Acer :: Upgrading An Aspire 3690 CPU / Processor

Nov 23, 2007

I have a Acer Aspire 3690. It has a Intel Celeron 420 M @ 1.60 Ghz with 512 RAM (Recently updated to 2 GB)

Now I am pretty sure this is compatible with mine: (Here)
(NewEgg seems to be having problems with the website, just fyi, unless it is my computer)

It is a Intel Core Duo T2300 @ 1.66 Ghz. Now I have been wanting to know if the SOCKET is correct. Now according to NewEgg, it says it is a Socket M. Now according to utilities I have been running it says mine is a Socket 479.

So I looked that up and it turns out is it is basically a 478 (478 Pins) but they just said 479 for differentiating. And I have heard that Socket M and 479 are NOT the same and i have heard that they are, because sites such as NewEgg dont have Socket 479 processors cause they are actually Socket 478 Processors.

So anyways, i wanted to look up the package type to help me identify. My Package is a Micro-FCPGA. Now the one I want to get is a Micro-FCPGA as well. Now NewEgg doesn't tell you this.

So i found this place: (Here)
They called there Socket a: Socket 479 Pin.
Then i scroll down and it says: The Intel Core Duo Processors are available in 478-pin Micro-FCPGA and 479-ball Micro-FCBGA packages. This is 478-pin Micro-FCPGA package. Model: BX80539T2300.........................

HP/Compaq :: Upgrading Processor

Mar 26, 2010

im thinking of upgrading the processor on my relatively old Compaq V6133CL. I currently have dual-core AMD 64 X2 TL-52 with 1.6GHz and want to upgrade to dual-core AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 with 2.0GHz. I did research on my own and asked HP tech support, which is pretty useless, but still need some advice. My question is will it be supplied with enough voltage, seems like it needs 1.075 / 1.10. The socket type is S1 in both. Are there any other things that I should be aware of?

My current system:
1.6 GHz AMD Turion TL-52
Mobo: Quanta 30B7 with F.3D bios from HP

Dell :: Thinking About Upgrading Processor (Latitude D630)

May 3, 2010

I recently upgraded the processor in my Inspiron 1545 to an Intel T9400. I think that processor totally rocks and performs as well as I need for everything that I do.

My Latitude D630 is not so fortunate. I forgot what the processor was that it has, but it has a 2MB cache and a 2ghz clock speed. It does not perform as well as my Inspiron does. If I were to buy another T9400 (since I already know I like it) could I pop it in my D630? Or is it not compatible with it?

Acer :: Aspire 5920 Processor Upgrade

Nov 9, 2008

I've been having trouble deciding on whether I should upgrade my 5920's processor/ram and if it was worth it.

I play games moderately and I just need it to perform to my standards, so far in testing this laptop it doesn't hold up too well in FPS in the games I play (Counter-Strike: Source, Warhammer, etc).

I was wondering, if upgrading my processor from the T7300 to the P8600 or maybe even the P9500 would help at all in the performance increase.

In CSS, the computer itself gets 230 FPS on the video stress test. In the real time gameplay it holds up to it, but it's just that it isn't perfect and is sometimes skippy and I will get random chops every few minutes or so. I concluded that most of it was due to the heat and possibly due to the slower processor and amount of ram I have (I have 2GB).

If I can't get this laptop working up to par I'm going to have to invest in another one, as I plan on having a laptop that I can use for school and at home on external monitor and accessories without it being the 20 pound 17" gaming laptop.

Another thing is, will using the P series of processor lower my overall laptop heat and power consumption since they are 25W compared to the T7300's 35W?

Acer :: Aspire 5515 - Processor Can Be Upgraded?

Mar 10, 2009

I have an acer aspire 5515. Great machine for me. I am interested in finding out if the processor can be upgraded. It currently has a AMD Athlon™ 2650e 1.6ghz in it. I have not been able to find information on the motherboard for this laptop. Acer site was not much help but I figured it was because the laptop came out around 12/09 but i dont no for sure. I happened upon the emachine site and there is one that looks exactly like it and has the same specs. So I have to wonder if this is an emachine with acer plastered all over it. Does anyone no what the motherboard model is or for sure what the highest processor i can upgrade to, if possible. I see where others say they have put higher processors in it but want to no for sure.

Acer :: Upgrading CPU In Aspire 7520

Dec 17, 2008

I have the Acer Aspire 7520 Laptop with the AMD Turion X2 TK-55 1.8Ghz Socket One.

Using PC Wizard it says I have a Acer Fuquene motherboard and nVidia nForce 560 Chipset. My question is, will this accept any of the AMD Socket One Processors? I was looking at maybe getting a TL-68 2.4Ghz..

I originally bought this computer for my wife so I wasnt too picky on the specs, but now Im finding it more useful than my high powered desktop since I can take it anywhere around the house I want. Only problem is that the laptop just needs a little more grunt for some of the encoding and stuff I do occasionally..

Acer :: Upgrading My Aspire 5050

Apr 29, 2009

I've just bought 4gb (2x2gb) of RAM from Crucial, but I'm sure that's not nearly enough, so I come to you, notebook gurus.

First things first, my battery is getting old and beginning to fail. I used to max it out on a full charge at 2 hours, but now it's down to about 45 minutes from a full charge using every battery-saving technique I can (while still keeping wireless access available). I think a new battery is in order, but I want to know if I'm stuck with generic replacement batteries, or if any of you can direct me to a nice longer-life one, like a compatible 9-cell? I like to move around my house and library a lot, so battery life is most important.

Secondly, CPU. My model is stuck with a MK-36 2.0ghz CPU (90nm). Now I know this uses the S1 socket that a lot of dual core CPU's use, so I was wondering if it would just be a simple case of updating the BIOS, then switching out for a TL-64 CPU (Also 90nm) or similar.
Is this at all possible, I'm wondering? Or am I stuck with a single-core? I've looked at this thread (linked from these forums), but that looks to be going from a dual core already.

Thirdly and lastly, I was looking at this thread linked from here (can't re-find it though) talking about upgrading the GPU, also talking about MXM. My current GPU is an ATI Radeon Xpress 1100. Is the Aspire 5050's GPU upgradeable at all? I have built all my computers in the past, but I admit I have never tinkered with a notebook before (despite having the necessary tools). Is it possible that I'd be able to shove a better GPU in there?

If there's anything I'm leaving out that you can think might be worth upgrading I'm all ears. My aim is to have the fastest Aspire 5050 I can.

I hope someone here can give me some advice as attempting to scour the internet for a response for this particular model has been a nightmare, I've found the drivers page but it's all a bit confusing with seperate 64bit and then SP1 sections! ...

Acer :: Aspire 9410-2597 Upgrading

I know that i can plug a 7200rpm drive into it and yes it should take w7 with no problem.

It's been a good laptop and I would like to keep it for a few more years.
