I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 that I got new in March 2008, but lately I've been getting a lot of BSODs during normal system use (like web browsing, instant messaging, email, etc.)................................
Just had a BSOD and another suspected BSOD (although I never saw it) in one day... never seen anything like this before.
The one I actually saw was when watching a movie over HDMI, went on for the majority of it and then randomly crashed. Here's what event viewer has to say about it if it's any help:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff80002c07477). A dump was saved in: C:WindowsMinidump122209-14289-01.dmp. Report Id: 122209-14289 .....
I did a factory restore on my XPS m1530 laptop a while ago. Afterward it starts giving my blue screen of death. The most common occurring BSOD is memory management upon start up. Then the last time it gave me a pfnlist BSOD.
I got my M1730 in April this year, with the Raid 0 array, 2X160Gb drives, 2X 8800GTX, the physX card, and the 1900X200 display. (and if it matters, the Ivory White colour scheme).
I love the laptop to bits - it was bought to replace a loud, space-filling, 2xdisplay main rig, and it's done that brilliantly.....
...... when it hasn't been crashing.
I've had periods when the M1730 hasn't booted into windows for hours. BSODs all over the place, during windows (vista 32) boot, during windows use. With a Wide variety of crash 'reasons' -
...and a few others that I didn't have a chance to note..
My instinct is to think that it's my mis-management of the new system - I don't particularly like vista, but it uses all the ram i've paid for, and that's good.
But it's crossed my mind that it could be an overheating issue; and it arbitrarily picks a component, or driver to blame.
It actually gave me a RAID0 failure last week - I performed a disck consistency check, and it was all fine..
Ran win7 on my M6300 for quite a while with no problems... M6400 just showed up and I can't seem to work it out. seemingly random BSODs that hit at any time. Analysis shows that the first one was caused by csrss.exe, most after that were caused by ntkrnlmp.exe,
Has anybody else had this happen and figured out which driver is causing the problem? Maybe I should ask "has anybody else installed win7 build 7100 64-bit on a M6400 and *not* had problems like this? If so, what drivers did you install beyond what windows update does for you?"
System config is: Q9300 quad-core proc 4gb RAM on 2 DIMMs 3700M video RGB-LED screen (if that matters) 64GB samsung SSD, 500gb WD 5400RPM HD (aftermarket) as secondary drive verizon rev-a evdo mini-pci card intel 5300 a/b/g card fingerprint scanner
i think that's all the important parts... the first bsod happened before i had installed just about anything at all, other than windows updates. i've been throwing just about every other driver i can find at it to see if i can narrow it down (with the intent of reinstalling from scratch once i figure it out). every time I think I have it figured out, I'll look over at it and notice that it is BSOD'ed or post-bsod rebooting.
I got it back in September, but very rarely, and inconsistently. It's happened maybe 5 times since I've had it, so it's very hard to troubleshoot.
Anyway, I just got another one "Driver IRQL not less than or equal" which could be anything from what I've read. I've run a memory scan with the built in Dell Diagnostics.
So far, uninstalling all of them from Safe Mode brought my system back. Installing (A) and (B) back in resulted in BSOD on boot again. Uninstalled (A) and the BSOD remained. Uninstalled (B) and the BSOD remained. Then I rebooted into safe mode, did nothing, then booted back into normal and the system is OK again.
I reeeeally don't have time to redo the OS from scratch. I'd have to download all like 90 of those Dell drivers and figure out their install order and everything.... Blegh. (Essentially that would mean this laptop sits closed on the shelf until I have time, which will be somewhere around mid-January 2009.)
I've gotten my dv5t since august of 08. Early this year, i did a clean install and after that, I have been getting the same bsod when i play GTA IV and some other games. The codes that I were
0x000001, 0x000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFA600005E5180, and 0x0000000000000001
I'm thinking its heat related but this never happened before I did a clean install.
Specs: T9400 9600M GT 3GB ram
I also undervolted it and have an antec cooler. thanks.
Without undervolting, i reached 91 degrees Celsius for cpu and 86 for gpu. That seems pretty high for me..
My cousin has an Inspiron 1525 laptop which has had an issue of booting. Randomly one day she received the following message, "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive". It also said from below "Boot to CD by pressing any key" that the "BOOTMGR is not found".
I received the laptop in this state. I booted from the CD (Windows install disc) and was able to reinstall Vista. I then updated all the drivers and had everything working like a charm. I thought I had hit jackpot with an easy reformat. After about 4 hours of having it running perfectly, as I was installing Windows updates, I received the "Internal hard drive not found. Reseat hard drive" message. Now I cannot boot into Windows and booting from the CD no longer works.
Here are some of the specs:
T2390 Dual Core 1.86Ghz 2GB RAM 160GB SATA HDD
Is the hard drive dying? Is it the SATA controller? The motherboard? Anyone have any ideas or past experiences?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. It has a Intel Celeron 540 1.86Ghz CPU. I would like to upgrade the cpu in it. I would like at least a Core 2 Duo. What processor will work well and fit in this laptop.
The mute touch sensitive button on mine keeps lighting up blue and mutes my sound on it's own often.. I think I could possibly fix it myself as Dell already sent me a replacement laptop which had a scratch on the screen that bugs me even more than the media button problem...
I have ran the PSA (?) and received an error code of 2000-0142. Does anyone know if this is something I can repair? I would be very grateful for any help.
