It has no recovery hard drive as hard drive is fully formatted. i want to flash my bios because i know bios is corrupted. How can i flash my bios using usb drive. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a compaq presario CQ56 - 154CA laptop. I wiped the hard drive using DriveCleanser in TrueImage Home 2011 and then attempted to load the recovery manager with F11 (or F10 or whatever it is), but now all I get is a red screen with the big Q logo with "press ESC for startup menu" on the bottom left and it just hangs there. I did wipe the Win7 and the System partitions, but not the Recovery partition. I did do a backup of those 3 partitions onto my external drive, but the laptop won't boot from a bootable flash drive I made in True Image, nor any of my boot CD's. And I did set the bios to boot from flash first, then DVD, then hard drive before wiping.
I didn't make the recovery DVD's with Recovery Manager in Win7, but I shouldn't need them since the Recovery partition is still there.
I've read that some Compaq laptops use a utility on the hard drive to load the bios, startup menu etc, so if that is the case with mine then it was thoroughly deleted. If this is the case, is there any way I can get it back on the drive?
If not, I could try to remove the drive and put it in an ext enclosure and hook it up to my desktop. It's possible that I can use the flash drive to use True Image to restore the two wiped partitions. Also, I've read that in this instance, removing the drive and then turning on the laptop may allow the bios to load, but I'd really rather not take out the drive if I don't have to.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has been messed up ever since I updated it.It all started when I got a notification to update to windows 8.1. It was all good until the next day when I started it up and it would not pick up any Internet connection even though I knew my router was working as I could get an Internet connection on my mobile. I went to the network and sharing center and it said there that it was disabled so I right clicked on it to enable it. After I clicked it, my laptop went to a blue screen and came up with the following message something like this: we've encountered a problem, we're gathering some error info and we will restart your device.
So, it restarted and I tried to re enable the network again and the same thing happened. After about 5 tries the restart thing kept happening. I didn't know what to do so I thought to just restore the laptop. I did that and now it's just in this continuous blue screen restart loop. I can't even get to the log in Window, it just keeps going to the blue Window and then restarting.This is a new laptop, not even 6 months old and it was fine until I was told to update. I'm thinking of just taking it into the repair Centre as I have warranty and I feel as if I can't fix this problem myself as I can't even get into my actual desktop.
I just got around to trying out this laptop from a few years back. It was stored and before that it had only been used a few times.
It's been freezing *every* time I use it. Mouse just freezes in place and it's stuck. I tried doing a fresh install with all of the system disks and it still froze. I then tried to upgrade it to Windows 7, it still froze and it was pretty slow, so I did another fresh install with the system disks. Now I'm back to WinXP and it's still freezing.
I checked the event logs and it doesn't seem to register anything - maybe freezing too quickly? It seems to freeze whenever I do heavy web browsing or transferring files on my network via wireless, But I can't be sure and that might be a false lead, it just seems to happen when I'm doing those.
I think it may be a broken fan, The center fan runs smoothly, but the fan with the cooling unit on the side never seems to run at all. Is there any way to tell if the fan is broken? Is there any way to manually make it run so I can check if it's working? Should it be on all the time, or does it only come on when it gets hot?
I have a envy 17 laptop with Windows 8.1 and I was trying to change the display settings after applying one the mouse and all the icons on the desktop disappeared I tried accessing task manager but the screen just switched to a light blue color with no error message. Ive tried restarting it but that hasn't done anything, what to do?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently got this laptop and wanted to upgrade to Windows 8.1 immediatly since it came with Windows 7. This was of course and option with the disc set that came with the laptop. Unfortunately i have encountered problems in the installation/recovery of Windows 8.1.
When the laptop is finished using the actual disc's (i say finished because it spits out disc 4 which is the last one) and is booting into the OS to do the last installing it "freezes" in the middle of "dowork.cmd". In the cmd window it tries to access a destination directory which it can't. Instead of writing it here, i'm just gonna link a picture of it:

I have hp pavilion dv6 laptop.I am trying to recover my whole system with the recovery discs i have created . But it stuck afetr windows logo on a blue screen with mouse pointer.
And whenever i tried to install from other media then its shows error 0Xc00000f.
Last night my laptop was working perfectly and then when I tried to turn the computer on, it loaded and went to the startup screen with the Microsoft logo and from there it got stuck. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a hp mini 110-3538tu and it has been playing up in every which way and very slow so I have a USB with Windows 7 which I am trying to install over windows 7 starter but when I get to the part where I have to select the driver to be installed I can choose my USB but it say no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, then click OK. I cannot get past here.

I tried:
1. Mobile Express Chipset SAAT AHCI controler drivers from the (a) Intel websites (b) Lenovo website and (c) extracting drivers from running system
2. tried supplying drivers on DVD/CD and USB
3. tried to integrate drivers into Windows 7 Installation using RT7Lite
4. did bios update
5. switched from AHCO to compatible mode
In any case it finds the driver as the correct one (when I click hide drivers that are not compatible, the one remains). But always displays no driver found and doesn't continue setup.
This seems to be a bug!!!
1. Is there a way to fix this and perform a clean Windows 7 installation without recovery?
2. Am I trying the wrong driver, but have to install a driver for a different device first???
I am about to replace the HDD with an SDD and there can not use recovery!
I've recently get support from HP team and installed my original windows 7 home premium using my product key. Then installed updates of Wireless, Internet and Home Network, but within a short period, my laptop get stuck and no keyboard could not work at all except power on/off button. Then I installed my original windows 7 home premium and it was, I can access although I could not installed any other programs and my personal ducoment.

I've had the W530 for two years and there is an issue when turning on the laptop. I haven't contact Lenovo's warranty yet.
When I press the power button, frequently it shows the Thinkpad white logo against black background and won't load. Windows at all. It just stuck there.
I have already restore the system but the problem is still there.
Oddly, when it does work (which is rare), the "to interrupt normal startup, press enter" appears. Everytime it works, that phrase would appears.
The only components I have connected to this laptop are ethernet cable for internet, USB hub, and external drive hooked up through PC slot on the side.

The problem is that, when i shutdown my laptop, it doesnt shutsdown, it turns off the screen, but not the processor, fan, touchpad, the light and fan movement is ON and it never shuts down. Then I have forcibly press n hold the Power button to shut it down !
It also has a delayed Startup issue! But Restart function just works fine..!
I don't graphics drivers installed on the system - its AMD ATI RADEON 6700M HD - no compatible drivers available !
Twice, I was holding it in my left hand and typing with my right. Yesterday, I was holding it and turned it on, and it froze in the middle of booting up. Not squeezing hard, just holding it.
If I start off with this sitting on a table, then turning on, it works with no freezing.
I'm kind of wondering if the pressure exerted right under my finger can be squeezing something inside causing the lockup.
And would it be easy enough to unscrew/remove the entire back to see whats going on inside?
