I have an Aspire 5570 that is making really really loud noises and slowing the boot up time a lot!
Anyone have this problem? Not 100% sure but I'm pretty certain it is in need of a fan replacement.
Is it hard to DIY a fan replacement? ANyone? I am looking for instructions online.

I have an Acer Aspire 5570z Notebook
with built in, DVD/CD Burner
Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530A ATA Device
Type: DVD/CD ROM Drives
My Cd/Dvd combo was working properly the other day, But now it doesn't read c.d's , only thing works in it now is DVD's.
The last thing i done before it went weird was burn a c.d on NTI Cd/Dvd Maker, and an error came up and said could not complete or something. When i open up my WMP to rip some songs, i notice it wasn't working. Everytime i put a c.d in, it make sounds of it spining, but not reading comes up. it says Please Enter A Disc. I tried almost everything, i cleaned the laser, i tried removing "upper and lower fliters" from the regedit thing, which wasn't there because i removed that once before when i had this problem.

I've bought my Acer Aspire 5570 with T2450 Core Duo 2.0 CPU and Intel GMA950 Video 1.5 years ago and back then I wasn't into fiddling around with it, plus I also had warranty on it and didn't feel like voiding that.
But lately it has been pissing me off, because if I actually use it for anything other than browsing text-based web pages it gets hot. And if put under max load after 10minutes you run the risk of burning your hand if you touch the laptop underneath (75C according to RMClock Utility).
But now, since warranty is long over i decided to see what I can do to improve cooling.
After spending a good amount of time looking for service manual I found one on ed2k network and set it download. Eager to get the things rolling I took it apart blindly (wasn't hard at all) and of course, right when I was done with the last screw the service manual finished downloading... *sigh* (To save you from the same fate I've uploaded the service manual at the end of this post.)
I have cleaned the heatsinks (there wasn't much hair, since i used to blow it out with compressed air occasionally), reapplied thermal paste and then I noticed that about 3/4 of air vent on the bottom of the laptop (where air gets sucked in for cooling) was blocked by a piece of removable plastic, whereas the fan was big enough to use the whole vent......................

I have upgraded to Windows XP and reinstalled all the drivers I need from the Acer website. Wireless networking is fine.
The problem is, when I slide the Bluetooth switch on the front of my computer while a device (Nintendo Wiimote) is waiting to connect to the computer, "No Device" in green text shows up on the bottom of my screen. I think this shows the driver is somewhat working and the hardware is detected.
The LED indicator beside the switch does not light up.
I go to my control panel and double click the "Bluetooth Configuration" icon, nothing happens for a while, then a single dialog shows up saying "Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on." showing only an OK button.
Inside the computer management window, under device manager, a group called "Bluetooth Devices" exists, and inside is something named "Bluetooth Bus Enumerator". I have right clicked on both and tried "Scan for Hardware Changes" and nothing happened. The properties show that "This device is working properly"
Drivers Provider is Broadcom
1/11/2006
Version 5.0.1.1500
Yes I have restarted my computer several times.
All of the above actions were performed four, once with my finger holding the switch and once without, then again with the Wiimote in a waiting-for-connector mode.
My Wii is turned off with the power supply unplugged, there are no other devices with Bluetooth in my house.
how to get Bluetooth working.
There are other problems with this laptop, the card reader only supports SD cards, not Memory Sticks or xD cards. That's a problem for another day. However I would never recommend this laptop and this brand to anyone, but it was pretty cheap.

I have an Acer as5570-2609 aspire laptop that will not boot up. It is like new, hardly been used. When I power it up, the fan comes on for about 3 or 4 seconds, and the hdd light flashes three times in a row, then waits a second or two, the flashes three times again, then goes black. The dvd drive ejects and will spin up a disc, but thats it. I tried swapping in a known good hard drive and nothing helps. I also tried re-seating a few of the easily accessible modules, such as the ram and wireless. I still have not seen a single flicker of the LCD screen. No beeps, nothing...

(UPDATES: DIY Bluetooth module guide added below)
upgrading my Aspire 5570 notebook more than a year ago. This time, I’m feeling lucky to share some of my experiences about how I finally upgraded my CPU from a Core Solo T1350Core 2 Duo T7200.
Again, thanks to everybody here in Notebookreview forum especially adinu, hoggie, Mack1982, TehSuigi, krazyphire and bigozone for their insights and knowledge that helps me a lot throughout the whole process. So, let’s get started!
Pre-upgrading
Please refer to these post before you start. It'll save you a lot of time and trouble later on.
Upgraded Acer 3680 Celeron CPU to a T5300!
Aspire 5315 CPU Step-by-Step Upgrade Guide
What you’ll need :Your new CPU (make sure it's compatible with your system ie; socket, FSB)Latest BIOS from Acer (upgraded to 1.3505 or latest)A good thermal paste (I would recommend Tuniq TX-2 or Arctic Silver 5 as well)Basic tools (screwdrivers, forceps, kitchen paper)Body static discharger (I would definitely recommend this as a precaution)Some alcohol, ear buds, sand paper grid 600,1200 & 2000 (optional for heat sink lapping)Lastly TIME and PATIENCE (you’ll be needing these a lot definitely!)When you’re ready, lets get our hands dirty.
How to disassemble your notebook?
I found out a very good video tutorial on how to disassemble my Aspire notebook on YouTube. So please take your time to view it and follow step by step as shown to help you to go through the process.
Lapping your heat sink (optional)
Although it’s not necessary, but I would recommend this process as another way to improve heat dissipation on your newly installed CPU. Refer to this page for detailed instructions.
The simple process:Clean your heat sink from old thermal paste residues with alcohol or equivalent of it using ear buds and kitchen papers.Apply a 600-grid sandpaper to smoothen the heat sink surface which comes into contact with your CPU.Repeat the process again with a 1200-gid sand paper until you’re satisfied. Finally, finish up by applying a 2000-grid sand paper to give you an almost mirror-finished surface. Wipe clean any dirt and residues left.....................................

