Dell :: 3DMark05 World Record On 7950GTX 11060 Points 705mhz Core
Aug 16, 2007
I have tweaked this puppy pretty hard in the last week or so since I have put it in my 9400. I had the T5200 and 7900GS at 675-1200 and was only pulling off 8400's on 3d05.
I have since swapped to a T7400 and the beast 7950GTX, then proceeded to bios mod the heck out of it. I lowered the geometric delta to clock it self -45mhz under the core shader clock. This means when I clocked my card stock it would hit a wall at 660-670 core and that is usual the geometric delta clock stopping us from cranking these higher.
Now I have the core to 705 and that lets the geometric delta run at 660 since I have lowered its ratio in NiBitor. It will go all the way to 730's before it starts to aritifact. I also ran the ram up to 1720 on these runs (860 DDR). I can email anyone this bios and also have screen shots to host when I get time. This thing is rock solid stable at 680 all day long benching and gaming if anyone is interested in that little fact. The 7900GS works well with this delta mod also I had its core to 670's on that but it was a revision 1 so it sucked for memory overclocking as it only went to 1200DDR. Someone with a unlocked CPU needs to do this and crush my scores. I have hit close to 6200 on 3dmark 06 but someone with a 7600G will get me if they used my bios or edit them selves. I was the one with the Gen2 XPS 6800 ultra that was pulling 6800's on 05 a couple years ago that put up a world record also.
on 575/475 i scored 7100, on 550/450 i just played bf2142 on high settings and it ran at 60fps or so, give or take, i just installed windows xp on my 1720, it came with vista all i had to do was switch something with the hd in the bios, im using ntune to overclock. my system is a t5450 1.66,1g 667mhz ram,120gb 5400rpm hd, nvidia 8600m gt, using driver 165.01.
I have a dell inspiron e1705, and my dvd player is not playing the dvd at certain points on it.
i tried playing it in another dvd player of mine, and it worked fine. is it my computer, or hardware/software?...
it makes sounds like it is trying to read it... made sure to clean off the disc {did it several times}. this is not the first time that this has happened either...
For example, why can't they find another way to attach the power jack instead of solidering in onto the motherboard? A different typr of set up is needed, as they usually will work loose from the MB, and need to be repaired or replaced- An expensive fix .....
Im only just burning the factory DVD restore of my system via Acer eRecovery Management. I should have done this a long time ago right when I first recieved my laptop. What ends up on the factory restore DVD?
Another question, my laptop really has noticably slowed down since purchase. I know this is natural...especially as I currently have lots of games installed...only 9GB currently free on C.
This free space varies drastically day to day as restore points seem to automatically be generated by vista. I think this automatically takes place when vista downloads and installs updates. How can I change this? It's annoying as I have a consitently fluctuating amount of free space on C..I frequently delete these points using Tune Up Utilities 2008 which brings me back to the norm.
Also, the D partition seems like a huge waste of space to just leave as it is. There are 103GB free on this partition with only two windows folders existing on there. I have never touched this partition thinking it is there only for disaster situations, like if vista dies and wants to make an image of itself here. Is this correct or can I move other files onto this partition? Will this increase performance?
Im just trying to increase the speed of my laptop day to day workings. My girfriend was saying that the D partition can maybe be somehow partitioned to speed up the laptop?
Even though the desktop refresh took quite awhile, it is to my understanding that you can expect a refresh with Macbooks and MBP's every 6 to 8 months, which should put the refresh sometime between 8 days from now (unlikely) to 2 months and 8 days from now.
Is that a likely assumption, or am I missing something here. And yes, I am well aware of the CPU speed bump in the top two MBP's, what I am talking about is an all around refresh, with exception to body structure obviously.
