when I go to turn on the laptop 15r 5521 , I get 1 beep followed by 3 softer beeps , this happen 3 times so in total 12 beeps but not on the screens shows.
No keys work at all eg f2

I have a dell inspiron n7110. I keep trying to turn on the computer and am getting nothing but black screen with 7 beeps. I tried starting it while holding the FN key all that happened is the beepos went away still black screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was about to do a factory restore on my computer later in the day, but i was unlucky that the computer stopped working When i turn it on it continuously beeps and won`t turn on, i have picked the option to `start windows normally` and even the option that checks/diagnoses the files (to fix the problem not letting me startup) but when it says `loading files` it starts beeping again and the process stops..
I also read that it `could` be a problem with the RAM, but maybe that was for a different problem or so, but if it is a problem with the RAM, then how can i fix it?
I've had a problem with my LCD for a while now. For around six months the screen sometimes turns black unless it is at a particular degree to the keyboard. For example, at 90 degrees there is a good chance that the screen will flicker and will mostly be black. More than 90 usually works.
Couple days ago I turned my laptop off and before it shut down left the room. When I came back after 15 minutes I heard the beeping sound. I turned the laptop off immediately. After that, every time I turn on laptop, nothing happens apart from beeping. I tried 'D' and then turn on. Also f12. Nothing changes, screen stays black. I also removed battery and pressed on turn on in order to get rid of excess charge.
I have a Dell Inspiron 5521 that is about a year and a half old. In the last two weeks, it's begun to make a beeping noise and will not boot up. As far as I can tell, there's no pattern or end to the beeps -- it's just one beep continuously. The longest I've let it beep before I couldn't stand it anymore and popped the battery out was 25 beeps. There are about two and a half seconds in between each beep. Up until very recently, taking the battery out and putting it back in seemed to solve the problem, but that no longer seems to work.
I've researched beep codes but can't seem to find one matching that description.
Running Windows 7. The BIOS version and date is Dell Inc. A05, 1/3/2013, SMBIOS Version 207.
My dell Inspiron 15R (5521) is no longer working. It started one day when we my wife was using the laptop and it started beeping and shut down. I thought it was the battery because when I plugged in the AC adapter the light on the end of the AC adapter plug would go out. I figured the battery was shorted. I bought a new battery and it took about 5 days to come in. After a day or so I tried using the laptop again with the original battery and it worked. When the new battery came in I swapped them out and after 3-4 days it failed again. Now it doesn't work at all with either battery. It will turn on but the screen is black. I tried booting it up while holding down the Fn key to go into diagnostic mode. After the fan kits on I get a sequence of beeps and tones. I've attached a video to show you the sequence. Basically it has 6 beeps than 10 beeps than 3 sets of 3 beeps followed by a tone than it does the 3 sets of 3 beeps again and again.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell 15R 5521 laptop with an Intel Core i5 3337U 1.8 GHz (3 MB Cache) and Intel HD Graphics 4000.I closed the lid yesterday after doing some work, then opened it up about an hour later. No life. The power button lit, but there was no sounds, nothing on the screen, no beeps. The HD works fine (I have an external case I used to test it out), the memory doesn't seem to be the issue. The battery had about half-power at the time, and when plugged in the charging light is lit. Without the battery and only the plug there's no change.
I press the power button, the power light is lit, stays lit, but nothing else happens. At this point, I'm pretty sure it's my motherboard, but I'm not entirely certain, and I'm not sure about what I can get as a replacement. The parts list for my service tag doesn't seem to specify the motherboard independently.
I have a dell inspiron 15r 5521 laptop. Yesterday when I tried to turn it on it won't boot, even the POST or the BIOS won't show up. I removed the battery and power supply and press down the power button for a long time and repeated it a lot of times too but no luck. I removed the HDD, RAMs and the CMOS battery and kept it that way for 5 mins and put them back in but it was still the same. I noticed that whenever I enter the ac adaptor into the laptop the fan moves for like 100millisecond and the light on the caps lock button lights up for the same amount of time then it all goes silent. Same happens when I press the power button with only the battery inserted.
All what happens when I try to turn it on is that the power indicator light on the laptop turns on(white color, which is the normal color for this laptop), and that's it. The light don't blink or anything at all. No beep sound. The fan, HDD everything remains silent. Only that light stays on until I unplug it from ac and remove the battery. Pressing down the power button doesn't turn it off either. No other indicator light such as the wifi's, hdd's, battery's light doesn't turn on.
My Inspiron 17 3721 won't turn on and beeps and pauses for a second and beeps again. It is just a black screen and to make it stop beeping I have to hold my power button down for 5 seconds. It is a windows 8.

(At first it gave 4 short beeps, then after I took out the RAM and reinstalled, now I only get 2 short beeps.) I have tried installing only 1 of the 3 RAM cards in each slot, but each time I get the 2 short beeps.

