i'm currently using 186.03 just because they're the latest.

Aug 16, 2009i have the 174.51 drivers from acer for my 9500m gs and i was wondering if i should update them to the 186.03 from nvidia. I heard that the ones from acer have some optimizations for the hdmi port and if i connect the cable everything will work great on the tv ( sound , image, everything). Should i get the new ones or stick with the old ones ?

Dec 23, 2009problem with my nvidia drivers.
Laptop:Acer 6920g, Nvidia 9500M GS, Vista 32-bit
Problem:
Whenever I upgrade to the latest NVIDIA version drivers on laptopvideo2go, I have a problem with my screen brightness and vista power plan.
Currently I have the nvidia driver 8.17.11.9581 installed (195.81).
If I unistall any other higher version driver from acer's default driver than the power plan and screen brightness work, however if I use the latest driver then the problem happens.

May 16, 2008I have ordered an Acer Gemstone Blue 6920g which is due to be delivered next week sometime.
I was wondering if anyone else already owns one of the gemstone blue laptops and has tried a laptop bag or case out for it.
The gemstone blue laptops come in a 16 inch and 18.4 inch screen size and have an aspect ratio of 16:9 instead of 16:10.
Acer :: 8920G (nvidia 9650m Gs) Overheating
Apr 9, 2009it seems like the 9650M GS is rapidly overheating if I play games - idle temps are around 65-70, but then it goes up to 100-110 very quickly. I tried some different drivers, and now I have underclocked the card from 625/800 mhz (core/mem) to 440/600, but it only helps somewhat.
Is there anything else I can try? Maybe it's a driver issue?

Dec 12, 2008Ive been having playing my games thought, every time I play my driver crashes. so i try to update my nvidia driver which the laptop came with, now i go to nvidia scan my driver and says i got to download the update from acer. So i look for it and i search for
it...downloading the setup...and i extract it...and two files are corrupt...anyways, is that happening for anyone else or the site is down or something.

Sep 28, 2008i have bought myself the aspire 6920G, and i have two questions.
First: I would like to update my Nvidea Geforce 9500M GS driver, i went to the site, downloa section. I found quite a list of files, but i don't know wich file i should download.
Secondly i'd like to know if it's possible to link the gemstone control to windows media player. Atm it opens Windows media center, but i think it's not very good to listen to music while gaming.

Oct 21, 2009i had installed windows7 on my acer 6920g. Everything works fine except for the audio. I tried the default windows update drivers, vista drivers that came with my laptop and also windows7 drivers of 6930g. Tuba doesn't work at all and the sound is like a tin can. And for some drivers the microphone doesn't work. (Currently im using 6930g windows 7 drivers and the microphone works. Tuba is still not working.)
On top of that the sound becomes distorted every few minutes and i have to restart media player or any audio playing application to make it normal. After few minutes of playing any audio it happens again. Sometimes when playing game the sound will become distorted and the only way to make it normal is to restart the game.
How to make my tuba work again in windows 7?

Jan 24, 2010Well my PC came OEM installed with Vista 32 Bit edition and I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit edition (as i get a student discount).
Looking around the forums and internet in general, I have noticed that on the acer 6920g there seems to always be a problem with drivers such as the CineDash, Realtek, TV tuner, Modem, Card reader, Fingerprint, Webcam, Bluetooth etc.. I have also read that you can fix the launchmanager by running in Vista compatiability mode.
If i do an in-place upgrade (going from vista 32-bit to windows 7 ultimate) will it be fine? Also is there anything I should be cautionous of such as the drivers etc..
I would actually really like to do a clean installation but I'm worried that the keyboard "quick" buttons (such as the internet,bluetooth,mail on the side of keyboard will not work)- can someone please confirm if I did a clean installation, would theese buttons still work?
Also I have two games:GTA IV, Call of Duty 5 , will theese both work on windows 7 (or on compatability).

Dec 29, 2008I recently got a Dell Precision M4300 from a friend and had a few questions.
When i got the laptop, I reformatted the Laptop and Reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP2. I proceeded from Microsoft to Update to SP3 and so on.
Well I also Went to Dell's Website and downloaded all the necessary drivers (using the service tag) for this laptop and installed them.
Now here is where I ran into a problem,
When I installed the NVIDIA drivers for the NVidia Quadro FX 360M video card, everything seemed to go fine. Then I rebooted the Laptop, and now every time I reboot, my hardware acceleration is defaulted back to None, and it gives me multiple pop ups about this issue. I go into the settings and turn the Acceleration back to full and it goes away.
This is a major problem, and is really frustrating to deal with everytime the laptop is booted up.
My other problem, is when I open up Internet Explorer, It tends to lock up the browser for no reason when Loading a website. I then CTRL+ALT+DEL and attempt to close iexplore.exe via the task manager. It closes the browser but does not shut down the browser, making it impossible to browse, so then I have to reboot.

