Dell :: Awsome Games For XPS 1530
Sep 16, 2008I'm assuming that many of you are gamers since you purchased the XPS.
Can you give me any recommendations on games that really take advantage of the XPS 1530 and are awsome to play?

i want to ask is what are the sort of games that the xps 1530 can handle well and are tried and tested and known to work nicely ? Before i start investing money in buying games.
i want to have an idea whether or not they'll look good on it.........................
Just received Vostro 1220 laptop from dell India with following configuration .....
View 4 Replies View RelatedI noticed that alot more games are available for mac now than there used to be so I was wondering if I play the same game in windows vs OSX will there be a difference?
I mainly install bootcamp and win 7 for games only on my macbook pro but maybe I wont do that this time if the games run just as good in OSX.
I only use laptops for some wifi, docs and music but I thought it was time for a slight upgrade so I found a deal on a Studio 15 and bought it.
I would like to start playing some games, not serious, but just some fun games to pass the time.
Below is my config, I am not sure what kind of games it can handle.
The system ended up costing me $735 brand new at Dell with my discounts.
Take a look and let me know what I can play (games) on it ......
Thinking about getting the 14z and I know the 9400m isn't the best graphics card, but I noticed the memory is 1000mhz+ on the 14z which leads me to believe the 14z probably can handle games quite well since the 9400 uses that memory.
Can it handle Left 4 Dead or World in Conflict on medium well? Any users with experience or could tell me the frames per second they are getting would be awesome.
I really don't want to move up to the 15inch model and get the ATI 4570 which will suck up battery life and is bulkier.
I am buying a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Intel core 2 P8700 processor rated at 2.53GHZ with 3MB of L2 cache, 4GB DDR2 800MHZ ram, 500GB hard drive rated at 5200RPM, ATI 4330 Radeon HD video card with 256MB of VRAM, and Sound blaster software enabled AUDIO Card.
Also, there are some other stuff like Bluetooth and bluray drive etc etc. It all comes with WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM WITH 64BIT. It has intel GM45 chipset which supports 1066 FSB and it also supports ddr 2 and ddr3....can i upgrade to ddr3 late on since intel states that it supports both? http://www.intel.com/products/notebo...5-overview.htm
Now the question, i m NOT going to play any GAMES on this laptop but i would watch alot of 1080P movies or u could say i would watch bluray movies. Is this laptop going to be sufficient enough to handle all high resolution videos? including YouTube's 1080P videos?....
AGAIN, i m not playing any GAMES on it....should i get this laptop or should i get studio 1558? since i m not playing any games, do u think i m jus gonna waste more money on studio
I've decided to forget the cheap laptop and am looking to buy an m90 or 1720. Which will game better M90 with 256mb quadro or 1720 with 256mb 8600gt?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have the p9xxx (don't remember exact), 4gb, 256ssd and 256 Quadro card and even playing 1 miniclip game, it lags like NUTS. Also, if I open like 4 or 5 youtube videos in browser tabs, it goes SLOW AS HECK! I have upgraded all drivers and even gotten a driver from NVidia's site. I know this isn't a gaming machine, but come on.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIm looking to get Tomb raider Underworld for my wife to play on our Studio 15. Anyone running that game or know if it will be ok to run reasonable settings?. Its a core2 2.oghz 3gb ram setup.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've got a quick question about Lord of the Rings Online on the 1645 (46701gb) if anyone else knows much about that. In most games, such as Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age, etc, when I'm playing at 720p,
the game scales up to fill the entire screen, and LOTRO *used* to do that, but it seems like after installing the 10.3 Preview ATI drivers, it refuses to do so anymore, even after uninstalling CCC/The ATI Drivers and reinstalling 10.2 or the latest driver released by Dell.
(Though come to think of it, I never did run Driversweeper..) Has anyone ever ran into these sorts of issues with games on the 1645? Cheers!
Why is it when I play Freedom fighters on my M1710 that it seems to play it at 3x the speed? Its like a video in fast forward. I remember Splinter Cell used to do this on my old 8600, why the hell do games do this and what can I do to fix it?

1. farcry --- can be run on maximum resolution 1920x1080 with maximum settings.

