Apple :: Macbook Pro RAM/model
Jul 12, 2009After failing to find my perfect Windows Laptop for college next year (ive gone through 2 laptops that failed me already). I'm thinking of going the Mac Route.
Question is, how much difference does 2 gigs of RAM to 4 gigs of RAM make and is there any other difference besides spec in last seasons model to the summer model?
Acer :: Confusing Aspire Model/sub Model Numbers
Mar 5, 2009I'm trying to find info on an aspire... Not the model # itself as that is not the problem, but the sub model#...
The model is Acer Aspire 8930G, but the sub model # is 6963 and that is where my research seems to go dry... Does anyone have info on this sub model #?
Also i might ask is how user friendly is the 8930G for upgrades as for the processor and video? The current processor is the T5800 with the 9600m nvidia... Would it make sense to upgrade and what is the potential of this 8930G with the T5800?

And I plan to buy an imac to be my powerful Desktop or in case my Laptop stops working sometimes.
I need one more powerful than my Dell (If less I dont know why I have to buy a Desktop anyway)
I know i7 2.8Ghz quad core with hyper threading and Ati 4850 512 GB model from new Imac will beat My Dell badly but How about i5 model with ATI 4850 512 or Core 2 3.33 E8600 (if I got it right) with ATI 4670 256 GB?

Feb 1, 2009Considering my interests for a new Aluminum 13in macbook.. i was wondering if anyone knew or heard of upcoming updates, revisions or fixes to the 13in macbook. Perhaps apple will make some revisions to the screen, or other issues that may be on the current aluminum macbook. Should i get it now, or wait until some future upgrades or price drops?

I would however like to get 8gb of ram because I will be doing lots of multi-tasking and some 3d work in windows. Obviously I will not pay apple's crazy prices. I know you can buy "generic" ram for the laptop and was wondering if you know what ram I can use and if you know of any good deals? If I sell the mac ram and only user "generic" ram will my warranty be voided?

This suggests that the Latitude numbers are what everyone assumed they would be. The M6500 has arrived but, so far, Google isn't unearthing anything about the E4310, E6410 and E6510.

Sep 18, 2009The S1440/Studio 14z is constantly running hot for me. It is running the fan all the time and very hot air blowing. I can also hear the hard drive making some noise some times ...Is this sign of trouble. I just i have 1 browser and IM client running and no video or audio streaming going one. The fan is constantly running & blowing hot air...
Anyone facing the same issues..Should i try getting an exchange from BBY ...I would appreciate any tweaks which may be needed to make it work cooler. It is hot to the extent of uncomfortable on lap.

Acer :: Model Numbering Sytem
Jan 17, 2009As a reasonably new Acer user and sometimes helper on this forum, what I find most irritating about Acer is their numbering system. Having mostly used Toshiba's before, Iwas used to progressive numbering with their models.
ie; A50,A60,A70 and so on now up to around A350 etc. Acer however, seems to be all over the place with their model numbers.

Jan 6, 2010When I go to watch Lost on Hulu it plays fine in small screen. When I go to full screen it is fine until I pause it. Then when I resume play the picture is choppy. Then to get rid of choppy play I must either exit the site and relog in or if I hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete then close Ctrl-Alt-Delete it will resume normal play until I hit pause again. I have had it back to BB for the problem but they dont know what is causing it. I cannot exchange it for another because the new products are coming out in a few weeks and this one is no longer available. I really like this one and I cannot believe this is a major issue. I really dont want to exchange this unit I would rather have it repaired even if I have to do it myself.

Jun 21, 2009I bought this laptop for about 2 and a half years and I got the extended warranty for 3 years. After I bought it about 3-4 months after I have called and asked for the BIOS password but they stalled and stalled and stalled and I never obtained it. Now I call again to ask for the BIOS password w/ all the information they are acquiring like receipt etc. Now they say that my warranty has expired. Are they not supposed to give all information of the laptop to the customer that purchased their products? I need the BIOS to reformat my OS..
