I use Hp dv2700 laptop (windows vista). My laptop display got split into 6 mini screens after I recover it. Please see the jpeg image: [URL] ..... I did try to update the Bios but it's not success.
View 9 RepliesI have a spare PCI-e slot in my dv2700 (originally for evdo card) and I was wondering if its possible to get a mini-pcie ssd (like from a dell mini) and boot from that.
I am aware there won't be much speed increase, perhaps even a decrease but might be nice to be able to just use the hdd as secondary.
I have a 28-month old HP DV2700 Special Edition (yes with the dreaded Nvidia Chip). It was working just fine until a week ago when i decided to clean the keyboard and all the keys. I had removed the battery so that laptop would not every time i touched the power button by mistake. After i was done cleaning i started up the laptop, the LCD powered up with a faint glow of the backlight, but no video. Normal HDD activity and laptop booted fine with sounds and everything. Tried booting several times with the same results. I also did that 45 sec holding power button trick, with no success. Based on the googling i did, i made a list of components the could fail and started ruling out one by one. Here is where i am at.
1. NVIDIA Chip soldering - Well i do get a display on the external monitor, shouldn't that be enough to rule this out? Still i opened up the laptop to get to the chip, pressed down a bit on it and nothing more.
2. Inverter & Backlight - Opened up the display assembly and could see the bright backlight. Even the screen brightness controls work and i can see the display go dark and bright, but no picture. From what i read the inverter has only to do with supplying the appropriate voltage to power the backlight and has nothing to do with the video feed.
3. Stuck display switch - Opened that up too, nothing stuck there. i can clearly see the screen going black once i press it and glow again when i release it.
4. LCD - Convinced that it was the LCD, got a replacement from eBay. Guess what? its same thing.
5. LCD flex cable - Don't really know how to test that.

My problem: about a month ago (maybe a little more) my machine automatically did an update, and after it was complete I was able to get to the sign in screen but once I was signed on I had nothing but a black screen and my cursor. I could not pull up the task manager or perform any functions. I was able to restore my machine to a previous date and used it again for about a week before the update ran again and the exact same thing happened. The second time around I did not have any restore points that were prior to the update so a system restore did absolutely no good. I booted in safe mode and tried to do a clean boot to see if something may have been preventing the update from completing properly but no luck.
I then tried a system recovery and it failed, I don't recall what it said about why it failed but now all it does when I start it up is makes me choose a Keyboard layout and then choose an option between "Continue; exit and continue to HP Recovery Manager" "Use a Device" "Use another Operating system" "troubleshoot" and "turn off your PC."
I have an HP Pavillion model 17-e019dx running Windows 8. Every time I turn it on, it stops at a blue screen that says
Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
A required device isn't connected or cannot be accessed
Error code 0xc000000f
When I press enter to "Try again" it come back with:
File:WindowsSystem32winload.efi above the error code listed above.
I have tried the Recovery and after MUCH time waiting, it still comes back to the above mentioned screen. I have also run all the diagnostics that are available on the laptop and everything come back normal. I don't have the original discs or documentation as I "received this laptop as a "gift/curse" . It is, however, registered to me.

I purchased a Pavilion g7 laptop in December 2012. The 1TB HDD that came with the laptop started to go bad on me. After several attempts to 'system self-repair' (which failed) I purchased a replacement Seagate SSHD 1TB HD. Since I did not have any Windows 8 recovery discs I contacted HP, paid for and had them sent to me.
So now I have a new SSHD, new W8 recovery discs and my laptop. I replaced the HD and started the recovery process per the paper instructions that came with the discs.
At 4% (in the 'Copying files required to restore the hard drive phase') I get an error message:

To: C:/RM/Image/BASE14.SWM
Press OK to retry.
Obviously since I'm posting about this simply pressing 'OK to retry' did not work. I powered the laptop down and restarted the recovery process. I got the same error message at the same point described above.
i'm trying to buy a blu ray drive for my DV2700. My model has the hd dvd player, but i know they came out with a blu ray drive for it as well.

What are the settings to allow the laptop screen to be closed and still be able to get video to an external display.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a HP HP - Split x2 Ultrabook - Model # 13-g110dx and I am pretty happy with the ultrabook. The ultrabook came installed with Windows 8 which I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and after that all Windows 8.1 updates were installed and the latest drivers from HP as well. However I have noticed that the touch stops responding after sometime and I have to restart the laptop to make it work again.
Another issue I've seen today is the touch pad stopped responding and I again had to restart.
I just recently bought this Hp split x2 for school purposes, but my husband wanted to play World of Warcraft in my laptop. usually the of the screen feels so hot after he played for atleast 3 hours. I don't want him to mess my laptop. sometimes his game freezes.

My hp pavilion touchsmart 14 sleekbook was acting funny so I decided it was time to reset it back to factory settings. I didn't realize it would take so long. I use my computer for work and I've got about 30 minutes before I have to leave. Is it safe to unplug the computer while in reset mode? The drive to work is ~40 minutes then it'll be put back on power.

I tried to get into bios pressing ESCAPE or F10 after restart but same nothingness. If I can't get my lappie working, I would at least like to get data off it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have seen it on two different laptops now. Both are HP ProBook 6460b. When the user plugs the laptop into a VGA cable that is connected to a projector, the laptop blue screens and reboots.
The laptop doesn't bluescreen and reboot when connected to monitors, but usually the users are using a docking station when connected to a monitor, or monitors. I haven't seen any issues with plugging in a VGA cable connected to a monitor, but that is rare.
I've tried updating drivers, but haven't had any luck.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an HP Pavillion X2 2in1 laptop and want to connect it to my TV. The laptop was recentluy upgraded to windows 8.1. When I connect using an HDMI cable, the TV recognises that the HDMI is connected, but the laptop screen will not transmit onto the tv screen. When I hit f4 to toggle the display, it says 'Your PC cannot project to another screen. Try reinstalling the driver or using another video card.'
When I go into control panel as recommended on other queries, the adjust resolution screen does not give me any other options than the Basic PnP display. It's like my laptop cannot detect my tv. It is not in my computer, devices or anything. I didn't attempt connecting it to my tv when it just had windows 8 on it ...

hp support page for my laptop showed a newer bios available,so i installed it and from then my laptop shows black screen i.e it switches on and keeps blinking capslock twice and 2 sec interval and repeats.i searched the internet and found that twice capslock signifies bios failure.so i thougth of following the win+B method,but the problem here is,when i extracted my bios package sp*****.exe i have 2 *.bin files and i dont know where to paste them on my pendrive.
