Dell :: Vostro 1500 LCD Screen Replacement. New Screen Acting Weird

Hi all, new person here. I did a search on LCD screens but can't find my problem anywhere.
Here's the background and problem:
Vostro 1500 with Chungwha 1280x800 screen that got cracked by my kids. I ordered a replacement screen from a company off Amazon.com that was highly rated. Got the screen and installed it. It is make by Chi Mei. When I powered up the computer I got 8 screens of start up and it was very dim. Once it went past the Windows start up screen everything went black. It would only continue to Windows screen, still showing 8 windows in safe mode. I hooked up the old screen and everything worked fine.
I contacted the company and they air expressed me another screen, which I received yesterday. Hooked it up and got the exact same problem, which leads me to believe it's the Dell that doesn't like it. I will try and attach some photos because I am at a loss.

I've had my 1500 since fall of '07 and it worked fine until winter of last year. Ever since then I get jagged pink lines and distortion effects like shown in the picture below. Occasionally I'll be able to boot up without any glitches, but that's rare and even then the lines reappear within minutes of use.
The lines/distortion appear on the task bar, videos, pictures, and other places.
My GPU is a GeForce 8400M GS

I have a Dell Vostro 1500. While working on a Ispiron 1525 I noticed how much brighter the screen was than my Vostro.
I had the brightness turned up all the way on both notebooks. But the screen was noticeably brighter.
The Inspirons resolution was 1280x800 or something along that line.

My Dell is out of warranty sadly.
This has happened twice recently, I'll be using the laptop, just browsing the net, photoshop, music etc. I don't play any games so wouldn't say the gpu (if that's what the problem is) has ever been under massive load.
I try to keep an eye on the temps and have never noticed them be excessively hot at any time.
It happened again today, so I ran just about every dell diagnostic test that you can use when you first start the laptop and every test passed.

I have a Dell Vostro 1500 which sometimes ,doesn’t want to boot.
I was using Windows 7,I have changed it to XP ,and it’s happening the same thing.
If I want to restart it , I’m getting a black screen(without any beep) , and when I'm turning it on ,I must press 20-60 times on power button  and maybe it will work.
In the same time ,I can keep it on,3 4 days ,without any problem.
I discovered that, when I want to turn it on (forced),if I press hard in the middle of the keyboard ,around keys "y /u/i/k/j/h" ,I hear a small sound, and after this its booting.

I'm looking for an extra Hard Drive bezel/Caddy (the flimsy plastic piece you screw onto your hard drive) for my Vostro 1500. The piece has to cost pennies to make, but I'm having a hard time finding one.
I was appalled to find it here at this price ($45):

I have a Dell Vostro 1500 (bought in 2007). I recently dropped it on the ground and the screen backlight got damaged. I ordered a new screen off eBay. I need help figuring out whether the screen that I ordered is compatible with my laptop. Here are the specs:
Original Screen:
Manufacturer: AU Optronics
Model: B154EW02
New Screen:
Manufacturer: AU Optronics
Model: B154EW02 V.6
The original screen doesn't have any version number, but the new one is V.6 (I'm assuming V stands for version).
Both are 15.4" WXGA, 1280 x 800 and Wide (16:10). The only difference that I can find is that the original screen is glossy, while the new one is matte.
Does the version number (or glossy/matte) make any difference?

I have the WLED Full HD display with the 4670 card. The issue I am having is that on the right side of the screen (rightmost two inches) on a white background only on the white area you can see a faint flickering that sometimes looks like waves coming up from the upper right conner. Again, this effect is very faint, yet visible if you know about it. Is like the wind is messing up the "water" or something.
To see it/test it open IE (or notepad etc) at google and look at the right most side in the white area. It is easier to see if the screen is tilted away from you or looking from under, however, I can see it in the regular position I use.
If you have the same configuration can you please check yours if you see anything?
The problem it is not visible in an external monitor.
Dell replaced my screen in which the problem is milder than the previous screen, but it is still there.
I kinda accepted it as fact of life for the screen, however, when I update the ATI driver, during the update process the screen flickers for a second or two (goes black) and after that there is no problem until I reboot. So apparently the driver is reseting something that makes the problem go away.
I now have Win7 RTM, but the problem was present with Vista and in the Dell Diags CD (if you move the Diags window to the right). I have the A10 BIOS, the problem was also present with A8.
The screen brightness setting does not affect it.
I run a couple screen test software with a lot of patterns no additional problems there ,i.e., no distortion of the patterns, other than the above issue on a white background.
I do not mean to be picky about it, but it bugs me since my other laptops do not have this issue and now that I found that the issue can go away momentarily with the driver update/change.

I bought a Vostro 1500. It has been fine and I got XP instead of Vista. 2GB of RAM.
It boots up fine with quick Dell screen, black XP start up screen with thermometer line at bottom, then light blue XP screen then Vostro.
Before the destop icons show up next after Vostro and I am all set. Now it stops at Vostro.
I can get to programs using task manager file open and browse. Not very convenient.

I have a Vostro 1500, which I bought 10 months ago. About 3 months ago the screen became loose and wobbled about 10 degrees when computer was moved or if I was on the train and it went over bumps. I tightened the screws as advised but this did not have any real effect. Dell engineer came and replaced the back cover with new hinges, (as they though hinges may be broken/at fault but they were fine,) but some wobble was still noticable so he ordered a new base. He came today and took the screen out complete with all the screen casing out of the old base, and put it into the new base, but still wobbled, so just put it back in the old base as it wouldn't have cured the problem.
Now yesterday, after he put the new back cover on, he had to take the plastic around the front of the screen off. After he put it together I noticed that the screen is no longer flush with the plastic surround and it annoys me! Am I just being finicky/picky or should I ask them to fix it?

