I have a HP DV9005US Laptop, which was bought in Nov. 2006. The Laptop looks good aesthetically but has lot of issues with the Laptop like non-working USB Ports, Webcam, WIFI. Looks like the issue is with Motherboard. Even the CD Drive is broken.
Took the Laptop to local Retail Stores like Best Buy,Office Depot etc. but they were quoting repair costs of around $400, which looks too expensive.

A friend of mine has a HP DV6600 with a suspected dead motherboard.
Basically the battery won't charge. A different charger and different battery have been tried but to no success. He has taken it to PC World who say the motherboard is fried, I come to the same conclusion as well as a different battery and charger have been tried. PC World want £250 to fix it.
I've taken a couple of Acer laptops apart and rebuilt them no problems. I'm thinking of doing this for my friend. How easy are HP's to dismantle to fit a motherboard.
Also does anyone know anywhere apart from ebay for motherboards. I've had a look but can only find one, and it may not fit as it's an AMD one, his may be an intel one, just in the process of finding out.

I bought an HP DV2432nr with a bad motherboard. I am going to replace the mobo and give it to my GF for her college graduation present. I did some checking and found that this model is not covered by the extended service warranty deal for the failing motherboards so I am likely going to be buying a mobo for it. I checked with a higher up manager at HP that I know to see what he could do but havent heard anything back yet. Hopefully he can get me one for free or cheap but Im not putting a lot of stock in that one.
I have the machine apart and mobo is out. I have the spare part number and have located the mobo for like 150. However, what I was wondering was if it would be possible to put a mobo from a different DV2000 model in to this one? This one I have has the athlon t53 and nvidia 6150. I would really like to get a mobo out of like a dv27xx since those have the nvidia8400. Think this would work? Obviously if I get an intel board I will need to buy an intel processor. Without having both boards I would really not have a way to tell for sure. Also, I would need the spare part number for a dv27xx or other model mobo.

to start off I updated my vid drivers to the most recent nvidia driver and it has been downhill from that point! When i boot up it shows bars on the screen and will not load windows so i shutdown and load using safe mode which starts right up but still has red artifacts on the screen, i then uninstall the nvidia driver and reboot windows now it loads up properly still has the red artifacts though. So now it is using a standard vga driver then i install a different nvidia driver and get the same problems
I fear i may need a new mboard, would i be able to fit a better mboard/gpu in this chassis if it turns out my gpu is dead? think this may fall under a recall or something?

my dv6000 has a common problem, it just wont turn on anymore, it's starts up and shuts down with in 5 seconds and repeats until i turn it off - i'm gonna either strip it for parts or sell it as seen for spares/repair.
Two questions if you'll indulge me - is this the motherboard that's gone? Most pages online suggest this and getting a new motherboard is expensive and likely to go again i think. Secondly do you guys know where the bext place for new to try and sell it for spares is and what could i possibly expect from it with a bad mb?

I have a DV9000, 17inch. A number (that I think is significant) 439112-001 is on the bottom of the laptop.
I need to buy a refurbished/spare part motherboard to replace the one that died in my other computer, but I can't figure out which one to buy. At first I thought it was as simple as buying a used DV9000 laptop or motherboard, but apparently not only does the screen size (13 vs 19 inch) matter, but also a number.
I see numbers on ebay with stuff like "447983-001"--that's why I thought that one number on the bottom of mine was important. But I can't find that number on any motherboard on ebay, and it only turns up 300 pages on google, which leads me to believe it isn't the right number.

HP Pavilion DV5 AMD Motherboard 482324-001. Can this work with a TL60 cpu and does the memory have to be 800Mhz. I got a broken dv5-1008 bad motherboard. I got a replacement board 482324-001, and installed 1Gig of 5300 ram and the AMD TL60-2GHz x2 that was on the old motherboard the new board will not boot. The lights blink 2 times, I think thats bios, if I try to reset the bios sometimes it will blink 3 times. The laptop will not boot just blinks. The board was tested before it was shipped. Is it because of the cpu and memory that I am using? My old board would work sometimes, but was very iffy and it would cut off at random times.

regarding purchasing a new motherboard for my HP DV6189eu laptop. The original one went dead with no screen and no bips at boot...
I know from some research that is common of that model of gpu (7200go) to die like that. So I am heading towards buying a motherboard with a different graphic chip, like a Intel one.
The original motherboard is spare number 443774-001. My main question is if I have to be careful in buying a new motherboard or just a new one for the same DV6000 series model with AMD socket is enough?

