I have a envy 17 laptop with Windows 8.1 and I was trying to change the display settings after applying one the mouse and all the icons on the desktop disappeared I tried accessing task manager but the screen just switched to a light blue color with no error message. Ive tried restarting it but that hasn't done anything, what to do?
View 9 RepliesI just got around to trying out this laptop from a few years back. It was stored and before that it had only been used a few times.
It's been freezing *every* time I use it. Mouse just freezes in place and it's stuck. I tried doing a fresh install with all of the system disks and it still froze. I then tried to upgrade it to Windows 7, it still froze and it was pretty slow, so I did another fresh install with the system disks. Now I'm back to WinXP and it's still freezing.
I checked the event logs and it doesn't seem to register anything - maybe freezing too quickly? It seems to freeze whenever I do heavy web browsing or transferring files on my network via wireless, But I can't be sure and that might be a false lead, it just seems to happen when I'm doing those.
I think it may be a broken fan, The center fan runs smoothly, but the fan with the cooling unit on the side never seems to run at all. Is there any way to tell if the fan is broken? Is there any way to manually make it run so I can check if it's working? Should it be on all the time, or does it only come on when it gets hot?
I just bought a HP envy x2 but I'm stuck on the power on password screen. The error code is 68419712.

I here my laptop running but it looks like my screen just stopped working. I wasnt sure what it was so I bought a new battery to see if that was the problem and the screen still does not come on. View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a bad blue-screen issue with my hp dv6-1245dx laptop. I am crashing to a blue screen at very random times, starting with one occurence a few months ago, followed by two months with no problems, then a few crashes in a row three weeks ago, followed by three weeks of good use. In the last three days the occurences are pretty much every 10 to 20 mintues, at random, and they require a few minutes of waiting before it will crank back up again. ( If I don't wait this short time, it will crank but it throws a black error screen saying "No operating system found" ) I fear it is some failing hardware issue, like the HD about to give out. I have run the Image Diag.exe from the first post on this forum, and have that log cab file available. I also have an image of the blue screen ( it is the same each time, the error is a STOP: 0x000000F4).

I performed a hard reset, now when I press the power button the charging light next to the AC power input blinks 3 times (which according to HP customer support webpages indicates a problem with the RAM)...
SO...I opened her up and replaced both RAM modules with brand new ones, done another hard reset and IM STILL GETTING 3 BLINKING LIGHTS and no start u.
My laptop is stuck on start up mode and does Nothing what can i do tofix it?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has been messed up ever since I updated it.It all started when I got a notification to update to windows 8.1. It was all good until the next day when I started it up and it would not pick up any Internet connection even though I knew my router was working as I could get an Internet connection on my mobile. I went to the network and sharing center and it said there that it was disabled so I right clicked on it to enable it. After I clicked it, my laptop went to a blue screen and came up with the following message something like this: we've encountered a problem, we're gathering some error info and we will restart your device.
So, it restarted and I tried to re enable the network again and the same thing happened. After about 5 tries the restart thing kept happening. I didn't know what to do so I thought to just restore the laptop. I did that and now it's just in this continuous blue screen restart loop. I can't even get to the log in Window, it just keeps going to the blue Window and then restarting.This is a new laptop, not even 6 months old and it was fine until I was told to update. I'm thinking of just taking it into the repair Centre as I have warranty and I feel as if I can't fix this problem myself as I can't even get into my actual desktop.

Just bought this laptop. When I press the power button, the blue light comes on but not the screen. I'm able to charge my phone but that's it. I have to turn the laptop on and off several times before the screen comes on.

I have also tried draining the battery and recharging then rebooting but nothing happened. It is completely unresponsive. It used to work just fine, just last night I've been playing games and it was working smoothly. But when I woke up and booted up my laptop, nothing was working. View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got my new hp pavillion dv7-1000, it loaded up and i did all the registration stuff before you actually get to using the laptop but as the vista desktop loads up i closed to lid and it put the laptop on standby.
Now when i try to turn the laptop on i get to the log on screen, put in my password, it loads up and then i get a blue screen with my mouse cursor but no desktop icons or anything. I can still do control-alt-delete but i just cant see any of the other stuff.

I am getting a white screen with some light blue horizontal lines. I've do a hard shut down and restart but same result. At one point I did see half of the normal start up screen but it faded away to white.

I'll usually close the lid to put it into sleep mode when I have to do something else. But when I open it back up, it has the "Start windows normally or safe mode" sreen. I've noticed that this only happens after a certain amount of time of being in sleep mode. If I wake it up prior to that, it works just fine. I hope that this can be resolved since this is a brand new laptop.

I have a envy dv6 serial 2ce2502rs6 product b6b49av. It starts up with hp logo and goes to black screen. I tried repair before and it didn't work. I tried the hard restart and it came on and I selected repair and it didn't work again so I selected turn off and now it goes to black screen.
