I have an Inspiron 15R laptop and I have found the touchpad to be very, very sensitive. I have found the adjustments but have not been able to decrease the sensitivity to my liking. So, I disabled the touchpad and installed a wireless mouse that I had used in the past but it now appears to have quit working. Is there a way to get to the control panel to re-enable the touchpad?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy cousin has an Inspiron 1525 laptop which has had an issue of booting. Randomly one day she received the following message, "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive". It also said from below "Boot to CD by pressing any key" that the "BOOTMGR is not found".
I received the laptop in this state. I booted from the CD (Windows install disc) and was able to reinstall Vista. I then updated all the drivers and had everything working like a charm. I thought I had hit jackpot with an easy reformat. After about 4 hours of having it running perfectly, as I was installing Windows updates, I received the "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive" message. Now I cannot boot into Windows and booting from the CD no longer works.
Here are some of the specs:
T2390 Dual Core 1.86Ghz
2GB RAM
160GB SATA HDD
Is the hard drive dying? Is it the SATA controller? The motherboard? Anyone have any ideas or past experiences?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. It has a Intel Celeron 540 1.86Ghz CPU. I would like to upgrade the cpu in it. I would like at least a Core 2 Duo. What processor will work well and fit in this laptop.

I'm having a serious problem with my laptop right now and I'm fearing the worst: a bad motherboard, a problem which I have found to be pretty common with 1525 users through Google/forum searches.
Hopefully someone out there can relate and has a remedy that will save me money/time/hassles with my laptop, which by the way has been out of warranty for about 6 months.
I purchased the 1525 last April (2008) direct from Dell. Here are the vital specs: Inspiron 1525, Intel Core 2 Duo T5550, 1.83GHz, 667Mhz, 2ML2 Cache. I've never really had any problem with it until yesterday morning. I woke up and pressed the power button after allowing the system to hibernate the night before. The power LED lights up in the bottom left and the touch-sensitive media buttons flash from side-to-side like normal
I was watching a Family Guy episode off the internet probably not a good idea, but About half way through it started to freeze up and skipping.
It then immediately went to a blue screen for a about 5 seconds with numbers and letters and shut off. I turned it back on. It loads a little and comes up to Windows has found a error or something. Says Start in Safe Mode (Windows Recovery Repair) SOmething like that .....
I'm planning to buy a portable speaker for my Dell Inspiron 1525. Is there any type of speaker that will work best,or will any kind speaker work on my laptop?
I prefer the speaker to be portable and can be used also with any audio devices.
There both basically the same. Which one would you get? Im going to be getting one of them from best buy in the new few days but dont know which one to get. Im going to be financing it so it has to be from there. They got the 1525 for $750 with a core 2 duo t5750, 3gb ram and 250gb hardrive. I dont know if they got the Studio 15 but on the dell site the configuration seems the same!

LCD Bezel with camera slots
Screws - All screws for the laptop if possible

Here's what my laptop does.
It doesn't play DVDs. I try 10 times and then it successfully plays a DVD, but the first few tries it freezes up after 1 preview.
It makes a clicking noise on the inside at any given time during use. It makes me think it's sitting at a bad angle, so I move it around. I don't think that's the problem; I sit it flat
I need a laptop mostly for travel and word processing, watching streaming video online, chating ect... but to be able to play WoW when I travel would be icing in the cake.
These are the stats. What kind of playability would I get with this? At 600 bucks it seems like a decent laptop for travel....
After doing some research and reading,I'm looking to purchase a Latitude E6400 from the outlet.
I can't decide which processor to get. I found two configurations with the same price but different processors.
One has the T9400 and the other has the P8600. Should I go with the T9400 since it has a 6mb cache? If you had to chose , what would you guys consider the best option?
so a replacement 14z that they sent me no longer can go down to .875v, but only to .9250.
I've tried changing between 32 and 64 bit, between vista and windows 7, and it even between different drivers.
I'm beginning to think that it's the cpu itself, because everything inside should be basically the same.
I got a studio 1555 a few months ago, with p8600, now they are coming with the i7-720qm
Which is better, why, and how much better is it?
Do you think I am at a big disadvantage?
Is the i7-720qm core 2 duo as well, sorry I don't fully understand processors.
And what exactly is the i7 technology?
when I got my 9400/E1705 I was always sad for not having the AHCI option available in the BIOS.
This was asked for so many times:
- "Notebooks BIOS should support AHCI"

- "Enable AHCI in Dell Notebook BIOS"

