I bought this HP Split X2 about two months ago. When I am working on it, if I move and the screen moves ever so slightly back and forth, it will completely shut down. I have to adjust the screen to a angle where the power button will turn it on.

It was working fine today until I had to charge it. When it was fully charged, I turned it on and the screen just froze. I tried shutting it down by pressing the power button but it didn't work. Now, the screen's just black but the power button's lit up (meaning it's turned on). What do I do?

1. Pressed the power button to turn on the laptop
2.the fans run and the computer makes its usual whirring noises as it would normally do whilst booting up.
3.the screen however remains completely inactive. As if the laptop is off.
4. I turned it off and on again several times. Once it came on and worked as normal, I could access all files and backup everything.
5. This morning I turned it back on and it has done the same thing. Makes the sounds as normal but screen is inactive.
I have turned off and on again and connected an HDMI cable to an external screen but there is no signal.
Basically the Fn Button, Left, Right, Up, Down buttons are all working fine. I can adjust the volume of the notebook, but I can't however adjust the brightness of the screen. There is no brightness setting in my notebook whatsoever! Am I missing the brightness driver? what is the name of the brightness driver? Or is it something else. Taking into account that I have decrease/increase brightness symbols on the left/right buttons respectively.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my Lenovo Y40 on the Lenovo Web site a couple months ago and recently, to turn on, I have to press the power button twice. When I press just once, the Lenovo`s logo is displayed on the screen, but after 2 seconds everything turns off. On the second trying, finally the laptop turns on and the windows is started.
In addition, rarely the laptop stucks on the lenovo`s logo screen, being necessary to hold on the power to reset it.
I recently got an acer aspire e15 for xmas and I've started to have problems with it like when i turn it on and adjust the screen or simply pick it up to move it the screen will turn off like a standby but take ages coming back on and sometimes it will just simple restart the laptop....

But yesterday it wouldnt start up anymore, i tried doing the hardware reset (remove battery and hold power button for 15/30secs) but that didnt work, then i started disassembling it but stopped when I found out I didn't have a fitting screwdriver. then pressed the power button again just to check, and the pc started. was a fluke though cause i tried rebooting and it didnt start again. Whenever i press the power button, the small led next to the power plug, blinks 3 times. no sound or other led´s blinking. (The warranty is no longer valid)....

Upon pushing the power button, the power button itself lights up for a second at most and then cuts right off. During this time, the screen remains black and nothing else occurs. I've tried turning it on while plugged in and charging and tried turning it on after being charged an hour or so. Everything yields the same results.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought this Split x 2 a week ago and it came with WIndows 8. Everything was working fine until I upgraded to WIndows 8.1. Now my Touchpad will freeze some times and I have to log out and log back in to my profile to unfreeze the touchpad other times I can get it to unfreeze by resetting the release touch screen buttom.
I called HP customer service and they said it was a Microsoft issue and transfer me to them. Microsoft said it was a hardware (HP) Issue and that i needed to go back to the store where I bought it(BestBuy). I took it back yesterday to BestBuy and they gave me a knew one. I did the same thing and upgraded to Windows 8.1 and touchpad issues is back. So pretty sure is not a hardware issue.
All windows updates are completed. I checked the Touchpad's Driver and it is up to date.
NOTE: I plugged a wireless mouse to my laptop and when the touchpad freezes the wireless mouse still works.
Everything else works great on the laptop is just very inconvenient when you are working and you have to log out to get your touchpad to work again.
My daughter has a HP Split 13-m111sa x2 notebook/tablet. She got it in March of this yearand it is currently running Win 8.1 OS with updates applied.
The problem/symptoms are this: - The WiFi connection she uses both at home and school is dropping after about 5 mins after connection. It is happening with different WiFi connections both secure and open requiring login (eg BT WiFi hot spots).
Steps/action taken so far:-
Removed known networks and re-joined
Performed IPCONFIG /flush on device
Provided static IP address to WiFi at home, different to the one supplied by the router but in the same range.
My Split X2 occasionally locks on the blue HP logo during startup. Usually a hard restart will work with no other issues. A few times, including today, the hard restart does not work and it continues to lock on the logo screen. I hard restarted around ten times today before it finally fully booted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ACER Aspire 5542g and i've had a problem with it lately, when I turn it on, the fan starts running, the harddrive turns on, and the CD drive starts up, the power button LED is on, but all that shows up is a black screen. I have tried the "Take out the charger and battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds", tried switching the RAM, tried taking out the harddrive, and all have been a fail. And I am honestly confused, because some of the time (rarely) it will turn on, and literally everything about the laptop is perfectly fine, and its like nothing happened. Until you turn it off.

