View 5 RepliesThe diagnostic light coming from the Cap Locks button blinks a single time and continually repeats. HP support suggests that it is a failed CPU.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an inspiron 9400 that has been having some issues lately. As of right now, when I push the power button, the power light comes on but it does not boot or even post. The Num lock stays on and the caps lock and scroll lock lights blink for about 40 seconds then the whole thing shuts off. what those blinking lights mean. I have search dell support but have found nothing.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have several HP 8530p and I getting the num lock & cap lock leds blinking 5 times which indicates a general system board error. Bought new boards still getting the same issue. Note all the units will boot to windows fine, but there is a 10-15 sec delay in hard drive response when operating pc. The mouse is real time responsive but once you clink on a item the lag shows up. What to look for as the problem, CPU , Memory changed, Fans, Cooling system. Bios versions have been updated, I've torn the unit down, cleaned and added new thermal paste to CPU, GPU and added copper shims to promote better heat transfer. The system Diagnostics indicates hardware is ok.

1. I dissemble my laptop and remove unnecessary components and cable. I have tested and connected only with Motherboard , CPU and RAM.
2. I tried to replace with new RAM. But it can't solve problem.
3. I tried to remove Battery, only AC power can't solve problem.
4. I tried to replace new CMOS battery. But it can't.
I just purchased a refurbished Thinkpad Yoga, and all was great for a little while. Then I decided to shut it down and set it aside for a few minutes.
Current Status: System responds in no way other than the 'i' light (in the Thinkpad logo) blinking three times when the charger is connected, or the same when the reset button is pressed while the charger is still connected. Nothing else illicits any sort of beep, light, or otherwise.
I have a acer 1414 notebook, when i plug it in and try to get it to post the battery light blinks orange around 8 times, and then stops. i get no beeps, other other lights,.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop won't boot. I press the power button, the power button lights and I hear the system fan run. Then it shuts off and the caps lock LED flashed about 20 times, then turns off if under battery power. If on AC power then the LED stays steady after flashing. Screen never turns on. Late yesterday and late today the computer started hanging. Usually a restart would fix it for a short while. But now it's dead dead. I suspected overheating so I did a bit of digging and figured out how to remove and clean the fan intake. It's was clogged up pretty good, but that hasn't fixed the problem and the laptop is now cool to touch on the bottom..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavilion dv7-4065dx laptop with Windows 7 64 bit that will not boot up or go to the Bios screen. When the laptop is turned on, you hear the system fan start, power button light comes on, and the caps lock button starts to continually blink once every three to four seconds. The HDD activity light is also on but is solid red with no blinking. No changes have been made to the laptop and it was working perfectly fine just a few hours earlier. I have attempted the hard reset of the computer and reseating of the memory cards, but the laptop still would not boot.

My D600 will not boot up unless the power cord is plugged in. Is there some switch that I hit by mistake? Can this be corrected?
I guess basically it doesn't work on the battery unless it is plugged in but the power shows 100 % for the battery
I have been having trouble with my Dell Laptop recently. I have a dell inspiron 6400 and when i try to power it on it wont turn on. When I press the power button , the num lock and caps lock LED'S begin to flash for a few seconds before going off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe keyboard on my HP Pavilion g6 is locked. It was working and then my cat ran across the keyboard and must have hit a key that locked it. The mouse pad works. No cap lock or number lock on. I have already tryed:
1) going in control panel and unchecking everything in make keyboard easier to use.
2) Took the battery out for a few minutes.
3) have rebooted computer may times.