I'm looking to replace the motherboard on an old Compaq Presario 1200 XL-101 notebook. The part number for the motherboard is 169606-001. I'm looking for a cheap or refurbished one so I can get it fairly cheap ... under $50. The new ones across Google are way too expensive ... and I only found One Broken on eBay.

My friend has a dv9000 laptop, and gpu on motherboard is dead, so he has to replace whole motherboard. I was looking through ebay and i found one silly thing, i can see that some motherboards are used for DV6000 series and also for dv9000. For instance 441534-001 motherboard can be replaced and used on bought laptops. So my question is are all motherboards replacable or just few of them as one mentioned above? We were thinking of buying one with intel cpu, cause now he has AMD.

DV9000 series, when you press the power, the lights blink ad then it powers off. So i dissembled it ad removed the motherboard to have a look, the 1 year warrenty had expired.
Now it seems this is a common problem with this series and seems to always point to a bad motherboard, bad chipset or graphics on the board.
Now it will be obvious i had opened it up as i removed a cable that was taped to the board. If there is an extended warrenty for this problem am i screwed?

I know that the dv6000 is one of the worst laptops but I still tried to repair it and got a new motherboard.
Initial problem: fried motherboard.
Got a refurb one off ebay now my issues is as following:
Press the on power button, fan spins for 2 seconds and computer remains on with no boot posting. Hard drive light is OFF and I can't hear the harddrive but I don't think it is the hd because I should still be able to access the bios and monitor should still light on. screen doesn't display anything. cd drive works and when I put a cd such as a windows disc you will hear it work for a couple minutes.
I tried everything from resetting the power cycle, removed the memory, harddrive, connected an external monitor, changed the little battery inside the motherboard. all power cables and ribbons are connected. keyboard won't respond though (fn light wont light on and ctrl alt delete produces nothing) ! I hate HP. after opening the computer I realzied what a piece of junk.

warrantee is out of the question as the incident involved salt water....
Anyway, Does anyone know what type of motherboard is it and where can i find it? The one i have carries the Hd4650 gpu with 1gb memory.
If a new fw490 mobo is still not available, can i find another older mobo (i think the type is mbx-189) and assign to a technician to solder the old's mobo gpu onto the new mobo

i'm having trouble with my XPS m170.
It has:
Pentium M 760 2Ghz
1Gb Ram
60Gb HDD
Geforce Go 7800GTX 256mb
17" WUXGA
Windows Media Center 2005
I was playing CS:S, and all of a sudden i was getting artifacts on the display. Than the computer froze up and i had to power the laptop down manually.
I was able to restart the computer in safe mode a couple times.
But wow when i try to restart the computer, i'm getting artifacts on the Dell Splash screen. And then it would freeze up.
What do you think the issue is? At first i was thinking the GPU is the problem. But now i'm beginning to think its the motherboards.

I have recently put an M1710 LCD screen cover on my I9400, and the palmrest with the XPS logo in it.
I saw while I had my system apart my motherboard has the solder joints on it for the plugs for the LED's but no plugs for them(has them at the front for the speakers, next to the fans and next to the connection for the monitor).
Is it possible to solder the plugs on, will they work ?? I guess I will need a new BIOS for them ? anyone done it. Would appreciate any info/help. what plugs are they ?
Also is the XPS logo in the touchpad controlable ? mine isn't working at the moment (it's plugged in and was bought second hand but supposidly working ?) anyone know. I know others have done this mod.

After some issues i had with my GPU, Dell agreed to replace both my Heatsink and Motherboard, and i wanted to ask those who have had replacements in the past; has anything changed since july 2008? (when i bought my m1530)
have they improved the heatsink, or even changed it? ( i got the aluminum one, crappy piece of engineering right there )
and im sure the GPU issues are still present, but do they run cooler now ?
im asking this because in July the "defective Nvidia GPUs" were still in the dark, and the news about them was a mere rumor...

The motherboard on my XPS M1330 needs replacing for the second time. First time it was replaced under warranty, but my system is now out of warranty so I'm going to replace it myself.
I phoned Dell and they're charging €400 for a replacement but I can get it cheaper if I knew the Dell part number. I have the NVIDIA 8400M GS.
From doing some research, here are some part numbers for motherboards for XPS M1330's:
PU073
GM848
CX062
D057F
K984J
How can I check my existing motherboard's part number to ensure I order the correct part?
