1. The damn CPU whining? I know everyone has it. Dell said last time I called that they're working on some way to fix it. The new A09 Bios didn't seem to do anything for me, or anyone else apparently according to dell's support forum. What's up with that?
2. My laptop wobbles on the top right and bottom left corners. it only wobbles if I use my 6cell batt, and it doesn't wobble w/ the 9 Cell. So does that mean the 6cell's rubber feet thing on the top right corner isn't high enough? Can dell fix that?
3. The "increase volume" media button thing isn't as responsive as the other ones. i have to press really hard to get it to respond. all the other ones i just tap it lightly, and it works.
Here's some questions that I know Dell has no clue what to do with:
4. I'm currently using Vista Ultimate on this only because I couldn't get my bluetooth driver and my sigmatel audio driver to work properly on XP. since dell hasn't released a xp bluetooth driver, i used WIDCOMM 5.1 stack, and the bluetooth headset and stereo headset drivers would disable the sigmatel drivers. really annoying. cmd51229 says he's gotten it to work:..........................
Have done a clean install of VISTA HP. Keep being prompted to install driver for "Mass storage controller". Device manager shows it with yellow exclamation mark. Windows cannot locate a driver. Looked on the Acer site but unsure what to install for this one.
Device manager just calls it "other device" Acer Aspire 9301awsmi.
I am facing problem relating to PCI Device. Whenever i click on this driver in device manager i get a message that it is not installed. On updation too i am getting this message that windows could not find driver software for this device.

I was playing thief deadly shadows on my e1705 when the screen freaked out and showed this message.(look at pic)
I held the power button to shut it off and when i rebooted the lcd would not show a picture. I figure the gpu is dead. Well i left it alone for the weekend and booted it up Monday morning to see what it does and it was working ok. It took a bit longer than usual to get past the DELL boot screen but it showed no glitches or anything. so I played thief for about 30 minutes and the screen freaked out again and displayed the message. my question is this a driver problem or a hardware problem? I started using a new tweakforce driver to overclock the go 7800 about a month ago. I used a different tweakforce driver for years to overclock before and never had a problem. I used to use an 80.xx driver and I switched to a 94.xx a month before the crash.
The latest Nvidia 8 series XP drivers are 158.22 [url]but on laptopvideo2go.com the highest # driver is 165.01 but the most recent driver is 162.18, and furthermore the "Latest Driver" as reported by the column on the right on the site is 158.28. I've very confused as to which driver I should get...
Clean installed win 7 on my new xps 1330, all went well and everything is functioning, including the biometric fingerprint reader. Problem is with the Broadcom/Widcomm BT driver that won't install, not even in win xp compatibility mode.
As more and more 7950 users were complaining of Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) installs on drivers I began to look into the issue personally. I was able to track down its cause to the ever popular coolbits. Apparently, for us 7950GTX users, this registry entry is not so cool. I will give three strategies for repairing this problem. Note that both pre-install and post-install refer to the driver installation.
Caution: All three of these methods will prevent you from being able to use the Nvidia Control Panel to overclock.
This is not a big issue since the control panel interface for coolbits isn't all that great anyway. Just use ATITool, NTune, or RivaTuner to overclock your card if you wish.
Pre-Install BSOD FIX
INF Modification If you are using a LV2G driver then this is the quickest method. Open up the driver INF and remove the coolbits line. It most likely looks like this:
Code: HKLM,"SOFTWARENVIDIA CorporationGlobalNVTweak", CoolBits, %REG_DWORD%, 0xffffffff So just search for "cool" within the INF and delete the whole line. Proceed with the installation. You should be good to go.
Post-Install BSOD FIX You may be forced to use one of these methods if your driver set does not allow access to the INF.
Registry Overwriting I will post an explanation later but all you need to do is download this file Most likely you will have to install it in safe mode (F5 on startup) Once you install it, reboot. Your problems should cease.
Registry Deletion Start -> Run -> Regedit Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENVIDIA CorporationGlobalNVTweak and remove the coolbits entry
There is another, even newer driver available from the E4300/E4200. Thanks to Logan_Nolag for posting that. It is even more responsive than the Studio driver.

