I'm getting myself an Intel WiFi Link 5100 to replace the current Dell 1510N card in my Studio 1535. Is the Intel WiFi Link 5100 fully supported by my laptop?
Are the number of wires same for both cards? Any specific steps that I need to do when replacing the card? This is my first time doing this so I'm a bit nervous.
This has been happening a for a couple weeks now.
Problem:
Every time I boot up the computer and switch on the WiFi/Bluetooth button on the right side - only the Bluetooth light turns on above the keyboard.
Temporary Solution:
I go to Device Manager and find that the "Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN" slot has the exclamation sign next to it so I disable the card and then reenable it again, then the problem is gone (the WiFi light turns on and I can now finally see wireless networks in the "Connect" window) .....
I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit edition on my Vaio FW490 (upgraded from Vista 64). I received the free upgrade disks from Sony. When I checked my device manager I noticed that the driver version for the WiFi Link 5100 is 11.4.3.9 dated 5/28/09. On the Sony Site, they list the version for Windows 7 as 12.4.1.11 dated 10/8/2009, and when I checked on the Intel site, they are recommending driver version 13.0.0.107 dated 10/21/09.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a new HDX16. Been having issues with the intel 5100 agn. I've updated drivers to no effect. It would stay connected for awhile, but loose all connection at times. Its starting to be a pain. It can't even pickup my neighbors' connects and I have 10 in my area which my Toshiba picks up. Its paired to the Dlink DIR-855.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just recieved my Latitude E6400 today. I like the laptop, but the Intel Wifi Link 5300 AGN adapter continually drops my wireless connections to my home Linksys WRT54G access point and router. This is a version 5 Linksys unit running in mixed b/g mode with WEP encryption. It is running with a unique SSID which is not broadcast.
At first, my connections would drop and it seemed related to the Control Point software preinstalled on the E6400. So I uninstalled the Control Point System Management and Connection Management software, and this seemed to result in a small improvement: I can do a download successfully, but if I'm idle any amount of time the connection drops. This last makes me think power to the Wifi Link card might be getting turned off somewhere if there is no activity. However the Control Point Security Manager software is still installed (as it came from the factory) and might also be contributing to the problem.
I've used an 802.11n-compatible WiFi card in my home. The driver version for the WiFi Link is 12.0.0.82 and is dated 07/08/2008. The Linksys access point has been here a couple of years and is running Linksys firmware version v1.00.6. It is set up for 128-bit WEP encryption. I've had numerous laptops connect to it, all with older Broadcom b/g cards, and as long as the WEP encryption is set properly there has not been a connection problem. now to see if I can duplicate the connection dropping issue.
I want to replace my 1810T's Intel Wifi Link 5100 with an Intel Wifi Link 5300.
The 5100 has two antenna connectors and so the 1810T has two antennas already installed in it.
I purchased a third antenna, but I don't want to disassemble the screen to add the third antenna next to the two stock antennas.
Can I just place the third antenna here (empty area next to mini PCIe slot):
i have just purchased a new acer aspire 8730g-6353 and for some reason i cannot connect to the internet wirelessly. i can see the networks available and attempt to connect, but i'm never given the chance to input the WEP key to connect. it gives me an error telling me my troubleshooting options (which just alludes to it being a problem with signal or some garbage like that, but there is 100% signal strength at any given time).

View 7 Replies View RelatedAnyone, by chance, know the part number for the HDD bracket and plastic cap assembly for the M1330? This is bascially the assembly that goes around your HDD with the 'cap' on the end that mates up to the laptop case.
I've been looking on Dell's site for a bit (and ebay) and can't seem to find the part. I'd like to pick up a spare for my Win7 Drive I've been playing with, rather than swapping the HDD in and out of my existing frame.
Not talking WiMax service, which card is better for WiFi speed/range?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know what the part number for the Verizon 5720 card is for the 1340?.
I found this on Dell's website - verizon 5720..
But, the picture is for a sprint card so the P/N on screen is no help. I have been thinking about adding one from ebay or somewhere cheaper but want to make sure I get the right one...
Anyone get the Intel WiFi/WiMAX minicard working on 1640 or 1645? I installed the device into the "WWAN" minicard slot and installed the WiMAX connection software successfully, however the software says WiMAX not ready and doesn't work.
I've heard that this message can be related to whether there is proper USB support on the minicard slots, do either of these models have it? I'm testing this on a 1640 and will soon have a 1645
Problem resolved
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently upgraded to a Quadro 2500m in my 9400. Sometimes after playing games for awhile it will freeze up for a second and then get really slow (sometimes staircase like lines will appear on the monitor). I doubt the 2500m is broken since it came in a sealed Dell box and my temps aren't too high, so I'm suspecting that the 130W adapter that I got off of eBay is not really up to it. I noticed that sometimes when it boots up it cannot recognize the adapter (Press F1 to continue, F2 for setup etc...) but other times it recognizes it as the 130W adapter fine.
I also noticed that that PA-13 that I have was made in 2004...isn't that way before any of the Inspiron 9400s came out?
So I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get a reputable 130/150W adapter and/or what the part numbers are that people have been using successfully.
I followed a couple threads on here on how to format and reload everything from scratch. It has worked perfectly and I'm much more happier without the Dell bloatware. That said, the only issue (not sure if it's really an issue) that I'm having is with the WiMAX 6250 driver. I downloaded the latest drivers from here:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...18748&lang=eng
They aren't even listed on Dell's website (not that I would use Dell's over Intels anyway).
The wifi and everything seems to be working fine. However, when I look under device manager, it's the only one that has an "!" on it. It says that the driver isn't loaded.
Again, I don't know this is really a problem since it's working, but I just wanted to make sure this won't hurt me down the road or if anyone else knows how to fix it.
My fan recently died in my macbook (early 2008, probably a penryn right?) and i decided to replace it myself.
I ordered a fan that was stated it would fit all macbook's except the macbook with unibody.
It was shipped from the US and i live in Sweden so it took a while. I recieved it today and lo and behold, it does not fit.
I've opened up a dispute with the seller but i need to fix my laptop asap so i need to get another fan somewhere.
I will probably be buying from ebay since it's cheaper, but this time i want to be certain i get the right part.
I wanted to ask if i can identify what fan i want and don't just go by the description of the item (since that fooled me once)?............

View 3 Replies View Relatedif HP sells replacement parts for laptops directly to consumers. I'd like to buy a beats-edition keyboard for the HP Envy 15 and put it in the regular Envy 15.
The black keyboard and matte black finish would be better I think.
Anybody know if HP sells laptop parts? I didn't see anything on the official website.
I found the part number for the raid component in the Z-series. You just need two low-profile SSD, and you should be able to do RAID in the Z-series laptop without paying for RAID config from Sony.
Part number is A-1553-769-A
You can go here to purchase the part

You may be able to use this in the TT as well, but I'm not so sure about that.
Is it possible that I replace the Z11's stock Wifi with the Lenovo Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250? I may use upcoming Sprint 4G data service that required a WiMax card. I can order the Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 from Lenovo.

When I customize a Dell 15/17 or XPS 16, there are only options for Dell wifi cards. I believe these are Broadcom cards. I dual boot Linux distros and Broadcom cards are generally a headache for Linux users. I also don't like that Dell doesn't include the same Intel wifi card options as they do for their Latitude and Precision series .....