I put it to a shop and they told me it was a motherboard/cpu problem and they couldn't source parts. I managed to get the parts. I put the motherboard first, but didn't work. I then added the cpu and put on thermal paste, but still didn't work.
My laptop will power on but I'm still getting a blinking light on the caps lock button and a black screen.
I have an Aspire V5-572P-6454. Occasionally I accidentally hit the power button on the side of the computer and it makes my screen go black. I can't figure out how to get me screen back, thought it was a lighting issue and tried Fn and the left and right arrows, but that doesn't work. When i turn on the power, nothing is displayed on the screen. When i hold fn+power I get 2 flashing lights and one solid. The num lock and cap lock flash. I don't really know what this means. I have also done a BIST and the laptop seems to pass this just fine. (Different colors flash on the screen). I have tried removing ram 1 at a time but it always blinks the same lights. Could this be a problem with the motherboard?
My T420 takes about 20 seconds from pushing the power on button to the Lenovo POST screen. After that boot takes about 30 seconds to Desktop. What bothers me is this long wait until I see the POST screen. It doesn't seem normal to me.
My System is setup with Windows 7 64bit booting from UEFI on a mSATA Crucial M500 SSD. It has 16GB of Ram and a i7 CPU. I have the newest BIOS (1.46) installed.
Why it takes this long to reach the POST screen?
I own a M6700 and have had a few problems with it so Dell upgraded me to an M6800. Problem is that my M6700 had an IPS screen and this feature is no longer available with the M6800 so I reluctantly opted for the matt 1920x1080. I currently have both machines while I transfer data etc so I did some comparison photos comparing the screen quality.M6800 on the LEFT (matt standard) and the M6700 on the RIGHT (IPS)I am really disappointed with the quality of the M6800 screen (matt 1920 x 1080). I can't believe this standard is acceptable.
I mean this is a high spec laptop and Dell offer a screen this bad? The viewing angle is almost unusable. Left to right angle - not so bad, but up and down is so bad that I have to constantly move my head up and down to get an understanding of the colours on my screen. Everything thing is washed out and lacks vibrancy with a blue tinge through it.
I have an Inspiron 15 Intel N5040 I purchased 10 months ago. I am noticing that on photographs (like my screensaver background) there are fuzzy lines across the screen kind of like straight sunrays at an angle. The problem is, my prior Inspiron had the same problem after about 16 months and the end result was an unusable laptop because the screen went out completely.

I haven't had many problems with it but just today, I have run into a few issues, wont load up, the power light flashes for a split second then nothing which seemed to resolve it's self after I ran a systems diagnostics (which everything was running fine and I received no error codes). I left it alone for a few hours and then when I started it back it up....nothing. It isn't taking charge though the charger is still showing a green light on it. I've taken the battery out and held down the button for 15-30-45 seconds all with no result.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOkay so i probaly have the weirdest problem ever with this laptop, so the issue started when the display stopped working properly and would only work at a certain angle or when u would apply slight pressure on a certain part of the screen, faulty monitor correct?wrong. When i uninstalled the intel gpu drivers and reverted back to the standard microsoft display adapter all these problems disappeared, screen would work at all angles and the display would have no issues, so that sums out the possibility of the monitor being faulty. The display starts having these issues everytime the intel display drivers are installed, it just blows my mind how this is even a thing. The screen flickers twice and turns off after windows is done booting when the intel drivers are installed and works perfectly without them.
