My daughter has a HP split 13-m111sa x2 running Win8.1 64Bit.
Recently she has been unable to start the laptop up as it just hangs at the HP splash logo with the 'buffer circle' going around.
I was hoping to find how to do a hard reset on this model.
My daughter has a HP Split 13-m111sa x2 notebook/tablet. She got it in March of this yearand it is currently running Win 8.1 OS with updates applied.
The problem/symptoms are this: - The WiFi connection she uses both at home and school is dropping after about 5 mins after connection. It is happening with different WiFi connections both secure and open requiring login (eg BT WiFi hot spots).
Steps/action taken so far:-
Removed known networks and re-joined
Performed IPCONFIG /flush on device
Provided static IP address to WiFi at home, different to the one supplied by the router but in the same range.
My Split X2 occasionally locks on the blue HP logo during startup. Usually a hard restart will work with no other issues. A few times, including today, the hard restart does not work and it continues to lock on the logo screen. I hard restarted around ten times today before it finally fully booted.

Then, yesterday when I had to enter my password again, the computer began running very slowly and then seemed to lock-up; it wouldn't do anything. I held the "on button" until the computer shut down and then restarted it. When it restarted, it didn't get past the initial screen that shows "HP" within a blue circle and the small circle of small, white dots shows that it's working but nothing ever happens. I tried this numerous times, but the same thing happens.

I bought this Split x 2 a week ago and it came with WIndows 8. Everything was working fine until I upgraded to WIndows 8.1. Now my Touchpad will freeze some times and I have to log out and log back in to my profile to unfreeze the touchpad other times I can get it to unfreeze by resetting the release touch screen buttom.
I called HP customer service and they said it was a Microsoft issue and transfer me to them. Microsoft said it was a hardware (HP) Issue and that i needed to go back to the store where I bought it(BestBuy). I took it back yesterday to BestBuy and they gave me a knew one. I did the same thing and upgraded to Windows 8.1 and touchpad issues is back. So pretty sure is not a hardware issue.
All windows updates are completed. I checked the Touchpad's Driver and it is up to date.
NOTE: I plugged a wireless mouse to my laptop and when the touchpad freezes the wireless mouse still works.
Everything else works great on the laptop is just very inconvenient when you are working and you have to log out to get your touchpad to work again.
I bought this HP Split X2 about two months ago. When I am working on it, if I move and the screen moves ever so slightly back and forth, it will completely shut down. I have to adjust the screen to a angle where the power button will turn it on.

I have let HP Dealer for my country to check things out, they say the hardware is okay, but the only thing i did not let them use the harddrive, due to confidential data on it. But my problem is that it looses connectivity at random, sometimes after 45 minutes or after 4 hours. Sometimes the laptop freezes during usage of the laptop. I need to do a hard reset(holding the power button for 20 seconds).
I have started Windows without start up programs to no avail. does the same.
I'm using: McAfee antivirus, windows firewall, Toad 9.01, MS OFFICE, ssh programs, FTp programs.
Another colleague has the same laptop with the same operating system on it. with the same antivirus, and he does not have this problem.

My PC has been running very slow lately . It hangs , freezes , pages become unresponsive and hence, it takes lot of time to type . I have to use it daily for work so, I want to resolve this asap.

Problem: Computer hangs on :starting windows" screen for 3-4 minutes before proceeding to login screen. After that, it works normally.:
I tried doing a hard reset but it made no difference.
I ran system diagnostics and the DST failed with the following failure ID:

Normally, the "Starting Windows" screen would clear after a couple of seconds and the login screen would appear. Despite the DST failure, I seem to be able to access files in my C: Drive, access the Internet and operate the computer normally once the Login screen appears. I have also noted that the Login screen finally appears shortly after the WiFi light on the F12 key changes from orange to white.
The hard drive on my Aspire 5745 was replaced (same size 640 GB) when I install Windows, it hangs on the Windows logo as its swirling and about to start. I have checked in the BIOS to disable UEFI boot but unable to see this option.

When I turn it on it says F1 system information and automatically goes to the F1 screen where it displays the sys info. It says press ESC to exit but that does nothing. In fact, no keys do anything. I tried to get to other screens when booting but it won't let me do anything. The laptop is only a few months old and I still have the basic 1-year warranty. Yesterday i have received my new Laptop Inspiron N3542 with Ubuntu. I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and on OS installation completes, laptop reboots continiously on DELL logo.
Troubleshooting:
1. Performed a diagnostic test from BIOS under F12 - Passed all hardware test and no failure.
2. Tried with Windows home basic and Windows Professional 64 bit no luck.
3. In BIOS only option available is AHCI.
My HP TouchSmart tm2 with the product number of VL618AV won't turn on past the logo screen. I really don't understand why this is happening because it is just over a year old. I have Windows 7 and there are no error messages on the computer.

I have attempted to press F12 to try and load windows in safe mode but everything is frozen at this point.
