I mentioned in the subject my laptop won't start. I checked forums here and tried the offered solutions but nothing. My AC works fine, green light turns on when I plug it, and stays the same when I plug it to laptop. Laptop doesn't make any sounds...my led for battery on laptop doesn't work when I plug it on AC.

While the charging problem is fixed, whenever I plug my computer in with this adapter, the mouse becomes erratic. I can do basic navigation, then the cursor flips out and flies over what I'm about to click, so aiming for anything is like running on ice. I read a few things online as to what this is, and wound up updating my mouse driver and BIOS, even "releasing flea power" (Either I did it wrong or it didn't work) This has done nothing for this problem. I don't want to have to replace this computer. This is a Dell Inspiron N5110
my laptop is dell n5110 i5.when i push the button to turn on the laptop nothing happens! i checked the charger and the battery in an another laptop and there was no issue with them but when i plug the charger to my laptop the green light on the charger turns off immediately and the same thing happens with other charger! it must be a short circuit! i tried to remove the battery and the charger and to hold the button for 10 sec like described in a video i found in dell support but the problem persists! is it a problem with the dc card on my mother board?

If I turn the laptop off by going: Start, turn off, the display turns off but I can hear the fans still running. The only to turn it off is to hold down the power button.
Also if I shut my laptop lid the screen turns off but once again the fans are still running(doesn't go into to sleep mode). If I then re-open my laptop the display doesn't turn back on I have to hold the power button and then turn it back on.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got an inspiron 11 on Friday. I started noticing that sometimes the touchscreen wouldn't work correctly. Sometimes It takes a few taps to register a touch, other times it just quits working for a few seconds. This makes it hard to do anything, and makes it completely impossible to play any touchscreen games.
After a couple days, I finally figured out that It was on battery power that I had the problems. When plugged in the touchscreen works perfectly.
I have downloaded all the dell upgrades, and windows upgrades. I've also tried to turn off all the battery saving options I could find. Under power options advanced screen I changed every option to the same for plugged in and on battery. I turned off the option for dells power saving features. In device manager I took away windows ability to put usb hub asleep. There Is probably more I'm forgetting. Basically everywhere I seen a difference between battery and plugged in, i changed.
It passes all the hardware checks, both through dell software, and on the bootup hardware check.
I use this in tablet mode 90% of the time. And returning it to laptop mode to use touchpad/keyboard just isn't acceptable
Just got my first laptop, and my wife likes using it on battery in her favorite chair whereas I prefer to sit it on the coffee table plugged into the outlet. So we end up charging it up when I use it, and only draining it to between 90 and 50% or so when she uses it. Is this okay to do, should I fully drain it once a month or so, am I being too paranoid about taking care of it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some problems with a new Dell laptop (bought a few weeks ago). The model is Dell 15.6'' Inspiron 3542. I've searched on google and on other forums but i didn't found something useful for my problem.
The problem is that when i turn on the laptop, running only on battery, after starting the windows, it freezes. If i turn on the laptop, with the AC adaptor plugged in, it works perfectly. But if i remove the AC adaptor, the laptop freezes after a while. If i turn off the laptop without the AC adaptor plugged in, the screen goes black but the laptop dosen't shut down completly, it freezes. And every time it freezes, the only way to shut down the laptop is to press for 5 sec the start button. I can use the laptop on battery mode, only on "Safe Mode" option of Windows.
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits, and i installed all the drivers from Dell support site.
I have a very confusing issue with my Dell Inspiron N5110 Core i5 laptop. Sometimes when I try to switch it on, it doesn't do anything at all. I tried to talk the battery and the AC adapter out, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, put the battery and the AC adapter back in but nothing at all happens. No lights are showing up at all on it even when i'm having the AC adapter however i am sure that the adapter is fine.
What confuses me that when i leave it for a day or two and try again, it just works fine. It is about 7 months old and it came up with Windows 7 home edition on it.

