Can anyone confirm if that the correct product code for my Original Quote which stated "17 inch Wide Screen WUXGA RGB-LED LCD for M6400 (320-7312)"..
i'm guessing that its the RGB backlit display i'm expecting. its NOT the covet model.. and I didn't go with the E2E because I wanted more of a matte display..
My other question is:.. is it just me or does the LCD Housing seems to be very flimsy and has lots of flex when lifted from the corners..

1. farcry --- can be run on maximum resolution 1920x1080 with maximum settings.
2. need for speed underground 2--- 800x600 resolution with max settings and above resolution makes frame rates go down .....

The 4GB RAM Module is purchased from newegg. Unfortunately, newegg doesn't ship products to Singapore, so I had to use Vpost (Vpost gave a US address and everything)... Then Vpost will ship it to Singapore.

Installation procedure:
As usual, I only installed the RAM on DIMM A. I have not tested it on DIMM B, not too sure if it works or even to the extent of the BIOS or mobo detecting it.
UPDATED (Friday, Oct 3, 2008; 11:52am): DIMM B also works. See this screenshot for details.
I got myself a black keyboard. Just ignore it. No, it's not an Inspiron E1705 people. My friend from the UK (Migrated here, now living in Singapore) didn't want his Vostro 1700 anymore, so for no reason, he gave me the keyboard.
As usual, open the hinge cover and gain access to the DIMM A RAM underneath the keyboard. Instructions can be found here: [url]
Make sure you slot it properly into the slot...
Once fixed, especially the keyboard and hinge, boot into your BIOS to double check it. Here, it is written as 6142MB.
Also, make sure you're using the latest A09 BIOS released from Dell.
Testing
Things just don't stop here. Just because it "sees" or, "detects" 6GB of RAM, doesn't necessarily mean we can assume that the 6GB will be utilized because, it is widely stated that the 1720 cannot support more than 4GB of RAM, and so as most Santa Rosa machines. The same goes for the others. Here, I did some interesting "Mythbusters" style tests... I got lots of drawings and graphics that I do everyday, like 3DS Max and all those workstation stuff. But specifically, I am going to launch 2 of the most vicious RAM eaters out there. They're non other than Photoshop and Corel PhotoPaint.

Nov 18, 2007I know this as been covered a millions times but I can't seem to find a straight answer. But I am trying to figure out my actual temps on my overclocked 7950 at 650/800
Using I8kfangui my temps are 59 to 82c with out any temp offset
Atitool temps are Identical 59 to 82c
Nvidia Mview is the same 59 to 82c
Now I though there was an 8 degree of set for I8kfangui, but its running the same temps as everything else is this my actual temps or there still an 8 degrees offset making my temps higher?

May 20, 2008Currently i have my screen resolution at 1200x800 and i find it too sharp, the one below that 1280x720 is too squashed and too sharp, the one lower from that is too blurry, but perfect proportions (1024x768)
is there any way i can change to a one in between or something.

Nov 13, 2008Has anyone encountered abnormally long ship dates for recently ordered laptops?
I ordered a Studio 15 / Mini 9 combo about a week ago and the ESD for the Mini 9 is next week, and the ESD for the Studio 15 is early December. In the past I've gotten my custom-ordered laptops within a week of ordering.
I also noticed that the Purchase ID info does not show billing or shipping info, although I did receive email confirmation with that info.
What's going on? Will I receive lemons because Dell is making everyone take unpaid leave?