I'm generally not much of a gamer, but will probably be playing alot of Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 when they come out. Of corse this is asking for speculation but how would the current card in the 1640 handle these games?
I realize that there is going to be a new vid card coming, but my current laptop recently died, and I need to buy a new one pretty soon.
I my games COD 4 and COD 5 is my mouse laggy ,why?
i change my resulutions, my foreware,
how much FPS has half-life 2, unreal tournament 2004 and CS: source onto max settings(and 1440*900), but without AA?
View 6 Replies View Relatedwell a friend of mine cant get 2 games on his lappy so he's giving them to me. The games are GTA IV and Mirror's Edge. I was wondering how my m1530 would put up against these games.im not looking to max them out but what fps would i get if i installed them?
View 10 Replies View Relatedi am a gamming freak and i play lots of games most time... but in the newly purchased machine..
dell studio 1555 it runs games fine... so cant resist to play for long hours...i do also consider the machines health...
Ever since I installed Windows 7, every time I try running a game that I could play just fine before installing Windows 7, such as Rome: Total War, my computer crashes when I actually start playing the game (as in I can see the map and I tell one dude to move and then the game crashes).
When I say it crashes I mean that the screen turns black but the computer is still running and the fan is on and whatnot, but I am unable to make the computer do anything and I have no choice but to hold down the power button to manually shut off the computer.
I was wondering if its possible to install games onto my laptops second HDD. Right now, its the D: drive. I tried installing BF2 to this drive but an error said its "unsafe." Is there any way around this? The HDD is a Hitachi HTS723225L9A362 ATA.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWell this is odd. I had to re-install everything for my computer because I got a new hard drive, a Hitachi 7k200.
Well I installed all the factory drivers from Dell and went to play SWAT 4, and when I play it glitches, seems to run fine for a little bit, but once I get into the actual game and the AI has to respond or lots of sounds come up, my game starts to loose frame rate and act quite oddly (bodies falling oddly and choppily)
I'm using my E1705 w/ Windows MCE 2005.
Until last week this lappy had the old 80Gb HD and Win XP Pro SP3. I play several online games (Silkroad Online, Battlefield Europe, Steam games) and they all played great.
After 4yrs it had some major issue last week that I couldn't recover from, so I picked up a WD Blue 250GB HD and had Win 7 Home Premuim (bought 4 copies for all the PC's here)
After much driver searching, everything works awesome on it except my games. The keep doing a Pause - Pause - Pause. I have been digging into everything, all sorts of video drivers, etc and nothing has helped. Wonder if its something with the Dell 1350 or Broadcom 440x controller. I've looked for the latest drivers from all over but nothing has helped. Surfing, Videos, Office 2007 all work great. It never crashes.
Any ideas? I tend to think its something in the network part of it. Note, my much older and less powerful desktop is running Win 7 RC and has no issues with games. (I race in several rFactor Leagues)
Also the network here is very solid, a Buffalo 54G and all the laptops connect great, and like I said - no issues gaming with Win XP before.
Have not had a laptop for a while and when I did get them, I would not hang on to them for long as I never had the need for them. However, my new job will require the use of one. Nice part - they are paying for it.
Ordered the 1530 a few days ago, loaded. Maxed everything out and also opted for the Solid State hard drive. Hopefully it works as advertised.
I do have just a few questions -
1 - Why did Dell pull the higher resolution panels from the options? Only had the option of 1440?
2 - Is Dell still including all the standard XPS goodies you normally get? The case, cd holder, ear buds.. etc etc or have they gotten cheap and no longer do that? Would suck if they don't.
3 - Lastly, I have read about some issues with the Nvidia GPU. I have also read that Nvidia has rectified this issue. Is that the case with newly built/shipping XPS systems?
After 10 days of using my new XPS 1530, I will give it a 8 of 10 rating.
This is a great laptop. Looks great with a solid build. Great performance too. It is more then I thought it would be. A great value especially with the EPP discount I got it with.
The only flaws that I have noticed are the placement of the power connector being on the left side towards the back of the unit with the 2 USB ports very close to it. It seems very cramped to me. Also could have at least 2 more usb ports. But a USB hub takes care of that. I find this setup very ackward. Also the headphone jack being in the front. Again ackward to me. The speakers are very weak also. Finger print reader is very problematic also.
My kids have wrecked my screen (xps m1530). It was REALLY beautiful, 1440 x 990 LG philips one, am really annoyed. Thanks to your posts on this forum, I found the dell p/n XP059 and know my screen is the LPLDF00 one. Called Dell parts today and the guy said that he would need the EXACT number which can only be found on the actual screen itself; this is the only way he could guarantee it would be the LGphilips one. He didnt seem to think the LPL number would ensure that. Does anyone know what number he is talking about - a bit reluctant to open up the screen casing etc (I'm still using the half that is working!) until its time to fix it. Is there any way to get this number without opening up?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just ordered my XPS. Well, I got the final quote for my wife to turn into her employer so they can order it and do the payroll deduction thing. So we get interest free payroll deductions for 18 month or so...pretty cool. So it should be ordered in the next few days.
They had the 40% off promotion going on, so that took it down to $1604 from its 'MSRP' price. I did a bit of haggling via email. I told him my wife wanted an Apple...but most of all, we were concerned about price. I then got my 12% EPP discount, which brought it to its final price of $1412. Below are the specs. I think I got a decent deal.
T9300 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB 667MHz DDR2, 250GB 7200RPM HDD, 1680x1050 WSXGA+ LCD, 256MB 8600GT video, 8X DVD-RW, Intel Wireless N, Bluetooth, Vista Home Premium, 6 cell battery, and a second AC power adapter.