I've tried changing it to shutdown when the lid closes, but it doesn't even shutdown. I can still see the power light on when the lid is closed and I can still here my computer running. Everything was working fine, then it stopped working a couple of days ago.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running windows 7 64bit, I got a new RGBLED screen as a replacement mid last week. Now I just realized that when I close the lid the screen isn't turning off. I've went through all of the power options and set it to "Do nothing" when closing the lid and that, for every single laptop I've owned has made the screen to shut off when closed. If I let it idle it'll dim and then shut down like it normally would during windows use. Is there a quickfix or some sort of driver needed?
Also grabbed a 9cell battery from a parts sort locally, couldn't believe they had a 9cell for $30! This thing looks brand new, but I'm suspicious that it might be some chinese fake, how can I determine if it's real? It only have 1.0% of wear on it according to HWiNFO32.
I have an dell n5110 laptop. My charger broke, bought a new one. But now my computer wont fire up. No lights, no sound, 100% dead. I tried to take the battery out and unplug the power, held power button for about 30 seconds, recconnected battery and power cord with no results. its still 100% dead cant get it to start up.

I have had the HP 620 laptop for about a year now , Recently upgraded it to windows 8 . After a bit of research I managed to do an electrostatic discharge unplugging everything attached to my laptop, removing the AC adapter and the battery, and pressing the power button for about a minute, past that minute I plugged the AC adapter and pressed the power button, it turned on for about a second, it was pretty much a blink. Then everything was the same. I tried discharging again, several times, without success.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy friend's macbook (white plastic, 2.0, napa/core2 before santa rosa platform) isn't starting, and I have no idea why. He initially asked me to replace the top and bottom casing. I accepted, and ordered the parts. Around the time they were supposed to come, I took the computer apart completely (required for the repair), but one of the parts was delayed, so the computer sat splayed on my desk for a week. I didn't exactly stack textbooks on it, but it also wasn't covered in anti-static wrap. So, now, I finally got the part and put it back together, and the computer doesn't start. At all. The screen doesn't go grey, the 'sleep' light doesn't turn on, the fan doesn't start - nothing. The magsafe light is green, so the power is going in. It's also worth noting that I have no battery for it, so it's all on A/C.
Does anyone know what's wrong? My two hypothetical solutions are (a) I need a battery, or (b) the logic board is dead due to static.
How likely are each of these scenarios - especially the logic board one? How possible is it that it was static overloaded?
Inspiron 1525 - Battery will not charge with plug connected. Upgraded to current version Bios with no change in error.. Upgraded from 65W to 90W adaptor with no change in error. Swapped known good battery that had 55% power left and it would not re-charge. Put "suspect" battery that had 0% charged into another machine and it is now charging. My laptop will work on cord power and will work on battery as long as I charge it elsewhere. I suspect that something is wrong with the laptop power interface and it is not allowing the power to transfer to the battery charging function. Is this a software issue (I thought the BIOS upgrade might fix this) or a hardware failure. If it is a hardware failure, can I fix it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't turn off my laptop. Widnows shuts down, the hard drive LED doesn't blink, just the power LED and I can hear the fan from time to time and it just hangs there. So, all I can do is hold the power button and force it to shut down. Even more weird is the fact that I can restart the computer. This started about a month ago and I've tried everything I could think of... to no avail.Here's my system info:

Here's what I did:
1) I suspected a Windows update, so I tried to restore to a previous point.
2) Didn't want to reinstall Windows, so I tried to boot from the Windows CD and shut it down from there.
3) I tried to let it hang after the shutdown. This brought up a BSOD two times. It was DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.
4) Then I started suspecting the BIOS. Updated to A13 (the latest version for my model)
5) Resetting the BIOS to default settings.
6) Updated all drivers to the latest.
7) Restored the MBR. (Windows repair said that it couldn't find my Windows installation, even though I was able to boot)
8) Tried to shut down without the battery.
9) Tried to shut down without the power adapter.
10) Ran all Dell support center tests. The short ones, though. No problems were found.
My laptop is still under warranty, so I won't open it, but I'd like to know that I have tried everything before I contact the support center.My job is on my laptop. I don't have a PC, so if I take it to support, I won't be able to work.