Aug 7, 2007So for the upcoming school year I purchased an 17' Inspiron notebook (upgraded some components such as graphics card, procceser etc) online on the first of august. I was very surprised when I recieved an email that said the est. ship date was the 17th of august, est. arrival date the 21st! I probably would have just bought a labtop retail at a store somewhere if I had known it would take three weeks for it to arrive!
My question (to those who have purchased dell notebooks in the past or recentely) is whether or not it really takes that long for the notebook to arrive at your doorstep or in fact its not as long. I figure because its summer, maybe they're backed up a bit?
Dell :: Cleaning Ultra-Sharp WUXGA Screen
Apr 6, 2008What do you use to clean your screens with? I have grubby little fingerprints ALL over mine, and it is especially annoying on black screens in movies/games and such.
I almost bought a pack of normal "LCD Cleaning Wipes" but then I noticed it had Alcohol in it and shyed away from it. Why? I'm assuming that Alcohol would hurt the sensitive gloss finish on the screen, but my assumption could be wrong (and hopefully it is, would be much simpler to use those wipes). I also tried just using a dry wash cloth and just gently rubbing the prints off, but it only smeared them, and I'm afraid I'll damage the screen if I push any harder than I already am. Using a wet wash cloth seemed to have no effect either.
So how about it? What method do YOU use, and find best, to clean your screens?
Dell :: Latitude C600 To Sharp Aquos S-Video
Feb 3, 2009I've seen this question repeated on the web a few times but see no satisfactory answer.
I'm connecting S-Video out on the C600 to the S-Video, Input 2, on the Aquos.
When booting the Dell I get a few seconds of an image on the Aquos and then a black screen.
I've tried changing the density of the display on the Dell to see if that would fix it but no it doesn't.
Also, using the Fn F8 combination does not affect the outcome when using the S-Video port.
Dell :: Actual Hardware Difference In 1645 Vs 1647?
May 5, 2010Looked around here but could not find the answer. Are there actual hardware differences between the 1645 and 1647 xps studio 16? Just curious if the 1645 can handle the next gen procs (i5, i7 Arrandale cores). Also can the bios for a 1647 be used on the 1645?
I got forced a 1645 in a system replacment and they would not do a 1647 even after they said they would and I pushed HARD on my end. I now wonder really what the hardware differneces are if any?? Also want to know if this thing will allow future upgrades as to the cpu past the Clarksfield cores it runs now?
Also mine did not come with the SB x-fi software. Is this worth asking for or obtaining?

First part, the one who handles the Windows XP drivers testing is over and published. The chart is composed in 2 parts, one with the results (points for 3DMarks and fps for Crysis games) and one with the information about it. When was launched, if it has WHQL, PhysX and PhysX driver included, CUDA support, GPGPU folding client, Issues, New Features, Original Products supported (if you have a desktop board and you want to keep the WHQL status active)... and a whole article about what does ForceWare means.

If you doenst know what VT is - YOU DONT NEED IT ^^
At first i was a little bit afraid, to take the risk to hack the Bios, but finally i take it.
Not only VT works now fine, also the advanced Bios Setup Screen, let me finetune everything i ever dream from. You could tweak many things, dont do there anything, if you doent know what you do.

Apple :: Sharp Edges On Macbook Pro 13 Inch Latch Opening
Dec 10, 2009i have a 13 inch macbook pro and the latch cut-out area has cut my finger... yes, thats right, it has extracted blood from my index finger. I thought that the edges on the latch area where sharp but this is ridiculous. I want to call up Apple and complain about this.
Any of you ever had any issues with this? Look at your aluminum macbook and see how sharp those two points are where the opening lid latch is and you will see what i am talking about.

Aug 19, 2009I don't know what it is with this laptop and messengers. But NOTHING wants to work. Heres a list of problems
1) AIM wont open (fixed, I had to change port number) So now AIM works on iChat and Adium
2) MSN wont open on the actual application (Mac Messenger) I want to webcam chat with people, and it just WONT start. It starts on adium since I checked the box to use http or something, but I can't webchat on adium.
When I try to open messenger, it says I am not connected to internet, which I clearly am...
I checked my routers firewall. And I am not too sure how to change things on the macs firewall. I just want to use messengers..

May 13, 2009i ordered a 15.6" studio 15 with a LCD panel 1080p (1920x1080). i wanna switch to 720p (1280x720) because i think it's a waste of money, especially if i don't need it (i'll be using it for homework, college, and occasional video games/movies).
1. what are the advantages of 1080p vs. lower resolutions?
2.how would the screen look compared to lower resolutions?
3.how much battery power would it consume, compared to lower resolutions?
4.would it have any other effects on your eyes, compared to lower resolutions?

May 5, 2009My Laptop is Vostro 1500 with WXGA (1280x800) and my friend's ASUS G1S with 1680x1050 panel.
He doesn't like his panel because everything is too small and we decide to change panel.
Vostro panel woking great with the ASUS G1S, but ASUS panel can not work with Vostro, when turn on, the screen split 2 part in POST and change to dark when log on to windows.
We just change the panel, can not change the inverter.
How to solve this problem? Can anyone help me?

Apr 18, 2009There are two different LED Panels used for E4200.
Toshiba is not a good one, which has some bleeding issue.
Samsung is the best, which is soft.
You can figure out which panel you own on your E4200 via looking at the bottom of LED panel (Golden color means that you have a Toshiba one, and Silver one will be Samsung. Toshiba one also shows a lot of small bulbs at the edge, bad, bad...
