i have a acer extensa 5620-6830 i got from bb last xmas i want to reinstall vista . everything goes well untill its about to install it doesnt find the hard drive . i lost my recovery cds but im using a vista ultimate cd i got for doin some surveys for ms .
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have been trying to downgrade my extensa 5620 from vista to XP. i already formated my drive but as soon as XP installer would not find my drive i saw somethign wrong. win XP does not have the drivers for SATA HD :S i dont know if win XP SP3 has them any way.
i tried using nlite to create an XP CD with this driver integrated.
i can find the drivers on acer website but nlite needs an .inf to add the driver! the driver files i download dont include this file extension and include a setup file.
Here's a really quick overview of what I did:
-Swapped out the original T5250 (1.5Ghz, 667Mhz bus, 2MB cache) cpu with a brand new T9500 (2.6Ghz, 800Mhz bus, 6MB cache). Cost: $229.99 shipped.
-Swapped out the original 200GB (4200rpm, 2MB buffer, SATA 1.5) hard drive with a brand new 320GB (7200rpms, 8MB buffer, SATA 3.0). Cost: $75.98 shipped.
-Swapped out the original 1GB of RAM (2 x 512MB of PC2-4200) with a new set of 4GB (2 x 2GB of PC2-6400; runs at 667Mhz due to GMA965 limit). Cost: $44.49 shipped.
-Swapped out original 802.11g Mini PCIe wifi card (Intel 3945ABG) with a new 802.11n Mini PCIe wifi card (BCM94321). Cost: $17.95 shipped.
*Experimental* -Swapped out original LCD (WXGA 1280x800 max) with a new LCD (WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 max). Cost: ~$75 shipped..................................
I bought this laptop yesterday and formatted a Fedora x86-64 & Windows XP x64.
I could not find any drivers for the video card for Windows XP x64 or any version of linux. In fact, I couldn't find any drivers at all, not even x86.
All I know about the video card is there's a sticker that says "Up to 1279MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT HyperMemory".
I tried the HD 2400 series driver for xp x64 from ATI.com but when I try to install it, it says: "Setup was unable to find compnents that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have the required hardware or software."
I downloaded a 800+ MB game today and was playing it even though it said my graphics card didn't match and stuff... I got a couple runtime errors and the game got shut down, but later I started ignoring the messages when I figured out that way, I can keep playing. Then I "accidentally" responded to the error message and when the game got shut down the computer stopped responding at all. I force-shut down the computer by holding down the power button. Then, after that when I try to turn on the computer the fan starts turning and green light comes up... for about 3 seconds. Then it takes a .1 sec-long break and tries again for another 3 seconds, then gives in completely. It does this when it has power, so I don't think it's the battery. It won't even show the Acer screen at the very beginning. It's a Vista, no recovery CD (do you ever get recovery CD's for Vista?). Any chance we get our notebook alive and kicking again?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI own a 5920G. Recently, after formatting my hard disk, I discovered my recovery discs are damaged and I accidentally wiped out my hard disk recovery partition some time ago while installing linux. I managed to copy both the recovery DVDs into my hard disk (not completely), and managed to download some missing drivers & patches from acer & microsoft which were unrecoverable from the discs. The only missing file now is an Image file from Disc2 named D5E0A592.132 (around 50MB). It is the last recovery image in disc2, in a folder named 'Images'. I don't want to take it to Acer service etc because i need to use my notebook a lot, and because my warranty peroid is over.
to upload this single file (D5E0A592.132), preferably to any file hosting service? (eg rapidshare etc). I have been searching online for this file for days.
Model: Acer 5920G-602G32Mn
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
I don't think this is illegal, because I'm not pirating any disc or requesting any pirate disc. I do own a legal copy of Windows Vista which came with the notebook.
I have an Acer travelmate 2420, that I want to factory format but I can't get the back up cd's that I made to work and the Empowerment technology is no longer on the pc how can I factory format now?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm an HP user myself, but my girlfriend has an older ACER Aspire 3000 series (about 2.5 years old). I recently reformatted it, and did a clean install using the recovery discs...
Everything seemed to go fine, until I noticed in the disc manager that the Hard Disc has 3 partitions... one is like 3GB, and the other 2 are about 27GB each... One is the Main C: Drive, and the other is called "Acer Data". This is driving me nuts! She only has 27GB of usable storage on her computer, and I can't figure out how to consolidate the 2 Partitions to make 1 large one. Can anyone please help? It's a 60GB harddrive, and I'd hate to see that go to waste for "Acer data" (whatever that is).
Also, the disc was formatted in FAT32... Is there any reason Acer chooses that file system over NTFS? I'd prefer to format the drive with NTFS... I'm just concerned that if I reformat the drive I'll lose all the drivers and stuff. The computer currently doesn't have any programs installed or any data that needs backing up, so I'm not concerned about that stuff.
Unable to hear sound once format the notebook .....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 4720Z. Since long I had been using XP. Recently it was formatted and Windows 7 was installed. But after this upgradation, the WLAN is not working. Have banged my head with drivers and all.
Device manager is showing Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi miniport adapter (although with XP it simply showed by the name of WLAN adapter as far as I remember). And checking it's properties it says that the device is working properly. When Intel Wi-Fi Technology is tried to get started, it says that 'A supported intel wireless network adapter not found'.
my brother has an Acer 5710. He wants to format it , but he has only the recovery disks he burnt when he first had his laptop.
Can he reinstall windows vista from it? Like do a (semi)clean install out of it?
If yes, how?
I just installed XP Pro on my Acer Extensa 4630Z and I installed all the drivers successfully but the wireless driver. I tried all the drivers from acer's support site [url] none of them work. I also tried what worked for Davoucci with same laptop but this driver also doesn't work for me