I checked with Acer and Crucial.com to determine that I could upgrade from 1GB to 4 GB , removing the two existing 512 MGs and installing two 2 GBs in their place. When both 2 GBs were installed the computer would not boot. After checking with Crucial tech
I tried with just one of the 2 GBs and then the other. Each worked fine individually.
I then downloaded the Vista Flash BIOS 1.32230 and after some help from the Acer tech people was able to install it. It did not change anything. Finally Installed one of the old 512 MGs with one of the new 2 GBs and that worked. Am now running on 2.5 Gigs which is an incredible improvement especially with the Vista OS. If anyone has been able to update to the full 4 GBs please let me know what I've missed. Incidentently, the 2 GB RAM can be ordered online from crucial.com for about $21 and installation is a snap ( about 5-10 minutes ).

I have acer 5570-4011 laptop with vista home (and ubuntu on a separate partition). I rebooted from cd, using winxp pe, deleted all files on vista partition, except those in the root, and started to install win xp pro. After installation files were copied to the hard drive, I restarted without cd and when setup continued, it gave me "file ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded. Error code is 7".
On MS support site they say about ACPI or memory problems and suggest to press F7 during that step to skip ACPI check, but it doesnt help in my case.
How can I install WinXP ?

I have an Aspire 6930 that suddenly died and will not power on. The LED power button was dark and unresponsive. I performed a power reset and the blue light on the power button came back on until I pressed the button to try to restart the laptop. When I did that, the blue LED immediately went dark and stayed that way until I did another power reset. It never gets to the point of anything powering on. Is it a problem with the battery or it the laptop toast?
Â
This is a real bummer since I just replaced the hard drive a few weeks ago and replaced Windows Vista with Linux Mint (which btw is blazing fast compared to Vista).

My Acer Aspire 5860 is a great laptop.
Other than the power issue I am having.
It is just over a year old ( out of warranty)
It won't power up from the battery ( which is still in good condition, hardy used)
I bought a new battery, just in case ( it is charged and is new)
The battery will charge in the laptop, but won't run from the battery.

Have me a dead Acer Aspire 3680. My son was using it and it just went black, with no power and no signs of life.
I basically get nothing when I plug in the power and hit the power button. I removed the battery and tested with just the AC adapter. Still no signs of life. No LEDs, etc.
I completely disassembled the beast to see if the power board had the jack still securely attached and it is still fine.
I had the AC adapter tested, so it is fine.
So I guess my question is, how can I verify whether this is a problem with the MB/CPU or if it is a problem with the little power board not delivering power to the motherboard?
I can check for voltage at the battery charge pins. I'm seeing voltage on 3 of the 5 pins. The large one being ground, I'm assuming. Should I see voltage on the remaining 4?
I don't want to replace the MB/CPU and have it be the power board that is the problem, and vice-versa.

I'm having major trouble with my laptop (an Acer Aspire 3660) which is about 2 years old now. I don't know if there is a problem with the internal power socket or something else, but sometimes when it is plugged it just won't run off the mains or charge the battery. Sometimes I can get it to charge up, seemingly by rotating the power cord cable but at other times it will randomly go to battery even though absolutely nothing has moved, and sometimes it will go to battery power with the slightest little nudge. I don't think this could be related to the battery as the battery seems to work fine (although it does drain quickly I guess it's pretty old in laptop terms). Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions? I bought a new power cable (completely new including power pack and the plug end) but the problem still happens.

i just replaced my old ac adapter as there was a loose connection and you had to have the wire in a certain place for it to charge. now i just bought a new power adapter plugged it in and all was good for about an hour. then all of a sudden the laptop decided to switch it self to battery power then back to ac power then back to battery. so i was like ok this is strange. its seems to b completley random when it does it. sometimes it will go back to ac power othertimes it will stick on battery so i have take out the connecter and plug it back in and it will charge. i thought of maby taking tha battery out all together but then it just cuts out.

