 I have Laptop " DELL Inspiron N5110", I am facing issue, it does not power up. I have to discharge its Static Charge while removing its Power Battery and Pressing its Power Button for 10 to 20 Seconds then Plug in Power Battery and turn Laptop ON.
I have sent this laptop to workshop for a permanent solution but could not find solution.
My Inspiron used to hold a charge and last for about 7 hours. Now, at full charge it only lasts an hour or so. Is this normal? Will a replacement battery get me back to the original battery life time?

A few days ago I opened my laptop for cleaning using service manual and after carefully putting it back together the display wouldn't turn on.
Using external monitor I ran diagnostics and everything was fine. I double checked cables and such but it didn't work.
I woke up this morning and tried to turn en my laptop but nothing happened, I checked the AC adapter and it was working well, same as the batery, since I was using it last night with no problems. After a bit of research I managed to do an electrostatic discharge unplugging everything attached to my laptop, removing the AC adapter and the battery, and pressing the power button for about a minute, past that minute I plugged the AC adapter and pressed the power button, it turned on for about a second, it was pretty much a blink. Then everything was the same. I tried discharging again, several times, without success.

Last week, there has been some power fluctuations and immediately the infamous message saying "AC power adapter cannot be determined" appeared, and the system is very slow right now even when the battery isn't inserted.
I tried uninstalling & reinstalling the "Microsoft ACPI Complaint Control Method Battery" and it did't work either.
What is strange is that one minute I can charge the battery with the same AC adapter & the system operates just fine, the next this infuriating message appears & hell breaks loose.
I have received numerous shocks from my Inspiron N4110 when handling the case. Shocks come from sides and from underside of case--usually when reaching out to put the computer down after having it on my lap. This has happened when operating while plugged in (do not recall if it has happened also when operating on battery). On two occasions, it was sufficient to kil the screen and turn it into horizontal static lines. (See photo below.) No loss of data, and was able to power up again immediately. This unit is some 15 months old. What is causing this? Room is carpeted and air may be a bit dry, but this seems too strong a jolt to be static electricity.

Every time I just close my laptop (to put it in sleep mode, essentially) and then open it back up... it wont turn on. The power bottom stays completely lit up (not blinking, like it would in sleep/hibernation mode) but no matter what I press, it wont turn on. I end up having to completely shut it down every time. i did update for BOIS and VGA nothing happen

I have a working 90W dell adapter from my friend and i tried it to my laptop. It also gives the same error as above except my laptop identifies it as a 90w adapter and asks for a 130W adapter instead(When my adapter is plugged-in it doesn't even identify it as 130W as you can see from the image).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI received my Inspiron 7537 1080 3 weeks ago. Everything works perfectly except the static noise after connecting headphones. Tried different headphones,latest drivers nothing worked. Dell has sent an engineer to look at the problem. He replaced entire motherboard but the noise is still there. I tried Bluetooth headphones and external sound card but this hissing noise is always there in the background. I am thinking about getting another one after refund but not sure if this static noise is present in all models or was this only one off.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOur Acer Aspire One 725-0845 will not charge. It is plugged in with the power cord, but the charging light does not blink and the amount of power left in the battery is dropping. I'm thinking it is:
1. a faulty power cord (Model R33030) or
2. a faulty battery

But do not know how to determine for sure, or if there may be a different issue. I have tried plugging into different wall sockets and playing around with the plug attachment to the computer, to no avail.
The computer is in dead state the next morning after I switched its Windows power plan to high performance. In order to unlock power plan options, I disabled connected standby via a registry key in HKLMSystemControlSet001ControlPowerCsEnabled to 0.

After investigating, I read that this computer doesn't support normal hibernate wake-up process other than connected standby. I select shut down option in the menu (hibernate option disappeared). It's possible that shut down option in the menu was actually set to sleep/hibernate in power settings by default.

The LED power indicator doesn't light on when power supply is connected on either DC or microUsb.