Most of the time the laptop will not boot up and I get the single blinking LED on Caps Lock and Num Loc. However, if I am persistent and keep trying the start button it will boot up. After it boots up every thing works fine. I can even do a restart and it will stop and boot back up. But if I do a shutdown then I will have to push the start button several times (it will come up with the single blinking LED on Caps Lock and Num Loc) before it will boot up again.
Recently, I turned on the on screen indicators for caps and num lock by accident when trying to get the pop-up window to stop opening every time I hit one of the buttons. Now I don't know how to disable it, and it's a pain while playing games.
Solutions tried:
Going to preference, there is no "On-Screen Display Tab"
Going to run the regedit.
what application gives the osd for the caps lock/num lock that normally shows at the bottom right of the screen, I have volume osd so it must be separate to that.
I wiped and re-installed my os yesterday.
The 5810T does not have an led for caps lock or num lock so the osd indicator is invaluable.
I am having some real issues with a Latitude E5420. It will sometimes boot no problem, maybe 40% of the time.
Most of the time it goes to the dell splash screen and the bar goes to the top then i get a blank screen. No blinking cursor or anything. No HD activity, no CD drive activity.
I can press F2 and get in to the bios, i can press F12 and get to the boot menu but even after selecting a boot option from the boot menu i will still get a blank screen most of the time.
Once the Laptop boots up it runs fine and doesn't report any errors. A memory test has shown no errors. I have replaces the CMOS battery, which was a bit of a nightmare, i have replaced/swapped the memory modules.
I have a g7 1113eo. that wont start up. the battery has been dead for a while, but its been working fine with just the adapter. But yesterday it wouldnt start up anymore, i tried doing the hardware reset (remove battery and hold power button for 15/30secs) but that didnt work, then i started disassembling it but stopped when I found out I didn't have a fitting screwdriver. then pressed the power button again just to check, and the pc started. was a fluke though cause i tried rebooting and it didnt start again. Whenever i press the power button, the small led next to the power plug, blinks 3 times. no sound or other led´s blinking. (The warranty is no longer valid)....

i need to know what is really causing that. i just doesn't respond to anything and some times the screen blinks.
The laptop is just over a year old, and does not power up at all. This started a couple of weeks ago. At first the LED light would blink orange a few times when the laptop was switched on, but nothing else happened. Then it might just start up, and while booting up the battery light would blink and it would switch off .
I did try removing the battery etc. to discharge of the mainboard as advised, but no difference. I have tried other sockets, same result. I have now left it unplugged for a few days and there is not even the orange light any more.
My envy 15 1060ea notebook recently turned itself off when i was 1-0 up against Real Madrid on Football Manager with Hearts (true!) and will not power back up.
I performed a hard reset, now when I press the power button the charging light next to the AC power input blinks 3 times (which according to HP customer support webpages indicates a problem with the RAM)...
SO...I opened her up and replaced both RAM modules with brand new ones, done another hard reset and IM STILL GETTING 3 BLINKING LIGHTS and no start u.
I have an Acer Aspire V3 551 8469. It is out of warranty. The indicator power light blinks 4 to 5 times and nothing happens after. I got adventurous and opened it up. I replaces the cord that receives the power coupling from the ac. Still not working. I was told it could be the motherboard but there is no guarantee that is the issue. If it is the mother board I will just have to get one and put it in.

The status light associated with caps lock on the XPS 15 does not show when active. The keyboard backlighting as a whole works.
I have uninstalled then reinstalled the Dell Quickset package but that has made no difference. Is there a setting I am missing?

When I turn my laptop on, the blue light on the power on button lights for 6 seconds, meanwhile the led near the power plug on right side rapidly blinks 13 times. Always exactly 13 times, so it must be some kind of error code. Then laptop shuts down. Nothing is heard, neither fan, neither hard disk.
I have Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop (2005), when i press the power button the screen stays blank, nothing happens and the caps lock light flashes a few times, then the entire system shuts off.

Recently, out of nowhere the computer is not powering up. I plug the power cable in (without the battery) and the caps lock key's light lights up but nothing else happens.
Once I place the battery into the laptop with the power cable, the third light on the front of the laptop (below the touchpad) lights up in this sequence and keeps repeating itself:
Amber/red
Amber/red
Amber/red
Amber/red
White
Then repeats from beginning.
I have tried the usual, power discharge by making sure all power sources are removed and holding down the power button for 60secs. Tried with known-working RAM and also with an external monitor - no luck.
There are no other POST notifications that I can see, no beeps etc. Just the lights on the front which only happens when the battery is plugged in with the power cord. I cannot find anywhere in the manual what the lights mean.