She really needs this computer for school and funds are super tight around here (with the economy the way it is)
I also ran the "express test" and received this information:
the other day i was playing NFS.. and every 3-4 minutes the laptop would jus shut off..
i hav had a look at the temperatures and on high usage.. it goes upto 89 degrees ..
i dun hav a coolin pad.. bt if thtz wht i neeed.. can some1 reccommend one plz.. i tried mi hand at undervolting.. bt didnt work out.. as in d stress test on d cpu.
i have bought the Notebook six months back Dell Inspiron 1525 Windows Vista 32 bit..
the DellDock is working fine before.. but the problem is one month back raising that Dell Dock has stopped working do u want to clost the program or debug the program..
i have tried to uninstall and instal from the dell url i have downloaded the SW(Dell Dock
I'm having a serious problem with my laptop right now and I'm fearing the worst: a bad motherboard, a problem which I have found to be pretty common with 1525 users through Google/forum searches.
Hopefully someone out there can relate and has a remedy that will save me money/time/hassles with my laptop, which by the way has been out of warranty for about 6 months.
I purchased the 1525 last April (2008) direct from Dell. Here are the vital specs: Inspiron 1525, Intel Core 2 Duo T5550, 1.83GHz, 667Mhz, 2ML2 Cache. I've never really had any problem with it until yesterday morning. I woke up and pressed the power button after allowing the system to hibernate the night before. The power LED lights up in the bottom left and the touch-sensitive media buttons flash from side-to-side like normal
I was watching a Family Guy episode off the internet probably not a good idea, but About half way through it started to freeze up and skipping.
It then immediately went to a blue screen for a about 5 seconds with numbers and letters and shut off. I turned it back on. It loads a little and comes up to Windows has found a error or something. Says Start in Safe Mode (Windows Recovery Repair) SOmething like that .....
I'm planning to buy a portable speaker for my Dell Inspiron 1525. Is there any type of speaker that will work best,or will any kind speaker work on my laptop?
I prefer the speaker to be portable and can be used also with any audio devices.
There both basically the same. Which one would you get? Im going to be getting one of them from best buy in the new few days but dont know which one to get. Im going to be financing it so it has to be from there. They got the 1525 for $750 with a core 2 duo t5750, 3gb ram and 250gb hardrive. I dont know if they got the Studio 15 but on the dell site the configuration seems the same!
It doesn't play DVDs. I try 10 times and then it successfully plays a DVD, but the first few tries it freezes up after 1 preview.
It makes a clicking noise on the inside at any given time during use. It makes me think it's sitting at a bad angle, so I move it around. I don't think that's the problem; I sit it flat
I need a laptop mostly for travel and word processing, watching streaming video online, chating ect... but to be able to play WoW when I travel would be icing in the cake.
These are the stats. What kind of playability would I get with this? At 600 bucks it seems like a decent laptop for travel....
So the hinges on this laptop have broken TWICE, requiring my girlfriend to send it in twice, and waiting for the laptop around a month each time. My Gf is last year of highschool and really needs her laptop for school work, and has no other computer.
The problem this time is, that apparently one of the sticks of ram has gone bad and gives a read/write error when the computer is booted up, and gives a bunch of errors when the on-board diagnostics are run. Warranty was extended until the end of this year, but I want Dell to send us a new laptop since she needs her laptop right now. Is there any way I can get her a new updated inspiron? Apparently hinges are a big issue with the 1525, and I can tell that her hinges are going to break in 2-3 months ...
this was truly an impulse buy using the 20% off coupon Dell Outlet sent me earlier in the week. This is a Scratch & Dent model that I'll likely give to my kids. After coupon, free shipping, and tax, it was $397.

I've been reading up a lot on the Inspiron 1525, and of course in most reviews I've heard the thing I've dreaded most to hear - 'NOT FOR GAMERS'. However, most of those reviews were for the 2gb RAM versions. Anyway, this leads me to my question.
I'm a teenage female, and I'm a CASUAL gamer. I'm sort of in between, because while I do enjoy some PC games, I'm definitely not hardcore enough to desire getting the XPS laptop instead. The games I would play are Left 4 Dead, Maple Story (which basically runs off of crap, I know XD), perhaps a little WoW, Sims 2, etc... I'm more of a console gamer, but I'd really feel kind of cheated if I didn't get a laptop that could provide me with decent PC game gameplay. So I was wondering, since most of those reviews that I read were for the 2gb default model, what if I got 4gigs of RAM instead?
Other things I would use this laptop for are creative writing, art (Photoshop), and basic stuff really. I just want this laptop to be well-rounded. One reason I'm sold on this laptop is a pathetic one - as I mentioned up there I am a female, meaning I am attracted to pretty things. I like the shape and style of the Inspiron 1525 laptop, and the fact that you can get different colors for the laptop itself. I want one to be pretty and colorful. =/ This may all sound really dumb when it's compiled like this, but I figured this would be the only way to get a general answer. Again, I think that 4 gigs might be a bit over-kill, but it's better to be safe than sorry, right?
I have been experiencing overheating problems on my Dell Inspiron 1525. So after dealing with the support@Dell , they are sending down a technician to replace the motherboard and the heatsink
Now, will I need to reinstall my OS ( Windows XP ) after the replacement of motherboard? Will there be driver incompatibility issues? Or can I continue using the system like before , after the replacement without having to worry about the above? ....
i've been given a Dell Inspiron 1525 with water damage to repair.
it doesn't look like a lot of water has gone into it, there's some marks on the metal parts of the internal frame and a little bit of rust marks on the top of the dvd writer drive. There was some corrosion/rust on a couple of the chips which i have cleaned and scrubbed off.
When it's plugged in, the blue battery led comes on, when left on both the power light and the battery light come on aswell as the light under the power button, But it doesn't boot and the fan doesn't start.
at one point the fan did spin but only for about 3-4 seconds and went back off.
