better performance of this processor and i already upgrade it to 6gb of ram now, but doesnt impruve much.

i really dont know if it is the processor or the video card, but for example internet browsing is slow, and also when i play 1080p videos it doesnt go well, the stuck and are really slow and poor

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm not a gamer, I am looking for a reliable, fast laptop mainly for web surfing, but also will be doing a bit of Photoshoping or watching the occasional movie. I'm told memory is the key to a fast system.
On the Dell website, I built a Dell Studio 15 which includes 8GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz and an Intel® Core™ i5-430M 2.26GHz (2.53GHz Turbo Mode, 3M cache).
The price just went down an additional $100 so I'm definitely going to purchase today. Now I'm flirting with the idea of going with the i5-520M 2.40GHz (2.93Ghz Turbo Mode, 3M cache) for $75 since I'm saving some money.
I'm just wondering if it may be overkill for what I'll be using it for. Also concerned that the bigger processor may drain the battery more .....
It's frustrating that still i didn't receive my Laptop which had been placed for order at 18th of Feb. the estimated date was 5th of March but today they changed it to 15th. i m sooo upset caus i placed the order at 18th thinking that i'll b having the system by 25th of Feb (previous 2 order i received within 6business days). the stupid sales man said me this as well. but ever since i placed the order i can see "Work in progress" status on the carrier website link. the order has not yet been shipped nor any tracking number given. the customer service said there is a scarcity of some parts of the machine. i also checked uk dell website. there is no more Studio1557 with i7 processor. i don't know what to do. i feel so angry with them that i might cancel the order but i need a system. is there any other laptop with i7 processor and 1gb graphics card? guys share with me with some advice. F..u..k..ng DELL....

I'm getting a Studio 1555 with the t4200 Penryn Pentium Dual Core CPU. Would a P8600 Core 2 Duo work if I put it in the socket? It seems to be exactly the same core, just faster FSB and multiplier. My guess is Dell use the same motherboard for all 1555 laptops.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm currently wondering how easy (or even if its possible) changing the processor in a studio 15 would be.
Secondly i'm curious as to expensive a new processor would cost, 2.5GHz preferably as my current processor is 2.0GHz.
My second question is: Can the graphics card be changed without soldering in the studio 15. I'm unsure whether the graphics card is integrated or not.
My current graphics card is: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 (256mb)
I was wondering how much a new card would cost and the difficulty to replace.
AS the title imply, I'd like to put in a CULV processor into the 14z, to let it be able to compete against the aSus UL series' battery life of 12 hours. I undrestand that 14z can get up to 6 hours on a 8 cell, and I"m wanting to go that route, if possible.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis may be an unusual inquiry but I'm wondering how hard it can be done.
Yes, I took a look at their service manual but if you have done it and have some tips, please let me know.
I have 2 Dell Studio 1535 laptops bought from their Outlet.
System 1: Blue LCD cover, ATI 3450 video, Duo Core 2Ghz.
System 2: Black LCD cover, Intel X3100 video, backlit KB, Duo Core 2.16Ghz
found a good deal on a 1555 locally but it has a blue lid. i was wondering if i can buy a black lid and just swap it out myself.
View 4 Replies View Relatedim new here just wanna ask about my new xps studio laptop..
i bought it with a 64bit vista OS, the problem is i cant install a cad software because its for 32bit..can i install my laptop with a 32 bit OS? would it be no problem regarding my drivers?
Suppose I purchase one today at full retail price. Then, in say a week, there's a 20% (or whatever) coupon that comes out, or they go on sale.
Can I call Dell and ask for the difference? I know they have a 21 (or whatever) day return policy, so I would imagine the sale or coupon would have to come within that time frame.
Another question: Does the return policy time begin when I order or when it ships or when I receive it? .
Anyone know how to enable scrolling on the XP3 1330 touchpad? I just got Vista reinstalled on mine and I cannot find where to enable this

I just upgraded my Studio 1537's processor from a P8400 to a T9400 and it worked great until my laptop crashed and showed a blue screen saying "uncorrectable hardware failure". How can I fix this and not have it be a total waste of my time?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Dell Studio 1537 laptop which is out of warranty. I decided to upgrade my CPU from T5800 to T7500.
When I started laptop after upgrade a message appear: "no microcode update loaded for booting processor" and I have 2 choices (press F1 to continue and press F2 to enter BIOS).
When I press F1 laptop loads and works. The only problem I see now is that CapsLock and NumLk lights does not appear when I press the buttons.
i've set a HDD password in the bios just to see how exactly would it work, but now when i enter the BIOS, i have to option to clear the password.. it says HDD password frozen.
i can change the admin and user password, but i cant remove the HDD password... so now everytime i turn on my laptop, i have to enter my HDD password... in order not to get my thread closed for security reasons, ----------- THE PASSWORD IS KNOWN -------------
I got my Dell Studio 1555 with Intel 5300 Wireless card (3 antenna attached)..
I bought off a Dell 1510 Wireless card off ebay to replace it ..
Now i have received my wireless card but it has only two antenna stop in it.. the middle one is not there.
Just had my connection upgraded to 50Mb & when i connect my xps to it wirelessly i can only reach speeds of 20Mb.
I have a usb Wireless N external addaptor which gets me speeds of between 35 and 42Mb but its massive and quite unsightly.
Is it possible for me to install a wireless N adaptor to replace the one in this laptop or would i have to get a smart card slot deal?
I'm often study and working with Visual Studio, Photoshop, Sql Server Datamining, Web, HD movie and some game..........................
