My Split X2 occasionally locks on the blue HP logo during startup. Usually a hard restart will work with no other issues. A few times, including today, the hard restart does not work and it continues to lock on the logo screen. I hard restarted around ten times today before it finally fully booted.

Recently she has been unable to start the laptop up as it just hangs at the HP splash logo with the 'buffer circle' going around.
I was hoping to find how to do a hard reset on this model.
Pavillion DV6-2155dx from 2010 working fine earlier today, then went to turn it back on and it generated a blank blue screen and will not go any further . . . no error message at all. Ran a "Start Up Test" which said that Memory Test passed, Smart Check passed, but Short DST failed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHP g7-1150us .....Problem started after replacement of the touch pad/mouse cover. It initially did not power on. I plugged in AC in case the battery was dead and tried again.
Then it started the continual blinking. I tried the hard reset, hitting ESC upon powerup but had no luck. The hard drive is spinning, but not seeking.
I removed the new panel, and put the old one back in and there was no change. I'm confident that I did get all the cables & connectors in correctly.
I thought I may have killed one of the memory sticks, so I tried installing just one. I do not get any of the 6 different blink sequences, it blinks slowly about 1/sec continuously.
I have a Compaq mini 110 which locks me out at boot up and says Enter Current Password Now: After 3 entries, it halts with CNU924630
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought this Split x 2 a week ago and it came with WIndows 8. Everything was working fine until I upgraded to WIndows 8.1. Now my Touchpad will freeze some times and I have to log out and log back in to my profile to unfreeze the touchpad other times I can get it to unfreeze by resetting the release touch screen buttom.
I called HP customer service and they said it was a Microsoft issue and transfer me to them. Microsoft said it was a hardware (HP) Issue and that i needed to go back to the store where I bought it(BestBuy). I took it back yesterday to BestBuy and they gave me a knew one. I did the same thing and upgraded to Windows 8.1 and touchpad issues is back. So pretty sure is not a hardware issue.
All windows updates are completed. I checked the Touchpad's Driver and it is up to date.
NOTE: I plugged a wireless mouse to my laptop and when the touchpad freezes the wireless mouse still works.
Everything else works great on the laptop is just very inconvenient when you are working and you have to log out to get your touchpad to work again.
My daughter has a HP Split 13-m111sa x2 notebook/tablet. She got it in March of this yearand it is currently running Win 8.1 OS with updates applied.
The problem/symptoms are this: - The WiFi connection she uses both at home and school is dropping after about 5 mins after connection. It is happening with different WiFi connections both secure and open requiring login (eg BT WiFi hot spots).
Steps/action taken so far:-
Removed known networks and re-joined
Performed IPCONFIG /flush on device
Provided static IP address to WiFi at home, different to the one supplied by the router but in the same range.
I bought this HP Split X2 about two months ago. When I am working on it, if I move and the screen moves ever so slightly back and forth, it will completely shut down. I have to adjust the screen to a angle where the power button will turn it on.

-Freezes on the windows logo when booting up (windows 7).
-Freezes when booting safe mode.
-Freezes when trying to go into recovery tools.
I've had my MBP since 1 week now, and I've been using it a lot. At first, the startup time was around 35 seconds, but recently I have noticed that the blue screen at the end of the startup process is staying for much longer than it should (around 8 seconds).
I have tried:
-Repairing Disk with the Disk Utility and the Leopard DVD
-Repairing Permissions
-Defragmenting (3rd party software)
-Deleting the ApplicationEnhancement.bundle file using [command-S]
-Deleting preference files of uninstalled programs.
But nothing worked. The blue screen still lasts 8 seconds and the pointer appears at the top left corner. The startup time is now 50 seconds, which is about the same as Windows and I don't want that.
I've had this computer for a long time. Last night it was working perfectly and then when I tried to turn the computer on, it loaded and went to the startup screen with the microsoft logo and from there it got stuck. I tried to hit F11 and do a diagnostic test but when it was finished it told me the computer was not able to restart because of memory or something like that. I've also tried to take the battery out, but that didn't work either.

I have a HP pavilion G6 which worked fine for like half a year. Today i wanted to startup my laptop, but it seems to be stuck on a black screen (with my cursor appeared) after the HP loading screen. Sometimes at the startup it says "preparing automatic restore", but results after loading at the same black screen.I tried to solve this problem with the following things:
1. Hard reset (turn off everything, hold power button 30 seconds, turn on everything and startup etc.)
2. Replacing RAM. Someone at the forum said this worked, but it didn't.
3. Tried taking off all USB devices such as mouse, DC adapter etc. and started up but didn't work.
A month ago i tried doing a factory reset, but my laptop seemed to be stuck on the same black screen.

Then, it'll finally get to the welcome screen, but before it loads my desktop, I'll get another lingering blank screen with a cursor. I have also tried draining the battery and recharging then rebooting but nothing happened. It is completely unresponsive. The laptop was running hot. I cleaned the dust from the fan area. The battery is bad. I checked the volts on the charger which was 43v - bought a new charger that's 18.5 v. I wiped the ram and started with one and moved to different positions. I now have a black screen with the cap lock key blinking blue non-stop and the f12 key led light is constantly on orange. What I should try next and what does the cap lock led blinking without stopping means - is that a code or have a significance?

I am having a bad blue-screen issue with my hp dv6-1245dx laptop. I am crashing to a blue screen at very random times, starting with one occurence a few months ago, followed by two months with no problems, then a few crashes in a row three weeks ago, followed by three weeks of good use. In the last three days the occurences are pretty much every 10 to 20 mintues, at random, and they require a few minutes of waiting before it will crank back up again. ( If I don't wait this short time, it will crank but it throws a black error screen saying "No operating system found" ) I fear it is some failing hardware issue, like the HD about to give out. I have run the Image Diag.exe from the first post on this forum, and have that log cab file available. I also have an image of the blue screen ( it is the same each time, the error is a STOP: 0x000000F4).

My VGN-Z820D locks up intermittently. This happens every few days and always about 5 minutes after resuming from sleep. It seems to happen whenever as program is launched.
You double click and the circle starts spinning but nothing happens. The spinning circle can be moved around but that's it. CTL-ALT-DEL does nothing. You have to turn off the laptop.
I have tried keeping the task manager open when it happens but noithing happens in the manager. No cpu activity, no changing of processes, nothing.
This is windows 7 pro. I have removed almost all of the sony bloatware, step by step and nothing changes. I have the following items left
VAIO Care, COntrol Center, DVD Menu, Event Service, OOBE and Startup assistant, and origninal function settings.
There is nothing in the event logs at all, no errors or warnings.
All of the drivers are up to date.
There is never a problem during use if it doesn't fail at around 5 minutes. This pretty well rules out a hardware failure. I can go for days without this happening but then it happens again.
