Oct 2, 2012This is an older laptop that I'm working on for a friend. She don't have enough money for tech support or anything like that. I went through the system to change the ownership to me, hoping that it would facilitate the process.
The only good thing is that I can still boot from a USB drive, though nothing I've tried from that angle works. The HDD is locked down, of course.

Aug 11, 2007i've gotten a Insperion 1501 from a customer. The BIOS and HD require a password. Dell laughs when i call about this issue. Does anyone know the backdoor passwords for this model?
I have pulled the batteries and plug and let it sit over night, the password s still on the machine.

Mar 22, 2013I have an Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop that has a Bios Password Set on it... and the password is not correct that we thought was the one for the laptop.... The password authentication system wont boot the laptop up until we enter the correct password... I have tried all the combinations that we thought the password is or was, but have not had any luck --- that being said the laptop is registered to me/ owned by me --- Can I provide the computer system tag -- that is shown on the screen and getting a reset password to overcome this obstacle.... The service tag is in my profile information and the computer system tag on the laptop bios password sign in screen is B*B*H*1-595B... I intentionally put the three * in the info, so I wouldn't compromise the service tag for my laptop for the world to see and use..