So lately my SXPS 1640 has been crashing every so often, with a blue screen coming up saying:
POWER_DRIVER_STATE_FAILURE
(or something along those lines)
saying that the computer is restarting to protect the device. I haven't been able to read all of what it says because it restarts to quickly but it's getting really annoying as it is happening more frequently.
It also generally only seems to happen when I've been using it with the battery only and not when it's plugged into the socket.

I have a problem with both of my Acer laptops. It's very annoying to say the least because I have to restart the computer every time to resolve the issue.
I have two Acer Aspire laptops, one Aspire 4330 and the other is Aspire 7736Z. Both have vertical bars with scrambly colors. The bars are about an inch and a half apart and about an inch and a half wide. These weird bars only appear after the computer has been in hibernation. What causes them, and how can I resolve them (without restarting every time)?

i broke my lcd screen a few days ago and i got a replacement from ebay. i installed it but i can see the image on my screen but it is verrry dim. there's no back light. so i put the old screen and turned it on and the back light is very bright but the lcd is cracked and messed up. i don't understand how could that be that the new screen is dim and the old one still is bright but messed up.

During recent travel I have noticed that while watching videos on fullscreen with VLC Player or Media Player Classic on the laptops own monitor, there seems to be a weird tearing-like effect on the screen.
That "problem" however does not exist with Windows Media Player, or on an external monitor (as at home).
Any ideas what might cause this? I'm running Windows XP SP3 with all the recent updates and my video card is GF 7900 GTX 512MB.

Acer Aspire 4740 model with i5 processor.
I discovered this when I charged my laptop 'til morning converting lots of videos.
Sometimes that weird bunch of lines appear in the screen, if I try to refresh, it just disappear. I also bought this last Feb. 19, 2010 so it still has warranty.

my computer screen has either been doing a brief flash or weird movement and then locks itself up. Everything is running but the screen, which is frozen in place (the mouse icon is also frozen). I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to fix this. I thought it was an overheating problem, but it's sitting at 53•C and still does it. It started doing this when I was playing WoW (only while playing), but that was 3-4 weeks ago and until now the computer worked fine.
It will also no longer restart itself; it goes through the shut down process but then basically powers off as if I just turned it off versus shutting down turned off (this laptop has distinctive sounds for both which is how I can tell). Normally I can wait a minute or two and then turn it back on and it boots up (if I try to turn it on right after it cuts off after a second). Now however, it gets to the first logo then cuts off. I have used compressed air to blow in the vents to get rid of dust if that might be a factor.

my vostro 1500 was working fine, it decided to not boot up randomly. when i press the power button, the power led comes on, followed by the hdd led, and the power led stays on . The lcd does not power on. Tried booting using only the battery, same. the power adapter, same. took the notebook apart, reseated the processor, heatsink, ram, and all the connectors, still no luck. tried replacing the ram with my other laptop, same. the hdd works on my other laptop, so i dont know what the exact problem is. This occured once last time, but it booted up fine after 2-3 tries, now it just wont boot on. tried connecting an external monitor, still no life. anything else i could try? and i rule out the faulty 8600 chipset, as i never overclocked my laptop, and always used thermal paste every 6~ months. would really appreciate some help, as im typing this on an ancient hp pavilion ze series, which still works after all these years.

I have a Vostro 1500 laptop with a Core 2 duo T5470, which is supposed to have a 1.6GHz frequency.
I noticed that my computer was going a little bit slower so I check my CPU and saw that it was only running at 1.2GHz.
I thought it would be an easy fix by going to my BIOS and turning off speedstep, but when I looked I see that it is already turned off. I updated the BIOS and turned off speedstep after the update and it is still running at 1.2. Any ideas on what this could be?...

I've decided to add more RAM to my laptop. I have a Vostro 1500 and it's already 2GB but i want a 4GB. My question is that if I have a 1 2gb in the slot or 2 1gb RAM in the slots. I don't want to open up and laptop and possibly screw something up. Also what type of ram do i need? DDR2? PC-XXXX?

Does anyone know if the Vostro 1500 supports SATAII? I'm about to buy an SSD for my Vostro but if it doesn't support SATAII then I'm not really going to see a major difference..
I planning on upgrading to a new laptop soon and bring that SSD with it, but wanted to know what I should be expecting out of the 1500..

Just wanted to see how many people have had the Vostro 1500 and had their GPU burn out. Also how you dealt with it. I'm currently fighting with Dell tech support as they believe that every laptop line they have with the 8xxx series Nvidia card is affected but the Vostro 1500? That is just not logical especially with other OEM using Nvidia GPU having the same issue.

I installed Windows 7 64 bit on my Vostro 1500 and had no issues. Well, one small one, there was one unknown device (Base system device) in the device manager until I downloaded a driver for the Ricoh R5C833 memory card reader and installed it.
I also downloaded a driver from nVidia for my 8600M video card .....

So the LCD in my 15-month old Vostro 1500 went kaput this evening. I immediately hooked up an external monitor to google the symptoms (I could still see a faint image on my display) and I came to the conclusion that something is wrong with the inverter. I've never messed with LCD's before, so I don't even know what that is.
Anyways, I immediately contacted Dell Support figuring this would be covered by my 2-year warranty (guess I'm pretty naive). They got back to me pretty promptly notifying me that the LCD needed replacement and that was not covered by the warranty. I was then given a spare parts number that I should call if I wanted a replacement part.
Does that sound right? The whole LCD needs replacing? How expense and technical would this fix be?
