View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got an Aspire 6935g today. The model is full HD but I could not change the resolution to 1920x1080. Does anybody knows how can I do it?
Another think my model came with C2D P7350 (2ghz). All the the 6935G that I've seen comes with 2.26ghz. Isn't not strange?
The front light that controls the wireless no longer lights up when I push it. Win XP finds the wireless card and the drivers are installed properly, but I can't find any of the wireless networks that are in range. (Another Acer laptop and an HP one right next to mine finds the 3 that are in the area.)
Is the wireless card broken? Is there a setting that I need to change? Once it stopped working I formatted it, hoping it was a windows problem... still no dice.
If the card is likely broken, whats my next step? My warranty is done, is it possible to replace it? Where should I buy it, Acer or somewhere else?
I've been losing date and time recently. Â I update files, then take them home on a USB flash drive and they appear to be older than what's at home. Turns out my date and time are maintaining. Â I have to reset date and time when I boot up now. Â Pretty sure I need to swap out the CMOS battery (maybe a CR2032?) how to find it once the case is opened? Â

View 4 Replies View RelatedCan't believe I scanned through the whole owners threads for the M4400, E6500, M2400, E6400. Can't believe I still have questions, but they are listed below:
Background: I'm a pro photographer and am looking for a road machine that has a decent, accurate display. Won't be used at home, won't be used for games. I have looked closely at the MBP (older matte and new glossy) and could live with the screens but the smug gets to be excessive and it would be demeaning to live in bootcamp or lose the touchpad by loading just windows (no interest in switching to OS X). I have also looked at the sony sr & z 13" and could live with either if I gave up and went size over power and durability.
I have not seen any of the LCD choices for the Latitude or Precision in person unfortunately and have no place to view them, which leads me to this post. What got me here is that I have read that the macbook pro shares LCD panels with the WXGA+ LED screen of the M4400 and E6500. Now there are other choices namely the WUXGAs and possibly problems with the WXGA+ displays on both the 14 and 15 inch dells, or maybe with specific samsung or LG models of either though it isn't really clear which one is superior.
Question 1) Truelife = Glossy? AG= anti glare? Ultrasharp = high res?
2) Is the main functional difference between the latitude and precision the video card choices and possibly a display option for the 15"?
3): I would prefer to go with the smaller 14 inch model but looking at the comments on this forum and the review on notebookcheck.net left me thinking the 14 inch LED screen was not up to the level of the 15inch model. Am I wrong on this?
4) The M4400 thread refers to several tables with Contrast, gamut and brightness data for the 4400 --- does anyone have a link to this data for the M2400, E6400 and/or E6500?
My other questions refer to the M4400 and E6500:
5)Is the Canadian website's ultrasharp UWXGA CCFL display the same as the 2 CCFL display mentioned in the M4400 thread? Anyone know if the RGB LED display is available in Canada?
6) Is the UXWGA CCFL monitor the same on the E6500 as the M4400? Is the UXWGA RGB LED monitor available on the E6500?
7) From the specs banded about is the following true:
WUXGA CCFL -- 75% of ARGB gamut, 350 cd brightness 1:400 contrast MATTE finish
WUXGA RGL LED -- 100% of ARGB gamut 300 CD 1:500 contrast GLOSSY finish
WXGA+ LED 45% of ARGB (or similar) 300CD 1:500 contrast MATTE Finish
8) Is the WXGA+ LED display really equivalent to the MBP lcd quality? Are there still problems?
9) How tiny is the text, icons, etc on the WUXGA screen? At home I have a 22" CRT running at nearly the same resolution and I am worried that I'll have to use the "special" features of windows to read.
10) There was brief allusion to problems profiling the RGB LED screen on the M4400 thread -- I've got the older xrite DTP 94 colorimeter-- will there be problems?
11) For those with the LED RGB WUXGA display --> are there banding problems from the wider gamut and (presumably) still 6-bit display?
12) Finally given all the above I didn't seem to find a consensus on the best fit for a monitor for my purposes. The choices being A) E6400/M2400 with WXGA+ LED, B) E6500/M4400 with WXGA+ LED, C) E6500/M4400 with WUXGA CCFL, and finally D) M4400(E6500?) with WUXGA RGB LED.
