Dell Inspiron 15r :: How To Change Fan Speed From BIOS
Apr 21, 2013
I recently downloaded A06 version of the Dell Inspiron 15r 5521 bios, and I was wondering if (and how) it is possible to change the fan speeds and temperatures for my system. I can't find any option for this.
does anyone know if there is software or a bios hack to change the ram bus speed? the m1730 is getting beat by a gateway because the bus speed on it is 1066 and it seems like we are stuck at 667.
is there any easy way to change fan speed on my dv9740us by via software? i usually here the fan operating but it doesnt seem to be doin so at mex speed even on max cpu/gpu load
at present im using rivatuner to ic my gpu and rmclock to undervolt my cpu could i possibly use these programs to control my fan? if not then are there any programs that would allow me to do this?
i've set a HDD password in the bios just to see how exactly would it work, but now when i enter the BIOS, i have to option to clear the password.. it says HDD password frozen.
i can change the admin and user password, but i cant remove the HDD password... so now everytime i turn on my laptop, i have to enter my HDD password... in order not to get my thread closed for security reasons, ----------- THE PASSWORD IS KNOWN -------------
The problem with BIOS supervisor's password. I have set this password and I've also set a user bios password. I want to change or disable the supervisor's BIOS password, but there's no way to do that. I can change user's password fine, but the line for supervisor's password is grayed out, so I can't change it. I don't know what to do. How can I log into BIOS using supervisor's password?
I have HP pavilion dv7 which won't let me in BIOS to change boot order.
I have windows 8 32 bit installed and it keep booting normally no matter which key (Esc,F9,F10,F1,F2 etc) at start up, is pressed or keep pressed.. it wont stop booting and wont let me in BIOS. All it does it that if keys are pressed it will start beeping but then boot anyway.
I want to boot it from USB and install WIndows 8.1 64 bit.
I just installed two new memory modules (4 GB each) but my laptop only recognizes one of them. I've tried researching how to change the RAM voltage in BIOS to see if that will allow the laptop to recognize both memory modules but can't find out how to do so.
How to change the RAM voltage in BIOS (specifically from 1.5V to 1.6V).
Computer = HP Probook 4510S Operating system Windows 7 professional 32bit
I press esc with startup and then F10 to change bios setting. It only allows me to change date and time setting or restore default settings. I need to enable hardware virtualization to be able to run XP mode....
Acer Aspire V3 731 intermittent display shut down, causing me to do a hard shut down. Display comes back on reboot.
I have run memory and gpu tests showing good results.
Thinking I need to change allocated share of RAM in BIOS up from 128. Cannot access that field. Cannot find internet solution to get to that field. Thinking perhaps setting it to 256 or 512. Do not game on this computer. Do not do heavy post processing of images. Do multi task.
Is this intermittent shutdown of the display a known issue?
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5920G and am delighted with my purchase.
The laptop is presently working well (touch wood !) but in case of future computer catastrophe I used the eRecovery facility to create a full back up and also create recovery DVDs.
Being a "belt and braces" person I have also bought, downloaded and installed a copy of Acronis True Image Home 11 which I saw recommended in a computer magazine.
As part of the Acronis process, I created a rescue dvd using its standard tool.
I am now required to check that this rescue DVD boots correctly.
This involves entering the 5920G's BIOS and temporarily amending the boot order.
I understand I can do this by tapping the F2 key repeatedly before Windows starts. Is this correct?
Is there any kind of password required to enter and/or amend the BIOS ?
Are there any risks in this process, what are they and how can they be avoided/minimised ?
I am trying to use the Lenovo Diagnostics Bootable USB. I have to get my BIOS to boot from the USB before my SSD.
In the BIOS, the Startup > Boot menu already looks like the USB is listed first. But when I do a hard boot, Windows still boots from my SSD.
Here is the startup order listed in the BIOS: 1: USB FDD: 2: ATAPI CD0: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N-(TS) 3: USB CD: 4: ATA HDD0: SAMSUNG MMCQE28G8MUP-OVA-(S1) 5: +USB HDD 6: ATA HDD1:
See, the USB is listed first.
Why doesn't my system boot to the USB? What do those symbols in the boot order mean? For example, why are there three USBs?
I just flashed BIOS on my thinkpad yoga 20CD00B1US. I got the lates BIOS 1.18/1,09 and sice this flash, I cannot make any changes in BIOS. I can list in BIOS but cannot highlite and change any setting expect quick boot Enabled/Disabled
My even manager is reporting me this warrining: : The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS.
I do have set up supervisor password for BIOS, password on power on. When going in BIOS, I am not asked to put password in, which could be the issue.
I forgot the bios password and i need to enter to the bios menu to change some configurations.my laptop is an HP Pavilion dv4 4172lathe OS is windows 7 64the code appeared is: 62023458. How can i reset the password?
I have HP 2000-412NR and I removed my bios power on administrator password by typing my old password and in the new password field, I put empty (did not type anything), and saved it. After power on it still ask me the administrator password, and now no matter what I typed, I always got incorrect password, disable code 52559062.