Dec 29, 2008I present you a driver shootout, a test of 30 nVIDIA drivers, on a Dell Inspiron 1520 configuration, an iMAC and an Acer Aspire 6920G. First part, the one who handles the Windows XP drivers testing is over and published. The chart is composed in 2 parts, one with the results (points for 3DMarks and fps for Crysis games) and one with the information about it. Aug 24, 2009Recently done a clean Vista install and installed "NVIDIA chipset drivers" from Acer support site. It's on a 9301AWSmi
I now get as optional updates in Windows, two Nvidia updates.
1. NVidia NForce Networking Controller (May 2009 published)
2. NVidia NForce Hyper transport bridge driver update (Oct 2008 published)
Is it wise to accept these or not... I know a lot say never accept driver updates via Windows.

Jan 5, 2010Does anyone know if Dell modifies the video card drivers that they post on the driver download website specifically for their machines?
Or do they just download the latest drivers from the Nvidia webiste test on a particular machine for a little while and either pass or fail the driver for official use?

May 8, 2009I require some help on repairing a bad bios flash for this laptop. The problem started after clearing the bios from with in windows and then using acer esettings to create another password which would save the bios but it seems it did not save properly and resulted in a bad flash.
The laptop no longer boots up, it just hangs with a black screen.
I have downloaded the updated bios file from acer web page and used various methods for other acer models which use a usb floppy with the crisis recovey disk and rename 114.rom bios file to bios.wph but cant seem to trigger the laptop into booting from the floppy using win+b/esc and fn+b/esc.
I have also tried putting the bios file onto a cd with various different file names but again it doesnt want to boot from cd either.

Sep 26, 2008Purchased my 8920G-8332Q32Bn a few months back and at the time, the GeForce 9650 wasn't available so I settled for the 9500M GS. I find its performance very sluggish and read somewhere that these lappies come with "MXM-II" meaning the GPU's are swappable? Would anyone know of the costs associated and if it's even possible.
I don't know if there's something faulty with my GPU. I installed Microsoft FS9.1 with AF at 4x and AA at 8 and used to average 40fps. Now, under the same settings, same scenery, same amount of scenery, I barely make 15fps. I've tried resetting all settings in FS and the Nvidia Control panel but to no avail. I do notice that the laptop is much much hotter than before.

Oct 12, 2008I recently purchased an Acer 8920g. It came with Vista ultimate 64. I was very excited until after 3 hours of use the screen just went blank. The lights are still on the keyboard but the screen stays blank. I have cut it on and off, removed the battery and tried alt F10 . I finally got an error message the next morning when I opened the lid. [b]Your computer cant come out of hibernation mode

Any information that was not saved before the computer went into hibernation will be lost.
I Emailed Acer and they cant seem to understand that the screen is blank. They keep giving me directions after I boot into safe mode.
I didnt install anything except avg 8 free edition.

Apr 12, 2009Since the start of this year I own an Acer 8920G laptop. Playing games (WoW) is almost impossible due to the fact the AudioDG process is kicking in randomly eating loads of processor time and messing up the sound.
I've read several threads about this problem but never saw an actual solution. I am NOT going to disable any sounds effects on my laptop nor am I going to disable my microphone. Imho that's ridicilous.
So, before I sent this laptop straight back to his creator(s), anyone knows a) whats the actual root cause of this problem, and b) anyone knows a solution.

Oct 9, 2008I have recently purchased an acer 8930. To be honest the display is pretty rubbish. Alot of backlight streaks.
I have tried to alter the display settings in the nvidia control panel but it won't let me do this. I can slide the bars up and down the % line but nothing on the display changes.
I phoned acer support but they weren't aware of this problem and the guy thought that acer have locked this option.
I was wondering if this is
A. A fault with my laptop
B. Acer doesn't allow this
C. Can do it on the 8920g but not the 8930

May 9, 2009I have had my Acer 8920g for 6 months now. I was running Vista 64 bit and win 7. I am now running Sabayon 4.1 and have had the same issues in each system. I can type a few sentences then look up and realize I am 1 or 2 sentences up in the paragraph typing in the middle of a word etc. Luckily I dont type alot on this computer but I need to. For example, while typing the I after luckily in the previou sentence, I look up and the I was in front of the I in the 3rd sentence. I have the touch control center to the left locked. I have emailed Acer support for a few months!with no response. I live in the US and Acer support is non exsistant here. I like Acer but if I had known about the poor support I probably would have purchased another brand.