Similar to a post about the T530 I used to record streaming audio (internet radio, youtube, playback etc.) with Snagit on my old computer, now on new W530 I cannot find "line out, mono out, wave out," devices to record from, only "microphone".Â
On the Lenovo W530 using Windows 8 Pro I followed the follwoing steps posted elsewhere for the T530:  Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Recording ... right-click to check Show Disabled Devices, then choose Stereo Mix as Default (may also want to right-click on Stereo Mix and double-check Properties: make sure Listen level is not at zero)  After showing disabled devices on the sound > recording tab the tab still shows only one device, the "Microphone".  If it is possible how on  Windows 8 or the W530 (and possibly other models) do we get the line out / mix out / mono out / whatever they call it for the sound that comes out of the computer? Â
I used to record streaming audio (internet radio, youtube, playback etc.) with Audacity on my old T43; now on new T530 no matter how I configure Realtek sound and Audacity I cannot. On the T43 I recorded using "SoundMAX Digital Audio: Wave out". Wit other soundcards it could be "Stereo mix". I get no option of choosing either Wave out or Stereo mix in Audacity.Below is an extract of Audacity WIKI page: URL....According to this information the issue might be Lenovo disabling the possibility of direct recording???  "Sometimes "Stereo Mix" can only be made to work by using the control panel supplied by the sound card manufacturer - this is often reported with RealTek inbuilt sound devices. Try launching the sound device control panel from the Windows Control Panel or the system tray (by the clock). If you see a volume control for Stereo Mix, try clicking to select it. Confusingly, some RealTek devices "select" an input by muting all but one, so in this case, mute everything except stereo mix. If you don't see Stereo Mix, click the wrench icon and enable Stereo Mix in the dialogue that pops up.
In some RealTek versions the option to check is "Enabled recording multi-streaming". You should now see a volume control for Stereo Mix. Remember to select or unmute it as above. Be aware that on some machines, the "Stereo Mix" option will never work because it is disabled internally by the driver settings due to copyright concerns. This is a known issue with Lenovo Thinkpad laptops, but sometimes editing the driver files can enable stereo mix."
I need to record audio output, but there is no "Stereo Mix" in Sound>Recording. I understand that this is a common issue with some laptops. Aspire 4830T?
I bought the Acer 1410 with the single core SU3500 Core 2 Solo CPU. It looks like Acer decided to release them with the SU2300 now, which is dual core at 1.2GHz (compared with 1.4GHz of SU3500).
Does anyone have any benchmarks comparing the two, and/or if they have a solid understanding how much better it would perform compared with the SU3500? I also see that the single core AS1410 with Celeron M @ 1.3GHz sells at the same price as the dual core.
upgrading my Aspire 5570 notebook more than a year ago. This time, I’m feeling lucky to share some of my experiences about how I finally upgraded my CPU from a Core Solo T1350Core 2 Duo T7200.
Again, thanks to everybody here in Notebookreview forum especially adinu, hoggie, Mack1982, TehSuigi, krazyphire and bigozone for their insights and knowledge that helps me a lot throughout the whole process. So, let’s get started!
Pre-upgrading
Please refer to these post before you start. It'll save you a lot of time and trouble later on. Upgraded Acer 3680 Celeron CPU to a T5300! Aspire 5315 CPU Step-by-Step Upgrade Guide
What you’ll need :Your new CPU (make sure it's compatible with your system ie; socket, FSB)Latest BIOS from Acer (upgraded to 1.3505 or latest)A good thermal paste (I would recommend Tuniq TX-2 or Arctic Silver 5 as well)Basic tools (screwdrivers, forceps, kitchen paper)Body static discharger (I would definitely recommend this as a precaution)Some alcohol, ear buds, sand paper grid 600,1200 & 2000 (optional for heat sink lapping)Lastly TIME and PATIENCE (you’ll be needing these a lot definitely!)When you’re ready, lets get our hands dirty.
How to disassemble your notebook? I found out a very good video tutorial on how to disassemble my Aspire notebook on YouTube. So please take your time to view it and follow step by step as shown to help you to go through the process.
Lapping your heat sink (optional) Although it’s not necessary, but I would recommend this process as another way to improve heat dissipation on your newly installed CPU. Refer to this page for detailed instructions.
The simple process:Clean your heat sink from old thermal paste residues with alcohol or equivalent of it using ear buds and kitchen papers.Apply a 600-grid sandpaper to smoothen the heat sink surface which comes into contact with your CPU.Repeat the process again with a 1200-gid sand paper until you’re satisfied. Finally, finish up by applying a 2000-grid sand paper to give you an almost mirror-finished surface. Wipe clean any dirt and residues left.....................................
I want to upgrade my old laptop to something nice, and am torn between to systems.
An HDX 16 with:
2.40 Ghz dual core duo ( P8600 chip ) 6 gigs of ram
OR...
An HXD 18 with 2.0 Ghz QUAD core ( QX9000 chip ) 4 gigs of ram
both systems have the same video card ( Nvidia with 512megs of ram ) 500 gig hard drive.