I installed Windows XP SP 2 without SATA and everything was running perfectly exept i was getting BSOD from time to time . Recently (one month ago) i installed Windows 7 .
Performance in ordinary work and in programs is now excellent but...... There is another side of the medal. PC games . When i intsalled ACER graphicks drivers i runned my games with stuttering . Also with ATI drivers(9.12) modded by Mobility driver threre is no stuttering but i can play only in low resoluitions like 800 600, 640 480 etc. What is the problem ? I really dont like XP and i like Windows 7.
Ever since I bought this laptop I've had an issue of it shutting itself down. Almost always while watching youtube videos. I found out about the handy little tool called coretemp and I see my processors running about 68+ nearly all the time. When I have websites loaded that have flash animations, ads, videos (youtube), it only gets hotter and hotter. It nearly always reaches 90+ (Celsius) and then shuts down.
I read about it needing a bios update for many people who say they have the problem with the laptop screen going black, but I think mine is heat related.
My laptop runs around 68 when idle and when busy it gets hot. Right now I have Google Chrome open with two tabs, one is this webpage and the other is gmail and its running at 75 celsius. Performance tab in task manager says it has a processor load of only 1%.
I keep a watch on the temperature and as long as I start closing programs and windows when it reaches around 80 it will start to cool down. So as long as I can keep an eye on it the laptop will run fine for days with no problems. If I forget to check and it gets too hot it'll shut down. I'll check the logs and sure enough the last few lines of the last log file will look something like this ...
Why does the fan run so damn much? I know that the bottom of the laptop does not get hot like Compaq and Sony, but it is damn annoying. There seems to be two speeds, one that is low and runs silently, and the high...this is the problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just bought 2x2gb ram from my Acer Extensa 5610 and my Windows 7 x64 can see it right, but only use 3gb. Resource monitor says the other 1gb is Hardware reserved. In the Bios theres an info saying extended memory 3gb. Is that what the problem is? coz its not something I can set in this version of bios.
Do i have to upgrade my bios? if so, to what version? The manual clearly says i can upgrade to 4gb. (extensa 5610 has intel 945 chipset)
Have you guys heard about Acer's Extensa line of products? Well, so far I've just seen them in Acer sites from Asia, and I was wondering how many people actually use them already.
Another thing, I was also looking for someone who particularly owns an Acer Extensa 4630G--the most recent budget one (I think) with Intel C2D T5800, ~4GB 667MHz RAM, I think with 320GB Harddrive, and ~nVidia 9300M GS~ (256MB dedicated)
For people who own this kind of notebook (or those with the 4630ZG, the one with the Pentium Dual Core instead of C2D), how does the notebook handle? Does it heat up easily? Does it perform well with relatively recent games/3D modelling applications etc.?
I just purchased a acer extensa 4630Z and it has vista home premium on it. I want to downgrade it to xp, but when i put the a oem xp cd in while the system is booting up it preloads all the xp files but then get a blue screen with error 0x0000007b. How can I get a xp cd that will support this laptop?
I know you can use nlite to make a custom xp cd but I cant seem to find the right drivers to do so. I seen some people add slipstream drivers for aspires but this is different.
couldn't find any review about this model. It would be an all in one budget laptop for my gf (internet, pics, vid, office).
Specs:
Extensa 5235-902G16Mn
Intel Celeron M 900 2.20 GHz,
15.6" WXGA Ledbacklit
Intel GMA X4500
2GB DDRII
320 GB 5.4K SATA
DVDRW, 5in1, wiFi B/G/N, BT 2.0, 6CELL2.2, bootable Linux
I got this laptop about 2 months ago from best buy here in canada. It came with windows vista. The first thing i did when i got home was format my hard drive and installed windows xp pro.
All is well but I cant get my bluetooth working. the blue light does not come on at all and when i let the launch manager load with windows and try to use the bluetooth it says no device found.
This laptop came bluetooth enabled so WTF man!
I have recently bought a new Acer Extensa 4220, I am wanting to upgrade it by installing another 512 MB ram card into it. Only problem is i cant figure out how to open the back up.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi find in this web more and very good information about notebooks, with this information can i upgrade the CPU of my Acer 5715Z from a T2370 to a T7500, and i know this chipset 965 can i ugprade more, but know i have a very good offer to buy a cheap notebook Acer Extensa 5230 with a Celeron M575, and put in this one my T7500 to upgrade this bad cpu celeron.
But, there's always a but, i search information in the web and i think this chipset is not compatible to upgrade a good CPU (not Celeron).
This is the information about notebook:

And this about chipset (GL40), look at information about only CPU's Celeron

I bought a 500gb Western Digital HDD for my 17" mbp. I tried to run boot camp yesterday and I keep getting this message "The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.
Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again."
So I back up what files I need to keep. I open up my disk utility and I cannot erase, or partition in there. It simply won't work at this point I just need to reformat and make the Volume Mac OSX (Journaled) cause right now its just volume. Like I said I've backed up what I feel I need to keep cause I have my original HDD. First off, I just cloned the original drive using super and SATA to USB cable.
I have an Acer extensa 5220 laptop, which suddenly decided this morning that it wont turn on any more! It was working perfectly fine, has good anti-virus, etc., and worked fine an hour before but now when it's turned on, the power button goes green and nothing else happens. It's not been dropped or banged, was not plugged into the mains at the time (but can that rule out a surge the last time it was plugged in?)There is not even a flicker on the screen, the fan doesn't come on, but I think the hard-drive hums. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with it?
