View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got around to trying out this laptop from a few years back. It was stored and before that it had only been used a few times.
It's been freezing *every* time I use it. Mouse just freezes in place and it's stuck. I tried doing a fresh install with all of the system disks and it still froze. I then tried to upgrade it to Windows 7, it still froze and it was pretty slow, so I did another fresh install with the system disks. Now I'm back to WinXP and it's still freezing.
I checked the event logs and it doesn't seem to register anything - maybe freezing too quickly? It seems to freeze whenever I do heavy web browsing or transferring files on my network via wireless, But I can't be sure and that might be a false lead, it just seems to happen when I'm doing those.
I think it may be a broken fan, The center fan runs smoothly, but the fan with the cooling unit on the side never seems to run at all. Is there any way to tell if the fan is broken? Is there any way to manually make it run so I can check if it's working? Should it be on all the time, or does it only come on when it gets hot?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has been messed up ever since I updated it.It all started when I got a notification to update to windows 8.1. It was all good until the next day when I started it up and it would not pick up any Internet connection even though I knew my router was working as I could get an Internet connection on my mobile. I went to the network and sharing center and it said there that it was disabled so I right clicked on it to enable it. After I clicked it, my laptop went to a blue screen and came up with the following message something like this: we've encountered a problem, we're gathering some error info and we will restart your device.
So, it restarted and I tried to re enable the network again and the same thing happened. After about 5 tries the restart thing kept happening. I didn't know what to do so I thought to just restore the laptop. I did that and now it's just in this continuous blue screen restart loop. I can't even get to the log in Window, it just keeps going to the blue Window and then restarting.This is a new laptop, not even 6 months old and it was fine until I was told to update. I'm thinking of just taking it into the repair Centre as I have warranty and I feel as if I can't fix this problem myself as I can't even get into my actual desktop.