When i went to turn it on it was very dark and i couldn't adjust the brightness. I couldn't get pass the log on screen so i held down the power button but it would not turn off so i took out the battery. I put the battery back in and left the laptop alone till i got home. I thought that the problem with the screen was a wire came loose or something of that nature so i took apart the screen and made sure everything was plugged in. I put it back together and put the battery back in and went to turn it on to see if the screen problem was resolved and it wouldn't boot or anything. I don't get any beeps, fans, or lights that turn on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Dell N5110 is about 14 months old - Windows 7, 650GB HD, 8GB RAM (originally 6GB before I upgraded the memory chip). Up until about 2/2/13, I was able to turn it on, put it in hibernation, etc., but suddenly, I could not turn it on (I had it plugged in overnight, perhaps it was in Sleep mode). I saw no lights, no beeps, no black screen as described by others - just empty screen, no power, nothing.
I waited over a week before I decided to bring it in to get service (my schedule didn't permit me to do so earlier). In the meantime, I kept trying everyday to get it work - I removed the battery, I reseated the memory chips, I clicked the power button on for multiple times, held it down for 30+ seconds, clicked every key on the keyboard, used two different power adapters (one had a blue light to indicate that it was powered), tried to used the AC adapter without a battery, all to no avail.
Eight days after the initial discovery (and a few days before I had planned to bring it in), I tried once more - removed the battery, reseated the memory chips, et. al. and then clicked the power switch (did not use a power supply). Unbelievably, IT TURNED ON! I was so shocked that I immediately took all of my personal information right off and did not turn it off again until I had cleaned the hard drive off. I reluctantly shut down the PC and was able to restart it again! And it was working fine until just this past Friday (3/29/13) where it is now dead again. I think that it went into sleep mode as I just closed the monitor and I saw the lights go off.
I have a feeling that my machine went into sleep mode and it still "thinks" it is sleeping and it can't be turned back on. Perhaps what I saw earlier was the complete draining of the power resources which rendered the machine completely cold so it was able to restart? Was there a Microsoft service release that could have caused this to happen? I have not changed my power settings to prevent the machine from sleeping but if I can get it restarted again, I will definitely change the setting.
I am having troubles with my dell inspiron 1545. It has been working fine, but I just tried to switch it on, and it won't boot. After pressing the 'on' button, the cd drive flashes and makes a noise, like it normally does when I switch the laptop on. Then nothing happens for a whole minute, and then a loud repetitive beep starts. It's 4 beeps in a row, which then gets repeated. I have let the beep continue, but it doesn't seem to stop, unless I either press the 'on' button again or take the battery out.

I had to order a replacement screen to replace the original one which cracked after being stepped on by my boyfriend. The computer still worked then though if plugged in through an external monitor (like VGA or HDMI), but since I replaced the screen, even that won't work. I might have severely messed up by being impatient and forgetting to take the battery out before replacing screens. After I replaced them, realized my mistake, and took the battery out and put it back in again, it still wouldn't get past the problem: When I turn it on, charging or not, the power light and sleep mode light blink very slowly (blue), and the laptop beeps every ten seconds or so. The screen won't turn on at all either, even if plugged into an external source. I've tried it with and without the battery in and it hasn't turned on either. After further research of the problem, the most promising thing seemed to be reinstalling the BIOS (google "Acer Dead Screen Problem"), and I downloaded it off Acer's website and tried running it via flash drive as all the tutorials wanted me to. Nothing happened. The only difference from the tutorial is there's supposed to be an executable file with the BIOS download, but it wasn't in the folder.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently went to turn my computer on after putting it into hibernation, and was greeted with an error screen telling me one of my RST drives had failed. After hitting CTRL-I and going into the config for it, I was able to disable RST completely and get my computer to boot back up. However, the "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" monitoring program now shows no RST drive, and I am not sure how to troubleshoot it further without potentially affecting my C: drive. The computer is also running noticeably slower, though I would guess that's because it no longer has the SSD available.
I have already run the pre-startup diagnostics (F12 at boot) and have found no errors. I would like to know if this is something that can be corrected on my own, or if I will have to request parts or service from Dell. For reference, the laptop is a 7720R.
My Lenovo T500 will not turn on, despite being plugged into the wall. Even when it's plugged in, none of the indicator lights show that the computer is plugged in. It also won't turn on using the battery.

I forgot too say it is Windows 8.
I hit enter eight times, and I get a choice of entering a password or continuing, when I continue I can go on to windows. If I choose enter a password I get a blue window with a KEY. I can take the eight digit number key, and enter it in a program on another computer, 'allservice.ro/acer' which gives me the password. I enter the password into my laptop (acer aspire E1-531-2438) and it leaves the blue window, and I can continue either with the HDD loading windows 7, or I can load a cdrom or dvd.
This is great. But if I reboot, and hit F2, I enter the BIOS, and choose security, and I see that the HDD password is still set. If I hit enter, I can enter the HDD password, but when I enter the one I just used, it tells me it is invalid.
I have also tried to kill the power, and startup again going into BIOS, but the HDD password I just used is still invalid.
Do Vaio Z Series laptop owners use their laptop as their main primary computer or a secondary computer? Do Vaio Z series owners also have a desktop pc as their primary computer and use their Vaio Z Series as a secondary computer? Or is your Vaio Z Series laptop your one and only computer that you always use? Is it comfortable using the 13 inch screen for long periods of time?
Reason i ask is some people have more then one computer and some people just have one.
I'm just wondering if the Vaio Z Series laptop is a good choice as a main computer since it's got good specs and it's nicely portable but will the 13 inch screen be ok to use for long periods even at the higher 1600 x 900 resolution?