Is there any chance to overclock the cpu on 6935g?
View 8 Replies View RelatedGot the laptop yesterday Was going to change to XP straight away but Vista isn't as bad as i remember....but need it for a couple of things still. Going to try and install on the other partition that was already there and i found most of the drivers i need.
However I get the blue screen after its loads the XP cd before i can do anything, saying about checking for virusus and faulty HDD or something. I think i read about having to include the XP drivers on the XP cd or something
My HDD is running at 51'C at idle.
I've noticed there is like a silver foil/plastic over the enclosure should i remove this? the temps seem really high.
Recently I developed this simple application that lets you easily configure CineDash and other buttons functions on Acer laptops. This application, “Acer CineDash Config”, is mainly for mine purposes.
I tested it on my Acer 6935G and Windows 7 64bit version. It probably should work on other models and systems to.
Some of the features that Acer CineDash Config supports are:
•32bit and 64bit systems
•Configuring applications to run and captions for buttons:oArcade DeluxeoEmpowering tech.oInternetoE-Mail•Making and restoring registry backup
•Enabling media keys to work with other programs, like winamp, and restoring original key mapping file
Here's screenshot of it:
My main aim is to playback Blu-ray ripped movies from 6935g and output to projector via hdmi.
When projector is connected to 6935g, yeah, it detected the projector and the desktop appears on the projector screen, that's the easy part 6935g downsized to 1280x720p automatically, guess that is because my pj only supports 720p and not 1080p, need to start save again for a 1080p pj,
Now the big question
Powerdvd playback the movie on the 6935g screen but the powerdvd on the pj screen is black in color, no movies
I use powerdvd instead of acer arcade deluxe because the latter does not play Blu-ray ripped movies, also the acer arcade does not play blu-ray disc from the blu-ray drive, it says graphic driver not compatible it does however play the demo disc when pj not connected
After reading great reviews about it, I took the plunge and bought the 6935G last week.
Its a fantastic machine and I'm really delighted with it apart from one major problem - I can't get Windows Media Player 11 to run at all.
The installation of Vista SP1 appeared to go well and the machine seems to be operating perfectly in all other ways (apart from the sidebar not displaying gadgets properly which does not bother me much).
I can see WMP included in the list of programs when I click on the start menu and I can also see it in my "C" drive under Program Files but when I attempt to run it nothing at all happens. The blue circle appears for 1 or 2 seconds then disappears - thats all that happens.
I'm not sure if this is related but when I go to the Music section of Windows Media Center I get the message "A necessary component of Windows Media Center is currently not available "
As I'm a "silver surfer" with limited computer knowledge, I'm probably doing something stupid (or maybe forgettiing to enable something) but I would really appreciate help in getting WMP 11 to work on this otherwise fantastic machine.
As I use WMP to manage my music, its important to me.
Are there any programs out there? I believe it uses the same PLL as the 5930g.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI think I have found my next laptop and its pendling between 8930g and 6935g but I cant decide.
I know both have 2-3 different speccs but Im thinking 8930g with p8400 (2.26gz) and 6935g with t9400 (2.5).
I am trying to connect the 6935G to LG 22LG30R (1680x1050 VGA and HDMI)
First I try the VGA, I try clone but fail coz the LCDTV only 1050 and it will keep trying and looping. Then I try output to LCDTV only but it can get 1680x1050 and the system will start to kick the TV and start cloning again and looping. So I gave up VGA then go try HDMI.
ON HDMI, I try output to LCDTV only but it keep kicking me out too and screen keep flashing. Then I try clone it, it seems the screen stop flashing but the LCDTV screen was chop, plus the whole computer is lagging, like every 3s my mouse will stop then move again.
I'm having some issues playing games on my laptop Aspire 6935G.