I have a pavilion touchsmart 15 - n263sa, my problem is that id like to change the bios settings but they are all disabled apart from date and time, I cant access the options I want to.
I just upgraded to 4gb RAM on my 1521 from 2gb. After I installed it I checkethe <Properties> on XP to see if all the RAM was showing up, 3.37gb showed up. But I noticed the processor speed was down to only 795mhz, so I checked it with CPU-Z again and that read 795mhz as well.
I went into BIOS and turned off the AMD PowerNow option and it bumped it back to 1.9ghz. I ran CPU-Z again and it was at like 1.895.2ghz, but i noticed the bus speed was down to 199.5 mhz. Shouldn't that be like 333 or something? I've attached some screenshots from CPU-Z after turning off AMD PowerNow, with PowerNow all cpu specs are much lower.
I would like to upgrade but I can't find information about my motherboard ANYWHERE. It's not listed on the dell system specs website, either.
So, my question comes down to which would be better: PC-5300 (667Mhz) ram with 4-4-4-12 timing or PC-6400 ram (800Mhz) with 5-5-5-18 timing?
What is the maximum speed of memory that the e1505 can use? If it's 667 Mhz, I'm of course going to go for the ram with faster timing, but if it's 800 Mhz then I'll go for the speed. I'm using a 2.0 GHz core 2 if it matters, and all I could find it bios is that it's a mm061 "system
I have a 1520, 2Ghz Duo, 2.5 Gb Ram, running XP.....I also have a Line6 Guitarport USB audio interface. When I use this the audio often drops out a lot, especially when acessing the hard drive - what can I do about this? -
it's a 5400RPM drive - will upgrading to a 7200RPM improve things? It seems something is effecting the USB data stream.
The hard drive I have is a WDC WD1200BEVS-75UST 120GB
Also, is the drive running in SATA mode - when using HD tune it says: Standard: ATA/ATAPI-8 - SATA I
I've downgraded my Inspiron 1420 recently to XP SP3 with all the device drivers properly installed. Everything seems works fine except that I found fan1 & fan2 always on at max. high speed (very noisy) and CPU always max. at 1.5GHz (seems lost SpeedStep control, checked enabled in BIOS, with SpeedStep control cpu speed should drop to lower rate while the notebook is idle), the fans and cpu speed status are checked via the utility program I8KFANGUI.
If I enabled automatically temperature control in I8KFANGUI then fan1 can turn off as cpu cool down to below 55c and only turn on at Low speed at 60c (still very quiet, noise no noticeable) but still fan2 is always high at 4XX RPM constant rate, I8KFANGUI in fact reported fan2 is not controllable even for just turn on and off .....
i really want to get rid of this stupid annoying speed-step technology. there is an option in bios that will allow me to turn it off, but it will put the processor at 1.2 Ghz, i want it at its fullest at 2.00 Ghz,
I have two apparently identical Inspiron 8500's. Intel Pentium 4-Mrated @ 2.4 Ghz.
One runs at 2.4 Ghz as shown in system properties, CPU-Z and other utilities.
The other runs at only 1.196 Ghz max, shows 1.196 Ghz in BIOS. Bios version A08 apparently the latest offered.
I've tried swapping batteries, power supplies and cooling fans. The fans and grills are clean, and the BIOS proves this isn't an issue of temperature or something that changes after bootup. I've installed speed switch XP, which also shows 1.196Ghz and nothing can be set in that program that changes it either.
I've downloaded the "Speedstep" software update from Dell ... no solutions there. It doesn't step down or up, just runs at max of 1.196 Ghz, which is of course noticeably slower than its twin.
I just bought an inspiron 17 r se, specs say memory at 1600 mhz. however when i ran speecy the memory only shows a speed of 798 mhz... what gives here ??
I have a problem changing my BIOS settings after installing win8.1 and enabling bitlocker. I wanted to reformat the partition it was on, so I wiped it with gparted and now all settings in bios are greyed out and I cannot change anything. What can I do to be able to edit my BIOS?
I also have linux installed on my computer if I could do anything from there.
i have encountered another bug aside from gpu boost issue, which is currently still unresolved. Fan speed control is not going idle on 7720 SE, even when temps are very low (below 40c)... on A12 BIOS, I have to restart my laptop to be able to switch to FAN Idle speed again. These are temps iam having and fans are still on.
I need to know if I can change the color an Inspiron 6400 (gray to black), using the plastic pieces of a vostro 1000 (black). I think they are the same.
If is possible, i need to know if I just need these parts: - Dell Vostro 1000 Palmrest and Touchpad DX354 (BLACK) - Dell Vostro 1000 15.4" LCD Front Bezel Trim PM606 (BLACK) - Dell Vostro 1000 15.4" LCD Back Cover KT786 (BLACK) - Dell Vostro 1000 Power Button Hinge Cover HX873 (BLACK)
