Lahore :: Dv5t Battery 4444444444444

I recently bought a Dv5T with the high capacity 6-cell battery.
asdasdasd
However, I recently noticed in linux that the battery is displaying this data:
Product: Primary
Status: Charging
Percentage charge: 98.0%
Vendor: Hewlett-Packard
Technology: Nickel metal hydride
Serial number:
Model: Primary
Charge time: 9 minutes
Capacity: 52% (Poor)
Current charge: 33.4 Wh
Last full charge: 33.9 Wh
Design charge: 64.8 Wh
I'm concerned with the capacity information. Is this normal?

I bought my DV5T back in January and the past few months I have had an issue with the battery. After being fully charged I may shut the laptop down. But a few hours later when I start it up as soon as the desktop loads I see it says 90% or so battery left. If I don't use it for a few days it can go all the way down to the 70 or 80% range. I've tried calibrating it many times with the instructions from HP. My warranty will be up in a month so I want to try to resolve this now before the school semester starts again.

My dv5t won't take a charge. The charge indicator light does not come on and the battery charge indicator graphic in windows doesn't show it is charging (plus the AC adapter isn't getting warm). My laptop is now out of charge and I have no way to use it. I think the connector at the PC end might be loose or something, but perhaps it is just the AC charge adapter.
The reason I say the conenctor at the laptop end might be loose it because I can wiggle the charging plug around in the socket quite a bit when it is plugged into the laptop power socket (the round socket at the rear of the right side). Sometimes the charge plug has weight on it when in my lap since the darn things sticks out so much, and I am wondering if I have caused the socket to malfunction internally (loose lead or something?).

My battery will not charge even though I just got it about 2-3 months ago from HP while my laptop was still under warranty. When I hover over the battery status it tells me 0% available (plugged in, charging) but no matter what I do it won't charge. I've tried charging this battery on my other dv5t with a different AC adapter, but the same thing is happening. Are there any tricks or anything that I can do? This is a new battery and for it to die after 2-3 months just doesn't make sense. HP battery check tells me the battery health is Good.

Does anybody else with a dv5t have excessive battery wear? I purchased the laptop in August of 2008. According to hwmonitor my battery can only hold 30758 mwh down from the designed capacity of 47520 mwh. I rarely used the battery. Maybe once a week for 5 minutes to move the laptop.
I asked a friend with a dv5t purchased around the same time and his capacity is down to nearly 27000 mwh. Our laptops are the same except his has the intel integrated graphics while i got the 9600m gt. Also he uses the battery almost daily.
When i first got the laptop i got nearly 2 hours out of it. Now i can barely get an hour.
We both calibrated our batteries a few times by fully discharging and fully charging a few times which did nothing.
I know that batteries experience wear but does this seem excessive? I believe the estimate is about 10% a year. But this is almost 50% wear in a year and a half.

The DV5T is one of two notebooks that I'm considering and I have a question related to the heat while gaming. Many have recommended a cooling pad, and many also suggest simply raising the notebook .5-1" in the back. With the natural lift of the 12 cell battery, would the cooling pad still be necessary for long gaming runs? I don't want to pay the extra $20 for the 12 cell only for minimal cooling gains and still needing to buy a cooling pad. Or is it cooling pads are highly recommending for all laptops when gaming?

I am buying a dv5t off ebay but none of the laptops on there come wit the high capacity 6 cell battery offered on HP's website. Is there any place I can buy one? I've tried ebay but it doesn't appear there are any on there.
Also, model number or serialnumber for the high capacity 6 cell so I can check online for it that way.

I've been looking at the 12 cell battery to go along with my dv5t for the extra battery life. I know that the 12 cells battery raises the back part of the dv5t up quite some bit. Would that negate or 'contradict' the use of the colling fan (Zalman NC1000). Since the battery pack is elevate, the full laptop wouldn't be able to make contact with the cooling fan, correct?

Is the fan meant to blow air of the back vent on the bottom of the DV5t?
Air blows out of the side vent but very little air blows out the back vent even when gaming. Im worried the vent is blocked.
Im concerned because the CPU reaches 85c when playing games, which seems a bit high for a CPU in my opinion.

I am getting quite scared about my hp dv5t its getting really hot. The cpu is always at 50-mostly around 65 degrees doing normal work. I keep it on a targus cooler sometimes, but when im on campus I can only use the bare desk. I have undervolted the computer and the gpu is fine always maxing out at around 60 degrees and the harddrive is always at like 40. How do I keep this cpu from getting so high? It makes the computer really hot. Anything like undervolting, or anything free would be a + point.