I don't know if the laptop configuration is equal in all the world but here is my laptop Hardware:
Core2Duo 2.4Ghz
4Gb DDR3
320GB
Geforce 9600m GT 512MB dedicated
I'm having slowdowns after 10/20 minutes playing games like COD World at War and Red Alert 3, and the fan wont stop... even with the games in minimal configuration... Anyone have a clue of this? a fix maybe? I've played COD 4 Modern Warfare and it never gave me this problems ever...
anyone can confirm that these models really have the GDDR3 and DDR3 video ram and memory ram for the said models......coz i am quite confused because the HP dv5's and dv7's have the same specs as these models but the videocard of the hp's is not gddr3 and ddr3 respectively......what am i missing here..........are the video cards and memory ram types the same or acer is better coz its ddr3 already compared to the hp's ddr2 only memories?
coz right now am torn between this two brands....acer seems better in spec sheets coz it says the video n ram are both ddr3 already....thats better right??....anyways hope someone can shed light for me.....
Been trying to do a full system back up on the eRecovery program on my Acer 6935G laptop but during the first disk out of three it gets to 99% and then the whole laptop locks up (I have just read up on google that the Acer program does this anyway to make sure nothing running in the laptop's background gets in the way with the writing process) and after about 5 mins or so the laptop kick in again & I can move the mouse and do things like browse the net again etc but the Acer eRecovery program still sticks at 99% and the DVD drive stops as well but then nothing. Also as well while the program is still running at 99% and the DVD drive stops when I look in my computer I notice that the DVD drive has disappeared and it has also disappeared from the device manager too! when rebooted though the DVD drive seemed to work normally & displayed in my computer again etc.
Last night the same thing happened as well when I made a back up of the Acer drivers & applications through the eRecovery program and it first halted at 99% too and because the system locked up I thought that the whole laptop had crashed so i rebooted the laptop & as well corrupted the writing of the disk so the incomplete disk had to go in the bin. Tried the process again with a new blank DVD and it worked and completed the application & driver back up. I'm puzzled to why it stops at 99% and does not complete but I want to see if this is a common problem or if anyone else has had the same problem? (I know that there are a couple of people on here who have bought this laptop on here recently) I don't want to risk keep trying to do the back up only to waste DVD's. By the way lastly the DVD's I am using are DVD+R's and they are over a year old.
Upgraded my laptop to a T9400
It runs fine when plugged in, encoding video etc.... The issue is when the laptop is running from the battery, it'll just bluescreen within about 5 mins of unplugging it... every time without fail. I have the latest BIOS 1.13 installed.
I'm guessing it's because it's an engineering sample? Would formatting the PC be worth a shot? I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate at the moment.
Is there a way to disable speedstep on my acer 6935G? i use it plugeed in all the time.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Acer 6935G's key "U" popped out, tried putting it back in but it doesn't work, something might be broken. So a friend brought super glue and we tried to glue it. It was okey first, but it got quite, loose, so we took it off and glued it back again, but this time it wasn't working well, you press it and nothing happens but in the laptop the U will be continuesly typed, like someone holding U.
So its not just the key that's broken, its the thing below it. Is it possible if I send it to a service shop to scrape it off and put on a new one? If so how much it will cost?
BTW, its still under Warranty.
I spotted an Acer Aspire 6935 at a cheaper price which seems to have identical technical specs apart from a slower Hard Drive - 5,400rpm versus 7,200rpm.
I know that the G stands for Gemstone but from the pic available on the retailer's website its difficult to see any significant difference.
Can anyone tell me if there are any other differences between the 2 models? Or - is it purely a matter of cosmetics ? Are the cosmetic differences minor ?
Also - would there be any noticeable difference in performance between a 5,400 rpm HD and a 7,200 rpm HD if the processor and the graphics card are the same ?
I will be using the laptop for general purposes and occasional gaming.
Have you ever had any issues with DVD drive?
I have Optiarc drive (not sure exactly which one but will update later) and problem is that the drive cannot read few DVD/CDs. I have already found 3 such discs : COD5, Fritz10 and one music CD. All discs are original without any scratches.
I have also Acer Extensa and no issues - all discs are read.
Does Acer Gemstone 6935G-944G32Bn come with Vista Ultimate 32 or 64 bit?

I've got a problem with my 6935G keyboard.I can input all the letters to the right end of the keyboard ie:a,z,e,r,t,y, but when i arrive to"u"when i try to input it instead of the"u" i get "4" which is the number featured on the same key .The same happens to "j"(i get 1),"i"(i get 5),"o"(i get 6) and so on.I know it is somehow locked to "numbers" but i don't know how to unlock it.
