I have a Studio 1537 and just now the F key fell off, the top left clip is broken I think, so It's attached via only three clips, and when I push it to the right, it will fall off! I've only had this for five months! ah it's fallen off again.
I've e-mailed dell about a replacement already, but they don't work saturdays unfortunately.
I've had a look on eBay and there seems to be replacement keys for around £4 each, does anyone have any experience of this? But mine is a backlit keyboard, so will need a backlit key
I know that on the dell site it states that the studio only supports 4gb ram. But I know the chipset supports 8gb ram. I was wondering if any one has tried more than the 4gb.When I look at the report from everest, it states that the system supports 8gb.
i just bought a 1537 with the wxga LG Led screen. i cant use this laptop without getting a headache. The screen is toooooooooo bright even turned down as well as adjusting the ati settings of gamma and brightness. its always to bright and strains my eyes.
Ok, so i got a new 1537 as the upgrades in the 1555 didn't impressed me.
But I have some questions... The T3400 has like 55 Celsius in Idle...is it normal? If so...is better to upgrade later to the T6400 or P8400? Also i would like to buy a backlit keyboard and a bluetooth adapter. Is there any store where I can find both? I need shipping to Canada.
I got this computer like two, three months ago and it sucks. Sometimes while I am using the built in mouse my pc will autmatically zoom in on the screen. Sometimes it freezes and I can't use the mouse and I will have to click another screen to get it to work.
It runs slow. In the beginning it would constantly blue screen or have to system restore. Also the speakers suck. Sometimes while outside or other places trying to listen to the speakers they only go so loud.
I called Dell and they said it's a software issue and they need money to help me. Best Buy would probably charge me the same thing after I already shelled out over a thousand buying the computer and warranty.
Sometimes I just want to throw this pc over the balcony so I can get a new one but how do you explain that right? Anyways if someone could help me with these problems I would really appreciate it.
I've bought a Dell 1537 laptop. It is a P8400, 3GB, 250GB, GMA4500MHD, TrueLife 1280x800.
I have some problems with it, and since I'm new to the world of laptops, I thought you might help me out.
I was very dissapointed when I discovered that it has no support for WinXP. I've installed Vista SP1 Business, but I still miss my trusty XP. I've seen that there are some XP drivers on samsware, but I wouldn't install them unless I was assured that they are as good as the latest ones from Dell. (I've installed the latest ones, and flashed the BIOS to A08)
Here are some of my problems: 1)There is a constant noise, from the moment I start the laptop, it sounds like the fan, but I think it's from the HDD(Hitachi HTS543225L9A300). Why would the fan kick in it the cpu has the room temp? I've heard the fan, but when the CPU touched 50C. Is there any chance I could get rid off this noise? Also can I lower the noise of the HDD when it writes?
2)Sometimes I also hear a high pitched noise, I think it's that CPU whine problem. Is there a solution for it?
3)I've removed the IDT drivers, and let Vista install its own, the sound improved a lot, but there still is some sort of a resonance, at medium to high levels. Anyone else had this problem?
4)Can I adjust the size of the memory shared for the video card?
5)I have the impression that the image is not that smooth(I can see the pixels quite clear, and rounded letters/objects seem "pixelated"), and that I have to take a bit of distance from the LCD, to improve it(I'm using the native resolution, the dpi is set to the lowest level, 96dpi if I remember correctly). Any advices? (The colours are OK, but the angles are awful.)
6)Can I hide the partition that came with the laptop? Dunno for sure, what's on it, I assume it is MediaDirect.
7)Is there any chance I could use an external eSATA hdd and boot OS from it?
is it normal for a the fan on a studio 1537 to ramp up every 5 minutes or so? It doesn't go to full speed but its cleary audible and a little annoying. When it happens when I'm just browsing the web etc so nothing is being taxed.
Its about a month old and I have had the fan replaced but didn't really make a difference. Is the controller part of the fan assembly? Is there something else I need to get replaced? or is this the case of the laptop jsut trying to keep optimal temperature?
I have a Studio 1537 with a 3450 graphics card, 500GB HDD, 4GB Ram and a T9400 CPU. After around 20 mintues of the laptop being on the area surounding the touchpad gets quite warm
Saw one of these poll threads over in the hp forums regarding the HDX16t; thought I might start one for the Studio 15's since many people (including me) are experiencing problems with them.
Got a new Studio 1537 and read a lot about the sound being improved by removing the IDT drivers.
The sound on mine isn't great but I've never had a laptop before so have nothing to judge it by.
Are the new 1537's still improved by removingthe IDT drivers or have Dell already improved it. I don't want to uninstall drivers if its not going to make any difference.
Did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on a Studio 1537 and have a few questions. First off is how do I get the Dell backup software installed? My previous OS was Vista 32 bit so as I'm running a 64 bit os the disks that originally came with my computer probably won't be of any use.
I also require the Dell webcam software program. S Dell has a site where you can download this software but like a number of pages on Dell's site, it doesn't seem to work, does not recognize my service tag..
I also need software for the fingerprint reader. I found the driver for it, Authentec Inc but for some reason I can't find my previous software, Digital Persona Fingerprint Software.
Let me correct that, I did find it on their website but for some reason the program never fully installs itself. It says that it's now preparing to enrolling process but never does
I've seen it before but can't remember where on the dell site, does anyone have a link to the instructions for removing/installing an lcd screen on a Dell Studio 1537?
My wife picked up a Dell 1537 and has been experiencing blue screen issues. It only happens when the computer is turned on or restarted.
I have checked the event viewer and there is nothing that looks suspicious or outside the norm. I made sure that drivers were updated. I tried running Memtest86 but it closes and starts to load Windows after running for 10 seconds
I will be getting another Studio laptop for the mrs as we have had a refund for a bust laptop. As the Studios now come with a P8600 2.4Ghz chip as standard now i would like to swap the faster chip to my laptop.
Is this hard to do / possible? How do i remove the chip and will i need to apply any artic silver (my laptop/chip is only 2 months old).... Its been a while since i've installed a chip, last one being a 2.0Ghz Athlon
I have tried to find info on suitable processor upgrade for the 1537 that I am picking up tomorrow. It comes with the T3400 cpu which I am not a big fan of. I currently have a D630 with a T7500,
and was thinking of putting the T7500 into the 1537. However, after some researching, realized that they come from different platforms with diff FSB. Would that be a big problem? is this upgrade worth it?
If not the T7500, What other processor would you recommand? I have seen people using processors with 800mhz FSB, but not sure whats a good processor to upgrade to...