- "Please give us BIOS support for SATA AHCI mode on Inspirons!"
Please give us BIOS support for SATA AHCI mode on Inspirons!
- "Give us real bios control"

- "Bios release"

In the Sony forum, they have found a way to activate these options even if they're not present in the BIOS:
How to Enable Intel VT and AHCI on a Napa/Santa Rosa platform Phoenix BIOS Vaio laptop

The only item you'll need is a bootable DOS media. Click one of these links for instruction for creating a bootable floppy disk (with USB floppy drive) or usb stick.USB flash1 or USB flash2 or CDR (add modified table file to image before writing).
Instructions:
1.Download symcmos and copy it to your bootable DOS media. This utility is used to modify your Phoenix BIOS settings. Also, download a DOS text editor and copy it to the media if you feel comfortable editing a file in DOS.
2.Go to the BIOS by pressing F2 during start-up, or when the VAIO logo appears, and reset the settings to factory default. Save and reboot.
3.Go back to the BIOS and enable the boot from external devices option. Save and reboot.
4.Press ESC when the VAIO logo appears to bring up the boot selection menu and select the bootable DOS media. At the prompt, type "symcmos -v2 -lDefault.txt", without quotes, and note that there's no space in between the flag and filename. This will create a literal symbol table from the NVRAM named Default.txt which contains all the current BIOS settings. Reboot by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del. If that doesn't work, hold the power button until the notebook turns off.
5.Use the DOS text editor (or boot to another OS and use a text editor there) to edit the generated Default.txt file. Change the following lines and save the modified file to something else (e.g. modified.txt):
For Napa SZs - R0112N0
AHCI: (015C) [0000] ---> (015C) [0001]

Just wondering what the best processor for an Inspiron 9400 is?
I am currently running on a C2D T7400 at the moment, but, would like to upgrade.
While I notice a marked improvement and will there be any issues such as overheating?
I have just gone upto 4mg of Ram and now have a 500mb hard drive, although, didn't realise that I could have got a 7200rpm one until I bought it
So the hinges on this laptop have broken TWICE, requiring my girlfriend to send it in twice, and waiting for the laptop around a month each time. My Gf is last year of highschool and really needs her laptop for school work, and has no other computer.
The problem this time is, that apparently one of the sticks of ram has gone bad and gives a read/write error when the computer is booted up, and gives a bunch of errors when the on-board diagnostics are run. Warranty was extended until the end of this year, but I want Dell to send us a new laptop since she needs her laptop right now. Is there any way I can get her a new updated inspiron? Apparently hinges are a big issue with the 1525, and I can tell that her hinges are going to break in 2-3 months ...
this was truly an impulse buy using the 20% off coupon Dell Outlet sent me earlier in the week. This is a Scratch & Dent model that I'll likely give to my kids.
After coupon, free shipping, and tax, it was $397.
What do you think?

I've been reading up a lot on the Inspiron 1525, and of course in most reviews I've heard the thing I've dreaded most to hear - 'NOT FOR GAMERS'. However, most of those reviews were for the 2gb RAM versions. Anyway, this leads me to my question.
I'm a teenage female, and I'm a CASUAL gamer. I'm sort of in between, because while I do enjoy some PC games, I'm definitely not hardcore enough to desire getting the XPS laptop instead. The games I would play are Left 4 Dead, Maple Story (which basically runs off of crap, I know XD), perhaps a little WoW, Sims 2, etc... I'm more of a console gamer, but I'd really feel kind of cheated if I didn't get a laptop that could provide me with decent PC game gameplay. So I was wondering, since most of those reviews that I read were for the 2gb default model, what if I got 4gigs of RAM instead?
Other things I would use this laptop for are creative writing, art (Photoshop), and basic stuff really. I just want this laptop to be well-rounded. One reason I'm sold on this laptop is a pathetic one - as I mentioned up there I am a female, meaning I am attracted to pretty things. I like the shape and style of the Inspiron 1525 laptop, and the fact that you can get different colors for the laptop itself. I want one to be pretty and colorful. =/
This may all sound really dumb when it's compiled like this, but I figured this would be the only way to get a general answer. Again, I think that 4 gigs might be a bit over-kill, but it's better to be safe than sorry, right?
Dell Inspiron 1525 that has

Home basic sp1 installed and the Vista reinstallation DVD.
The first partition has 240GB and the 2ed 10 which is recovery.I want to format and repartition so it will have 2 partition 120 each.
