HP X360 Lockups :: Black Screen After Login?
Jan 22, 2015I recently got my x360, used it for about a month, go to turn it on, boots up fine then I log in, and it goes to a black screen with the cursor, can't do anything except ctrl alt delete, then task manager, nothing is running, it's just a blank, black screenI've restarted it multiple times with no luck, and is becoming very bothersome.

After the updates, I can't do anything except turn on the computer, see the HP page, the green log in with password page, then all goes dark blue and freezes. Mar 5, 2013I have a envy dv6 serial 2ce2502rs6 product b6b49av. It starts up with hp logo and goes to black screen. I tried repair before and it didn't work. I tried the hard restart and it came on and I selected repair and it didn't work again so I selected turn off and now it goes to black screen.

Jul 18, 2014My HP Envy dv6 recently did one of its updates and after that it restarted. Now when I turn my computer on it has the Hp logo, the login and after I log in nothing. There's just a black screen with a glow and the cursor. I know it's working because I can hear noises and the fan going but I can't see my desktop. But if I use the simple pass finger identification it will take me to the we page I saved on the designated finger. That's the only way I can get to the internet. I can't use anything else because I can't see my desktop. I can do ctrl alt del and that pops up but it doesn't do any good. I did the unplug everything, take out the battery, plug in AC adapter but not the battery , hold power button for 15 seconds then put the AC adapter but not the battery and turn on thing and nothing changed. I tried multiple restarts and shutdowns and nothing changed.

Aug 30, 2014I just got a problem today on my HP Envy notebook Product number = F7P58PA. It has working fine till yesterday night. It has windows 8.1 on it, and may be some updates are installed on it during the night (I am not too sure about it).
THe issue is that when I login to windows by providing my pin the start up screen does not show up. its simply blank with cursor showing only. ALT-CTRL DEL gives the task manager and I can run internet explorer through task manager run command but start up screen remains blank.
I have done battery, memory etc tests and nothing has resolved the issue.

After windows loads with the glowing animation, the login screen does not appear. I cannot open a task manager. I don't know if it's a problem with explorer.exe or what.
The explorer.exe crashed when I tried to connect to an external hard drive, and I tried to get task manager to open, but it wouldn't open.
That's when I tried to restart computer, and login screen would not appear. All I have is a black screen with cursor.

Jun 29, 2014Im a ENVY 17-j092nr Notebook PC (windows 8.1) pc user with all drivers and OS updates working fine, nevertheless sometimes im getting an annoying error that makes windows vibrate like crazy, the problem is a little odd to explain, it makes the BAR on explorer.exe folder flick and other "content frames" from several software, on Firefox for instance the upper bar which is orange start flicking useless, or in vlc it flicks the same, and then the worst on the windows log screen, that makes my picture flicks fast from the left to the middle several times per second, making impossible to write any password and its especially annoying when simple pass stop working.
Thing that i tried:
-Changing mouse and installing video, display, mouse and other drivers besides updating them.
-Using Windows build and external software fix and repair utilities.
-Updating OS (Why? dk but i was trying alternatives).
-Disconnection electricity when this happens didn't work.
-Cleaning fan and avoiding any external particle on mouse laser.

Sep 29, 2013I have a HP pavilion G6 which worked fine for like half a year. Today i wanted to startup my laptop, but it seems to be stuck on a black screen (with my cursor appeared) after the HP loading screen. Sometimes at the startup it says "preparing automatic restore", but results after loading at the same black screen.I tried to solve this problem with the following things:
1. Hard reset (turn off everything, hold power button 30 seconds, turn on everything and startup etc.)
2. Replacing RAM. Someone at the forum said this worked, but it didn't.
3. Tried taking off all USB devices such as mouse, DC adapter etc. and started up but didn't work.
A month ago i tried doing a factory reset, but my laptop seemed to be stuck on the same black screen.

Jul 8, 2014I have recently purchased an HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook Windows 7 Professional (PC Product #: E1P05AV). I'll usually close the lid to put it into sleep mode when I have to do something else. But when I open it back up, it has the "Start windows normally or safe mode" sreen. I've noticed that this only happens after a certain amount of time of being in sleep mode. If I wake it up prior to that, it works just fine. I hope that this can be resolved since this is a brand new laptop.