The touchpad is now up there with the Synaptics from my old XPS m140. -------------------------------------------
I tried it on my E6400, and it updated to the newer drivers without issue. I am definitely noticing a diffference in the touchpad.
I just reformatted my computer because after a year of internet browsing and downloading a bunch of games my computer wasn't preforming like it used to...
with that being said, I've been having some problems with reinstalling my drivers.
My Nvidia GeForce 9800m GT video card is being picked up by the computer but is encountering (error 43).
The other day, one of the video cards was working and the other had this error (error 43), now, since I've tried to reinstall the drivers both are not working. When the one was working I had downloaded the driver directly from the Dell.com website. I downloaded the drivers (that are currently not working) here [url] under The "Best" Drivers For Your Laptop. The two files under Windows Vista-32bit (my os) won't extract saying that no hardware was found that was compatible for that driver.
My Computer Specs:
Manufacturer: Dell Model: XPS M1730 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz 2.50GHz RAM:2GB System Type: 32-bit Operating System Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 9800m GT
Dell has released a new IDT driver. The links says A05 but the file name is A06.
XP or Vista.

Fixes and Enhancements Added DUP package.
I haven't a clue what the DUP package is. The real change, as far as I can see, is that I no longer have to manually disable the internal speakers in order to get bass out through the external audio device.
Any idea if Dell will ever release an updated GPU driver to support Flash 10.1 hardware acceleration?
Currently the driver is 8.15.10.1855.
EDIT: Never mind. According to the Adobe release notes PDF, support starts with driver version 8.15.10.2021. Looks like we're outta luck until Dell releases a newer driver.
I'm trying to download a driver from Dell and all I get is the download of their "DellDriverDownloadManager"
I have already downloaded and installed the manager. When I run it it says "no files are selected. Please go to the Drivers and Downloads to select a file"
Has anyone any recommendations on which driver to use on the studio xps 13. I tried to play fallout 3 with EVERYTHING turned off and set to the lowest resolution and it plays sooo slow.
I had a macbook 2ghz with a geforce 9400 card before I went to the XPS and still managed to play it at 1280x800 on medium settings.
I checked out a few reviews of the card and playing at these settings is way achievable but it seems like im having a driver issue?
I am in search of the driver number in the title. It came factory preinstalled from dell and I had the installation files on disk, but accidentally deleted them, defragged, and now they're gone (save for if Power Data Recovery can recover them, Recuva already failed at that ).
Does anybody still have these babies? I ordered my laptop the first of October in Europe, so anyone that has ordered or received their laptop in around now should have these installed. They said they were revision A08, but it's nowhere to be found.
These are the only current drivers that would allow hybrid sli stuff to work, so I really need those. They came with a NVDJ.inf and WHQL certificate. I believe the driver date was around 26/06/2009, and I have scoured the dell ftp site for anything released around that date or later, but found nothing. Also laptopvideo2go doesn't have them. Currently running the NVIDIA notebook drivers, but they don't support the hybrid thing.
I currently have the default driver which is 8.612. Looking at the ATI, there is a new catalyst suite that came out a few days ago, version 9.8 for the 4000 mobility series. Should I download that, or should I just go for the one listed on the dell site?

nVidia(R) Extreme Graphics Controller
while the previous release said it was a driver? I mean whats the actual difference? And any idea why they haven't released this new graphics controller for the other models with the same graphics card? This one is apparently for the "Inspiron 1318"...
1. Synaptics driver doesn't work properly, will grind everything to halt, mouse disappears, external mouse will center on the middle bottom of screen all the time, touchpad will not work. This with the version posted at support.dell.com for 1640/Win7 right now, and the version downloaded direct from synaptics.com.
2. Dell QuickSet crashes at bootup time, same download as above.
3. Webcam crashes often so seriously a bootup is required, now in testing phase with Vista 64 drivers.
I just installed the 185.20 beta driver (which supports the 8600m gt ddr3 without the need for a custom inf), I didnt have any crashing or glitching, and I will let the pic do the talking
this is the first stable 18X.XX driver I tried, and its weird that the 8600m gt doesn't need a modded inf lol
download the driver from LV2Go but dont download any modded infs because you dont need them
When i changed to 185.85 i noticed that the temperature of my video card lowered. Now im moving to 186.81. Do you think its a good decision, or know a better driver?