I've been eyeing the dv5t on HP.com but at Costco today I saw the dv6.
Which would you choose and why? Or is the scnreen size the only difference?

I use an m1530, and my brother is in the market for a similar machine that combines performance, style and affordability. Not a pure gaming laptop, but no slouch either. We were looking at the dv5t, but is its 9600M that much better than our ddr3 8600GT? Should he consider an XPS, or is there something much better?

I have been trying to get 5.1 sound with my laptop, i have heard people i think with other models that make microphone jack into a center/surround output, and other have said that its possible with hdmi but i have tried with latest drivers of HMDI that i got (1.0.0.42).

so i've got a dv5t. i have the notebook raised up 6 inches in the back while on a desk, and i've also got it undervolted (down to 1.0250V on the 9x actually) and this machine always runs hot. hotter while in games (which makes sense.) but even while just browsing the net, it gets hot.

I'm considering buying the HP dv5t with the 9200 GPU. I don't really game much. Will I have the same heating issues that I read about on these boards so often? It sounds like they mostly relate to a) intense gaming; b) use of the 9600 card .

I am trying to burn a few CDs for my girlfriend and I am coming across a few problems.
I have tried burning with Zune software, WMP and a free burner called CDBurnerXP.
Sometimes the CDs will burn fine all the way through, and other times after half way it stops and I get error messages. This has happened with all the programs I have listed.
The error is something along the lines of saying to check if the drive is connected properly or possible driver issues. Can someone direct me to the latest driver for the CD drive?
Anyone else encounter any similar problems when trying to burn CDs?
Forgot to mention this is also happening on my girlfriends laptop, which is also a dv5t...

I've gotten my dv5t since august of 08. Early this year, i did a clean install and after that, I have been getting the same bsod when i play GTA IV and some other games. The codes that I were
0x000001, 0x000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFA600005E5180, and 0x0000000000000001
I'm thinking its heat related but this never happened before I did a clean install.
Specs:
T9400
9600M GT
3GB ram
I also undervolted it and have an antec cooler. thanks.
Without undervolting, i reached 91 degrees Celsius for cpu and 86 for gpu. That seems pretty high for me..
Now I recieved this after playing LFS.

hp dv5t - about 8 months old
P8600
3gb ram
512mb 9600 GT
240gb 7200rpm
win xp pro sp3
this picture is WITH a small undervolt and WITH antec cooling fan
ignore that min, probably a glitch
atm the only real "load" i have running is firefox, digsby (IM client), and itunes. only real cpu usage (through task manager) is firefox. when i exit everything and have nothing running, it use to idle at around 70C but after undervolt i can get it to around 60C

my HP dv5t cpu is just way too hot. I keep pretty good care of my laptop and there is not really dust inside but if I just watch a youtube video my temperatures can easily go up to 65C even with a 1.875 volt to 1.075 undervolt. I have a cooler as well, and the temperatures still are just way too hot. If i play a game like tf2 my cpu easily goes to 75C while the GPU and HDD stay well within acceptable and even cool temperatures. I don't really know why the cpu is so hot compared to everything else. My friend has suggested it might be thermal paste not being applied correctly and I was looking for a second diagnoses. Should i be sending the laptop into HP? And if so what do I call / what do i tell them for the best/fastest service? Should I try to get some Arctic silver and apply thermal paste myself? My friend says he can do it easy enough but he would like a disassembly guide on how to get to the cpu and remove the heatsink.

When i first bought it brand new from best buy right after christmas i could run it all the time and i would notice it would get hot but i never had issues with it until january when it overheated for the first time.
Right after that i went to best buy and bought a USB fan to put underneath it and it seemed to solve the problem. It would be cool to the touch. Until once again... it overheated and kept getting worse and worse.
Now i am to the point where i have to use the fan underneath it, have a small room fan blowing on it, and rob it of performance by turning it to power saver mode which is really frusterating. I also updated the BIOS to make the internal fan run faster which seemed to help a little.
Just a note, i use CoreTemp to monitor the CPU temp with the above setup, it reads 71 degrees Celsius right now.
I just switched it to high performance and it instantly jumped up to 85 degrees and is climbing... now its 88 even with all theese fans on it. I have firefox open, windows live messenger and windows media player running. Now its 92. Im gonna unplug it and turn it to powersaver.. (95 degrees and dropping...)

Is there something currently wrong with the dv5t that I should know about? I keep hearing some people say there's a bad chip and that's why the 9600m gt isn't offered anymore.