This laptop is rarely used, so not sure what could be the problem. This last time, I had inadvertently removed the power block from the wall to plug something else in. Since then it will not power up at all. The blue light comes on but nothing else. I don't hear the drive spinning or anything and screen just stays black. I held power button down for 60 seconds and finally saw normal booting screen and then went back to black screen.

I've got an Acer Aspire 5315 and for some reason the laptop has stopped working correctly. The laptop will turn on and work fine when the battery is in, but when I try and charge the battery from the PSU plugged in nothing happens and the battery is starting to drain. I've taken the battery out and tried to power the laptop up but there seems to be no power getting to the laptop. The PSU is showing a green light on the block. I have also been advised that it could be the AC socket on the laptop, but I've now replaced this and its still not working.
I haven't got another PSU. Could there be any other reason why the laptop wont turn on?

My power adapter went bad on my Aspire 3003LCI.
The power adapter has the following
specs.
Input: AC100-240V
Output: DC19V 3.42A
Power: 65W
I purchased a Targus APA10US universal power adapter. Its specs are as follows.
Input: AC100-230V
Output: 15-24V -2A
Power: 65W Max
My Aspire calls for a #14 tip, but that one did not come with the adapter. Can I use another Targus adapter (#3) with a different tip without doing damage to the PC? I have been told that the tip does some type of voltage regulation and adjusts to the settings of the PC.

I have Acer aspire 2930z with Windows 7 ultimate (64 bit) installed, the problem I face is sometimes, when I play games on it (the Need for speed undercover). The laptop gets very hot and automatically goes power off, I have to unplug the AC adaptor wire, replug and then only I can switch on the pc or else if I try to switch on without un plugging, nothing happens.
This is a problem for what I am really worried, well sir, I use my laptop with my battery but it is connected to electricity all the time as we have some electric break down problem(s) here, so do you think the pc gets heated because of battery plugged?
Infact before when I got this laptop new, I used to play for 3-4 hours the game and nothing used to happen.
I bought the laptop exactly a year back in march 2009.
I have 4 GB or ram, 320 GB hard and 2.17 dual core processor.

I have an Aspire 5610 with 2G ram running vista home premium. I had a few explorer windows open, and was getting memory warnings. I shut a few windows down, and a few hours later, the screen turned blank. I reboot the computer, but the problem persists. Now it turns out if I remove the power supply, and run it on battery, everything is fine. As soon as I instert the power supply chord, screen goes blank (black). Upon removing the power supply, if I shut and open the screen, it works again (and it also shows me a warning message that the wireless is in use, and if I really want to turn the antenna off).
The screen obviously is fine, as it runs fine on battery. I don't understand what is happening as soon as I insert the power supply, and why upon removing the power supply, I get a warning on turning off the antenna.

what brand the 4 pin AC plug on the power adapter!
It is almost an Mini DIN connector but I have those. The pins are fatter and the dimension of the circular connector is slightly bigger than the DIN.
My guess is that the connector is used on a number of the 1700 series.

The laptop came with no power supply and a dead battery, which I knew about beforehand, but it booted into bios, so I figured I'd have a good chance of having a decent laptop with the addition of a universal power supply. I assumed I could purchase a battery at my leisure. I rarely use battery power anyway, so it's not that big a deal to me.
I have a universal psu, so when the laptop first arrived, I plugged it in, and it did boot to bios as the seller claimed. However, after about a minute, it began beeping twice every 3 seconds or so, and the power led began flashing orange. Also, whenever it beeped, the screen would dim, then brighten back up. I've emailed the seller about this, and he said it didn't do that for him, but the battery had some charge when he got it, so maybe that's why not. He said he was going to repair and use it himself, but gave up once he saw the battery wasn't charging, as his costs were adding up.
I checked into some things, and discovered that this laptop originally came with a 120w power supply, whereas I was using a 90w. So I decided to buy a new battery and 120w universal adapter, as it seemed likely it wasn't getting enough power or that it was dipping every few seconds or something.
When they arrived, I plugged in the adapter first, and it didn't beep for a minute or so, just like when I first got it, but then started again. I assume this is because I left it sitting for a couple days waiting on the things I bought, though I'm not sure why that would make a difference. Also, the battery I got was a replacement, non OEM one, and when I put it in, the computer boots to an error message that says "Warning Incorrect battery Using an incorrect battery could cause system damage" and then it shuts down again. I've looked at a lot of different batteries online, and all of the generic ones replace about 8 different acer batteries including mine, and are the same as the one I bought. Also, when I've tried booting it with no battery at all in, I get the exact same incorrect battery message.
I have several questions. First, does anyone else have an Acer laptop that won't boot without the battery and yields this particular message. Second, does anyone have any idea what's going on? <grin> Third, do you think it's worth getting a new OEM battery? Will that solve this? Fourth, do these laptops use a rechargeable CMOS battery (it keeps losing the settings, but only after it's off power for a little while; I've read that some Toshibas have rechargeable CMOS batteries, but the system will only charge them after the laptop battery is charged 100%)?