What would be the faster machine for doing video ? and what would be the overall faster machine ?
I realize that not all applications will take advantage of a quad-core chip like the QX900, so this is why I"m asking. if the dual-core P8600 chip @ 2.40 Ghz in the HP HDX 16 with that 6 gigs of ram will actually be faster overall than the quad core would be, and perhaps even be faster at rendering video ?
I have an xps m1710 with 2 gig ram, 7900gtx card and a core duo 2 ghtz processor. My company has decided they are willing to pay to upgrade my CPU to a core 2 due 2.16 ghtz. Should I take the upgrade?
Aside from the fact thats free and all, my real concern if it will yield better gaming performance and battery life.
i have been playing wow on my studio 15 and i have been getting around 18-25 fps. is this normal? (its a little tiny bit jerky but nothing big) but the good news is that the loading screens dont take forever anymore . just would like to know if this type of fps is normal. and what can i do to possibly improve the fps. (without giving up terrain distance at least)
I'm thinking of getting the studio XPS 13 but have some concerns. I tried searching the forum but didn't find anything related to this.
1. How is this laptop for gaming? I'd like to be able to play World of warcraft at 30+ FPS in pretty much any situation with medium graphic settings (native LCD res, shadows OFF,everything else medium high).
This means I don't want to lag in PVP or PVE, but I don't mind a little lag in big cities like dalaran. Assume 4GB ram and higher end CPU, running on AC power. I want to have 30+ fps in all the BGs and arena but dont mind some lag in wintergrasp .....
Just wondering has anyone played it on the 1330? because i was just wondering if these are bad fps ratings most of the time i get 30 but then some other times id be running at 8-12 fps alot of the time and it seems if i restart my computer it helps. this is with all settings on lowest as well.
Furthermore, i tend to get a burning plastic smell a lot of the time I did get it replaced about 8 months ago for a gpu failure.
I just got a 7950GTX for my Dell E1705 from Ebay, my questions is, is there any way I can check to make sure this is indeed 7950GTX not some fake 7900GTX with bios mod. I just ran a quick 3DMark 05 with 90w power supply and got like 7250 score... I am waiting for that 130W power supply,
For all you WoW players out there who have purchased Studios with the ATI 3650 graphics chip, could you please give some feedback on gameplay / framerates.
My main concern is whether or not the laptop can handle the game at 1920x1200 resolutions, and failing that 1400x900, both being set at max settings.
I specifically ordered the 1400x900 screen so as not to overburden the video chipset, but if the 3650 is up to snuff, the full HD resolution would be a nice bonus and would easily warrant a re-order.
before I state my problem I should state that I do not have the latest windows updates installed (installing now) yet.
When I insert world of warcraft to install on my brand new Dell XPS M1530, I get all the way up until disc 5, and then the drive seems to freeze and it won't read disc 5.
On top of that, it won't read ANY cd or dvd unless I restart my computer (in which case it all works fine again, except disc 5) does anyone know why this is?
I just bought a 7950GTX for my e1705/9400 and installed fine. The board seems to work smooth in both XP and Vista. But since I want to work with quad-buffer-stereo modes (in XP), I want to turn this board to a quadro one. As far as I read, 7950GTX is the same board with FX3500M.
This transformation job could be done either with two ways. Software... using Rivatuner bla bla. And by flashing the board to another using nvflash and -6 -5 -4 parms. For my own reasons, I didnt want to do it with any kind of software and I tried the hard way.... Result??? Nothing!!! After I flashed my 7950GTX to a FX3500M, on the first reboot everything became black! The board seems to be not recognized by my machine or was not working So, I had to re-flash it back again to it's original state.
Does anybody from here has already done this before? Because from what I saw personally, must be one of the following cases:
1) the 7950GTX cannot run with an FX3500M bios! So the boards are NOT exactly the same.
2) the bios I used for quadro (FX3500M G71 board p469h7g v05.71.22.45.05) is not compatible with my board (7950GTX G71 board p468h6 v05.71.22.46.06) and I may need another
3) my Inspiron e1705/9400 with the latest bios A09 (but also with the older A08) cannot recognize and boot properly with any FX3500M board.
In case that someone has a FX3500M already installed and working on a 1705/9400, please let me know about board's bios version and I may need a copy of his rom.
Also, If somebody knows if this could be done please let me know too.
