Dec 25, 2009if HP sells replacement parts for laptops directly to consumers. I'd like to buy a beats-edition keyboard for the HP Envy 15 and put it in the regular Envy 15.
The black keyboard and matte black finish would be better I think.

May 21, 2009Anyone, by chance, know the part number for the HDD bracket and plastic cap assembly for the M1330? This is bascially the assembly that goes around your HDD with the 'cap' on the end that mates up to the laptop case.
I've been looking on Dell's site for a bit (and ebay) and can't seem to find the part. I'd like to pick up a spare for my Win7 Drive I've been playing with, rather than swapping the HDD in and out of my existing frame.

May 25, 2010My fan recently died in my macbook (early 2008, probably a penryn right?) and i decided to replace it myself.
I ordered a fan that was stated it would fit all macbook's except the macbook with unibody.
It was shipped from the US and i live in Sweden so it took a while. I recieved it today and lo and behold, it does not fit.
I've opened up a dispute with the seller but i need to fix my laptop asap so i need to get another fan somewhere.
I will probably be buying from ebay since it's cheaper, but this time i want to be certain i get the right part.
I wanted to ask if i can identify what fan i want and don't just go by the description of the item (since that fooled me once)?............

Nov 3, 2007I've recently upgraded to a Quadro 2500m in my 9400. Sometimes after playing games for awhile it will freeze up for a second and then get really slow (sometimes staircase like lines will appear on the monitor). I doubt the 2500m is broken since it came in a sealed Dell box and my temps aren't too high, so I'm suspecting that the 130W adapter that I got off of eBay is not really up to it. I noticed that sometimes when it boots up it cannot recognize the adapter (Press F1 to continue, F2 for setup etc...) but other times it recognizes it as the 130W adapter fine.
I also noticed that that PA-13 that I have was made in 2004...isn't that way before any of the Inspiron 9400s came out?
So I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get a reputable 130/150W adapter and/or what the part numbers are that people have been using successfully.

So I've had this problem for a while now and I cannot seem to get a fix for it. When I first bought my computer it was so fast. I would be able to run azerus, iTunes and Firefox with multiple tabs while watching HD videos on gametrailers with a perfectly good frame rate, and everything worked flawlessly.
However now I can hardly watch a video on youtube, the frame rate drops incredibly low and any video, unless is extremely low quality is hardly watchable. The fan is loud (which after reading a few threads found out was pretty common) and the laptop runs pretty hot. I've always ran Trend Micro AntiVirus (recommended from bestbuy) and even now there is no virus detected.
The real downer comes when I look at the task manager performance tab to try and figure out whats going on. I'll notice the processor speeds (on both) are very inconsistent and jump around. Also the physical memory never goes over 1.7gigs of usage. Even when the processor is running at 100% and I have multiple programs open it sort of peaks at 1.7 gigs. So right now I'm thinking that for some reason the laptop isn't accessing all of the available ram and is bottle necking the processor. HOWEVER, I ran Memory Test for 8 hour straight (overnight) and only then did the physical memory peak at 4gigs.

Apr 4, 2009I have a spare PCI-e slot in my dv2700 (originally for evdo card) and I was wondering if its possible to get a mini-pcie ssd (like from a dell mini) and boot from that.
I am aware there won't be much speed increase, perhaps even a decrease but might be nice to be able to just use the hdd as secondary.

May 11, 2009I have been reading the threads related to HP notebooks with defective nVidia GPUs and just out of curiosity, I checked the 8400M GS GPU in my roommate's HP dv2700 notebook, which normally runs @ 80 - 90 deg C, using GPU-z software. The sensor data matched the default core / memory clock for 8400M GS, when under stress. But I got confused when I saw that the shader tab is disabled .
I do not know if somebody else has already come across this situation. I searched here and could not find a similar reported problem, hence this thread. Am I missing something here or is there someone out there having the same problem. Can it be something related to an older ForceWare version (156.65)?

Mar 14, 2009How can I get the exact resolution of 1360x768 (720p) in my HP dv2700 using the HDMI cabel? I currently have the 179.48 drivers installed and I couldnt figure a way to get a 1360x768 !? I tried using customs resolution but it wont work, the TV (samsung) keeps giving me a 1920x1080 which is not the native resolution.
I also own a desktop with an Nvidia 8800gt graphics card and it recognizes the 1360x768 resolution immediately, I dont why this is happening since both the laptop and desktop use similar drivers?

Jul 30, 2009I was able to resurrect it several times. Don't know how but it would work for a while then crash again. The card was a 9600M GS DDR2 and the laptop model was an Acer Aspire 6930G. Judging by the picture below of my start up screen. Would you say it's directly related to the video card? The windows noise would play with that screen but recently, it doesn't even play the noise anymore.

Nov 8, 2009Occasionally the screen on my nx7010 will flicker and I can usually fix it by gently pressing the black plastic overlay bit on the bottom left hand side of the screen. I once removed this plastic and noticed the wire under there was pinched and unpinching it solved the problem for a while. The flickering is now getting worse and I'm assuming I have to change that wire but I don't know what it's called or where to look for it. Can anyone let me know what I should be buying?

Since then I've changed both the LCD cable and the inverter but flickering problem has not gone away. I'm now assuming it's the backlight but as I've heard the backlight is very difficult to change, I'm hoping to pick up a cheap screen somewhere.

How do I know if my computer is WUXGA, WSXGA+ or WXGA? Are these interchangeable?
Also, I've looked on eBay and have seen LCDs with part number 337008-001 listed but they don't mention compatibility with the NX7010. They do say they are compatible though with the X1000. Since it's the same part number can I assume that the X1000 and NX7010 use the same screen?
Lastly, I've also seen screens listed on eBay with the part number SAMSUNG (LTN154X1 - L02) and again, it says compatible with 337008-001. Is this LT part number now also an option for me?

Feb 26, 2010I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS93S laptop. It is about 4-5 years old. I bought it in Thailand so I think it is a Sony Asian region model.
I installed Windows 7 on it today without any problems. It runs fine, but I am having some driver problems as expected. Even though there are a couple of red lights in the Device Manager, all my hardware is working fine except for the wireless network card. I don’t mind the errors in the Device Manager as long as everything works somehow. But I also can’t get the function keys working on the laptop, which I would like to have working too.
I called Sony in Thailand and they said the laptop is too old so Sony won’t be supporting it with new drivers for Windows 7.
Are there any Windows 7 drivers from other Vaio models which might be compatible with my laptop?
