HP Split 13 X2 Recovery :: Cannot Perform System Recovery
Oct 1, 2014
Model:Â HP Slpit 13 x2 PC
Product: E8C34UA#ABA
Â
Operating system: Windows 8 64 bit
Â
It is still covered under warranty.
Â
My problem: about a month ago (maybe a little more) my machine automatically did an update, and after it was complete I was able to get to the sign in screen but once I was signed on I had nothing but a black screen and my cursor. I could not pull up the task manager or perform any functions. I was able to restore my machine to a previous date and used it again for about a week before the update ran again and the exact same thing happened. The second time around I did not have any restore points that were prior to the update so a system restore did absolutely no good. I booted in safe mode and tried to do a clean boot to see if something may have been preventing the update from completing properly but no luck.
Â
I then tried a system recovery and it failed, I don't recall what it said about why it failed but now all it does when I start it up is makes me choose a Keyboard layout and then choose an option between "Continue; exit and continue to HP Recovery Manager" "Use a Device" "Use another Operating system" "troubleshoot" and "turn off your PC."
I just purchased a new Pavilion m7-1015dx Laptop and need to make the System Recovery Discs ... (which I realize restores the Laptop to factory default).. btw, I've already created the System Repair Disc.  However, I read an article about creating a System Backup Image that allows you to Recovery EVERYTHING if lost, all your installed programs, etc.  First Question ::: if I do the System Backup IMAGE ... Do I still need to create the System Recovery disc's (mfg's default) also??  The Second Question ::: If I create the System Recovery discs do I still need that Recovery Partition ??  I am really really wanting to partition my C: drive ... it's huge plus I hate seeing storage folders intermingled with system folders .. Currently using a Symbol/Character to separate them.  As of now, I can't partition the C:drive as all partitions are used.. max is 4 and I've got 4 .... C:drive,  System Partition,  HPTools Partition, and  Recovery Partition.
If needed be in the future, could IÂ use a recovery flash drive created on Pavilion 15 Windows 8.1 64 bits for recovery on a second computer with same operating system (Pavilion 17 Windows 8.1 64 bits). I just want to avoid having to buy a second expensive usb key, I paid 75 euros for the first one.
I recently bought a used dv7-4183cl off Craigslist. It is running Win 7 home premium. It had boot, display problems. I ordered the recovery cd/dvd to restore it to factory settings. after a 6-7hr loading it comes up with Recovery Mgr say's recovery attempt failed and will not let me get past it. I did hard reset, system diag on mem and hard drive(start-up, run-in, safe mode, every test available with diagnostics!) Saved Error log:
I use Hp dv2700 laptop (windows vista). My laptop display got split into 6 mini screens after I recover it. Please see the jpeg image: [URL] ..... I did try to update the Bios but it's not success.
Came to a point when I should completely restore the OS on my Acer Aspire 4752. Neither through Alt+F10 nor through eRecovery am I able to get around a Notice with the following "please complete operating system setup process before doing system recovery". There is only one option of this notice, that is to ok it and then the current Windows 7 Home Premium OS starts and I am not able to get out of this viscous circle. The OS works and is completely set up, so I do not understand what am I prompted to do. I see a number of postings out there, but no solution. Local Acer does not seem to know anything about the problem nor it's existence.
After rebooting my system I now come to a screen to enter system password. Only thing is.. I never set this and there is no way around it.I have tried the take battery out reset CMOS trick that used to work in desktops to no avail. Â This is the message I get after too many password attempts. Â system disable key 92931076
When I boot up my laptop, I hit F11 to start the recovery, it says at the bottom, Starting Recovery, but then it just boots right into windows. There is still a recovery partition on my harddrive but why isn't it letting me boot it?
There's a problem with my dvd rom (DVD-RW ROM reads CD/DVD but can't read DVD-R) and so i am trying to do a system recovery. however, as i have already done a clean install before, the HP recovery manager is gone (even though my recovery partition is still intact). and i can't use my recovery discs as there's a problem with my dvd rom. what other way can i use to do a system recovery?

Need to recover your Dell, but don’t know where to start? Just Curious? Look no further, as this guide will walk you through the system recovery process. Whether you use XP, Vista, or 7, you’ll be back up and running in no time.
I’ll go over the pro’s and con’s of each recovery method, so you can make an informed decision. Unlike some other computer makers, the recovery method’s Dell has offered has changed over time, hence the need for this guide .....
My laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-FS115B. When I bought it 4 years ago the operating system was all in German until yesterday when I decided to change it into English. A friend installed me XP Professional, 2002, Pack 3 which naturally resulted to the cancellation of the entire Vaio system (VAIO Zone, VAIO Update etc..), now not being able anymore to control the volume, light from my keyboard etc..My question is: I there a way to recover this Vaio System without having to do the complete recovery which will only take me back to the German operating system.
I tried performing a system recovery on my laptop. After it was finished, I received an error stating "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error.
Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation." Then, after restarting, the computer begins to boot, but brings me to a screen "/noexecute=optin" "edit boot options for microsoft windows vista. Path: windowssystem32winload.exe". Alt+F10 then brings me to a Change boot device screen, giving me the option between my hard drive and CD/DVD ROM drive. My laptop is not under warranty any more, and I do not have recovery discs, nor can I afford them. What can I do to either boot my laptop, or properly recover it?
My Compaq Presario CQ61-110SA kept on crashing wiht the blue screen error so yesterday i had some time on my hands so i thought I would do a full system recovery in order to stop this nuisence from happening, however I wish I had read the problems associated with the HP recovery manager first as now I have no OS and a recovery manager that dosn't work.
At the moment I am using the recovry manger pre installed on the hard drive however it gets to installing the drivers, and after about an hour a pop up comes up for about half a second saying a about a driver install or dont install (it looks similair to th etype of pop up on vista when a new program wants to run) however due to it poping up so quickly and then going I cannot see what the actual driver is let alone choose an option, after this it says recovery has failed the error code c:system.savlogsBurnBootwarn.log it states the error was detected during PINIST_BBV , when i opened the log file it seemed all the drivers had succeded but [mini_FBI] resilt failed, I have tried doing the recovery with the wireless button on as I heard this could be the cause but still it didn't work, I have recovery discs that i burned however My laptop wont seem to boot fom disk even though I have changed the BIOS and put harddrive at the bottom and the disc at the top.
I'm currently using an HP Pavilion dv5-1140 (the white/lime green special edition). It shipped with Vista Home Premium.
I've recently installed Windows 7 to have a quick look at 'what's next', planning on using HP's System Recovery partition (triggered by pressing F11 at startup) to reimage later.
I've been trying to trigger the System Recovery tool at startup (with F11), but it's no longer working properly - the computer 'thinks' for a second and then starts booting into Windows 7.
I'm afraid after using tens of Pavilions in the past two years (I'm a journo), I've got into the lazy habit of using this recovery partition to reimage, not burnt DVDs.
Is there anyway I can get the computer to load the HP Recovery tool now? I'm not looking to recover data - just reimage with Vista HP.
My laptop won't connect to nett both cable/ wifi, tried with all the drivers here in ACER, nothing..tried with a restored point, but wont get an old one, old enough, want to try a system recovery, already saved all the info, is an old pc, but still want to fix it!
I have created a set of "System Recovery" (Reinstall Disk) DVD's for my inspiron 15 7000 laptop.I removed the traditional Sata HD from the laptop and installed Samsung Evo 840 SSD. Connected an external DVD drive and booted using the System Recovery Disk 1.
The files started loading but after half were loaded gave error of something like 0x8xxxxxx and asked to reboot. The same error occurred after another reboot. The Recovery Disk are fine as i have verified them using dell backup software. Also is it possible to create Dell Recovery partition (O/S and drivers e.t.c) somehow on the new SSD if i install Windows 8 using the OEM disk straight away?
I'm trying to fix my neighbours computer, it's a Pavilion dm3 and somehow she managed to completly lock the system. When it boots it just asks for the administrator password and will not continue to boot, not even bios menu is available. Â I've read some other posts on this forum that the way to unlock it is to post the "halt code" given when 3 passwords have failed, in my case that code is:Â 51019908 Â Also, how does one even end up in this state, I've never seen this kind of lockdown before?
2 year old DV7 will not start up it just continually beeps, there are no stuck keys, everything has been unplugged, there is nothing connected. i've tried esc, F8 and F12 nothing happens....
A few days ago sony replaced mobo in my BZ model, because there was a problem with onboard GPU chip.
Now I am unable to do a system recovery with my discs that were made from the same laptop before sending it to repair. I also noticed BIOS was upgraded, but I doubt this is the case.