I came across this Electric Purple in late February 2009, whilst on projects in Hamburg, Germany. I was intrigued by the colour setting, influenced by the passion of my fiancée -thus a must-have present for her cancer fight. A call to a friend in UK led to a surprise learning that it was no so readily available, due to its "colour", and since I needed a UK keyboard (the lady still has issue with the weird German letters ), a wait of 3 weeks was in order to chase down the unit..............
 My battery has not held more than about a 45-second charge since 2009; however, the AC adaptor seems to work fine, and the Power Management icon always tells me that I have a full (i.e., about 45-second) charge and that the AC adaptor is plugged in.  Today, just after I disabled the Acer Tour Reminder, CyberLink PlayMovie, and Microsoft Office OneNote (because I never use them and I wanted a faster startup), I moved some program icons that I didn't need or that were already on my Quick Launch tool bar into the Recycle Bin.  Suddenly, the notebook make sort of an electronic squeaking sound and immediately shut down--black screen; no lights. Â

I unplugged it, checked to ensure the battery was properly seated, felt to make sure it did not feel hot anywhere, plugged it in, saw that the lights were showing on the adaptor and on the front left edge of the notebook, turned it on, and selected normal start; it started up again.  It ran for at least three minutes (which, because of the battery, it would not unless the AC adaptor was functioning) and then, after I moved a few more icons to the Recycle Bin, it suddenly shut down again in the same manner. I started it again and it has now been running long enough for me to look up my Acer Forum registration information and update it after resetting my password. Â I am writing this on another notebook. Â The Acer is still running, but I want to ensure it doesn't shut down on me when I am in the middle of a project.
it's that friggin electric sound when you adjust your screen's brightness. Not that the sound is loud or anything but it's so annoying. Even clean install of mac os didn't help.
And it's not the hard drive that's making the noise. It seems to be coming from top left corner. Blackbook is half a year old and it started to emit that friggin noise a month ago. So did anyone had the same or having the same problem and did anyone removed this god dammed irritating sound !
I'm having some problems with my charger. When I plug it in and turn the laptop on it says that it couldn't recognize the charger and won't charge, the laptop itself works, however. Sometimes it does charge, but rarely. I'm in a little hurry and didn't search thru the forum. Apologize if this issue was answered before.

I used it to show a video to my mom then closed the lid (I programmed it so that closing the lid will lead to hibernation). When I tried to open it again after a few hours, it won't turn on. Even though I know it wasn't low in battery, I Â charged it. I then noticed that the light that was supposed to indicate that it was charging was not turned on. This incident happened a few months back but resolved itself after I let my laptop rest for 2 days.Â
So I have a 3 year old Dell Inspiron 1520, the battery recently went dead. Cant charge and cannot hold a charge. Runs fine with the ac adaptor plugged in without moving it.
However I can not play games on it that I have been able to play before. Is this because I am running solely on the ac adaptor?
i have a compaq presario c500 i have a problem that it wont charge and it wont run without the battery ...i know its not the charger and not the battery at fault as i have two of the same laptops and tried both parts from the other laptop with no sucess . is it more likely to be the motherboard or the actual mains plug on the laptop ....when i plug the adapter into the laptop it shows a charge light on front and the battery icon on screen shows as charging but it still dies the only way to get round it is it to charge it in my girlfriends laptop then put the battery back in mine ...is there any setting in the bios that would change how its charged
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy initial thoughts were that I had a battery issue the Ion battery. So I went to dell and purchased a new battery 2 weeks ago. Plugged that guy in and my theory was a bust.
Next, I turned to the ac adapter and decided it must be the problem. Back to dell to drop some more $$$ - just arrived and...well, let's just say I wouldn't be writing to this post if that solved my problem. I have surfed through various other posting will no avail.
The laptop can run fine on just the ac power - just no juice is getting to the battery to recharge it. I went into the BIOS set-up and it stated that it did not recognize the ac adapter -
can't figure why that may be the case, but none of the less I've got nothing but Dell products here - no knock-offs. Any suggestions or theories? I just can't believe I could have a bad motherboard here - the laptop works great otherwise.
I replaced the battery on my laptop when the battery symbol changed to a x next to it. From what I understand it means the battery needs replacing. I had to get a generic battery which was for a 1525.
It charged for awhile, then stopped. When I turn on the laptop I get a message "The ac Adapter and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. And so on.
The AC Adapter I use is a Tarus 95watt, which I used before on the original battery.
Should I replace the battery or is there another possible problem, Is there a diagnostic test for the battery system?
My problem is that my daughters 1525 says it is plugged in but not charging. I have tried various Dell and Universal chargers with no change. I have also replaced the battery and the only noticeabl change is that with the new battery by blinking amber lights have stopped. I assume that means the battery was bad. But I still have the issue with it saying it is plugged in but not charging.
