My hp pavilion x360 was working fine today inthe morning when I turned it on it all seemed normal I put in the log in password and once I hit enter the screen went black bu the cursor was still showing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have pavilion dv7, so far I had no problem. Now, when I login it logs in but then instead of showing me the home screen, it goes into blank black screen. It has just started to happen and I hope there is another way to make it work without rebooting the whole system.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.
I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.
I have a ThinkPad X230 Tablet. I tried system restore and safe mode, but none of it works.
After windows loads with the glowing animation, the login screen does not appear. I cannot open a task manager. I don't know if it's a problem with explorer.exe or what.
The explorer.exe crashed when I tried to connect to an external hard drive, and I tried to get task manager to open, but it wouldn't open.
That's when I tried to restart computer, and login screen would not appear. All I have is a black screen with cursor.
I have a HP pavilion G6 which worked fine for like half a year. Today i wanted to startup my laptop, but it seems to be stuck on a black screen (with my cursor appeared) after the HP loading screen. Sometimes at the startup it says "preparing automatic restore", but results after loading at the same black screen.I tried to solve this problem with the following things:
1. Hard reset (turn off everything, hold power button 30 seconds, turn on everything and startup etc.)
2. Replacing RAM. Someone at the forum said this worked, but it didn't.
3. Tried taking off all USB devices such as mouse, DC adapter etc. and started up but didn't work.
A month ago i tried doing a factory reset, but my laptop seemed to be stuck on the same black screen.
The laptop was running hot. I cleaned the dust from the fan area. The battery is bad. I checked the volts on the charger which was 43v - bought a new charger that's 18.5 v. I wiped the ram and started with one and moved to different positions. I now have a black screen with the cap lock key blinking blue non-stop and the f12 key led light is constantly on orange. What I should try next and what does the cap lock led blinking without stopping means - is that a code or have a significance?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was using my HP Pavilion g7 the other day, while gaming and the screen went black for no appairent reason. i haven't down loaded anything recently and i run virus software.
We went to the HP support web site and went through several diagnotics. When the laptop is rebooted the screen on the laptop will flash images of my desk top but once the machine boots up the screen remains blank. you can see the glow from around the edges but that is it. I have another monitor plugged in currently and the system is functioning propertly except for this. We have also done the following, hard reset,Test for memory modual problems, test the hard drive. I was also trying to update the video drivers but the system tells me the drivers are working properly.
I have had my Hp dv7 notebook for a few months now and have had no problems. But all of a sudden, I turn on the computer and see nothng but a blank, black screen. I do not know if I changed the display settings or what, but I cannot see anything. I know the computer is functioning because the fan turns on and the keyboard lights work. When I connected my laptop to an external monitor, I was able to see that my computer was on and fully functional. In fact, I am using it right now on an external monitor to type this message.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy screen gets black when I start windows 7 on my Hp Paviliom Dm1 Notebook. Also I connected my pc to an external monitor through VGA cable and then I can see the windows operating system in the external monitor . I did a start-up test and then I got these results:
Memory Test: Passed
Smart check: Passed
Short dst: Passed
Optimized DST: Software Error
Battery test: Primary Passed Secondary - NOT Installed
PCI Device check: Passed.-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Start-up Test: Passed
It's about my old notebook, hp pavilion dv7 1130el bought 5 years ago, it always wokerd fine but now its screen goes black without reasons... at first I thought it might be overheating, but that's totally random:
-sometimes works even when is hot
-sometimes goes blackafter I turn it on and then open google
-sometimes works for a while, when its not hot, and then goes black
I don't have a second monitor to connect it, but even if the screen goes black I can still hear the music from youtube, so I guess it's just the screen.
HP Pavilion dv7 1130el, Windows 7 ultimate, runned fine for a year with this OS.
My hp Pavilion dv7-4157cl turns on but has no display. monitor is completely black. I connected an external monitor and still no display.

Luckily I was able to plug it into an external monitor with a VGA cable and I have a monitor in my office, but I really cannot be restricted to my living room or office to use my laptop.

To the problem now : A few days ago my laptops screen started out of a sudden shutting down/turning black( no lights at all ). This was happening while using the laptop at random. The screen had no lights, and if i use a flashlight on it there is nothing. like its turned off completely.
Before this happens. This behavior varies. Sometimes it flickers from my desktop to a black screen then back on and some times not. Most of the times screen changed to a random color (green mostly) then becomes black/shuts down.
NOTE: The laptop keeps running, i can hear the videos playing so it probably isn't a gpu chip or gpu issue , music and games.
Here are everything i tried and all or the details i could accumulate in past couple of days:
1. If the screen flickers , blacks out and then turns back on i get a message that gpu drivers have stopped working and recovered ( on both amd and intel ).
2. If the screen blacks out, on rare ocasions if you close the laptop lid and let the laptop go to sleep , when waking up screen works again ( noticable due to screen moving)
3. I tried installing 4 different drivers all with clear install. ( didn't work)
4. I tried to to recover system with restore point. ( didn't work)
5. I tried to lower the screen brightness. ( didn't work)
6. tried this trick: Turn off laptop.. Remove battery.. Hold the power button for 30-45 seconds.. Plug-in the charger ( don't put the battery in )Turn on laptop and see if it works.
Very Noticable details:
7. Since on of the rare fixes requires to move the lid i tried shaking the screen a bit or pushing it slightly to different directions. This actually does the trick and turns the screen back on ( i am right now typing this after using this "trick"
So, with this one as a hint there are a couple of stuff i have in mind but i am not sure ...
a) There is a loose LCD cable and when i type a little vibration moves it and ends up in a black screen.
b) I read that if you use a flashlight and you cant see your desktop it means its a bad inverter.
c) Can the inverter have a lose cabe instead of the lcd ?
Currently the screen looks ok ( maybe its the certain angle it has after i moved it. Tried to play a game for a few mins and i got the black screen again. Closed the lid so the laptop goes in sleep mode then opened it and it worked. Just for the records.
Just tried to play a game again. got the blackscreen, shaked the screen a bit and it worked but for the 1st time i get the message " Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware" , Can it be that its the GPU after all or maybe drivers?
Tried to play a game again and it seem to trigger the issue . ( i am currently running the laptop with only the intel drivers installed) ...
I have a month old Dell Inspiron 11 3000 that the screen goes black after I login to windows 8. You can see the white mouse icon and move it. It attached to a monitor- that mirrors the black screen. What do I do?

This problem has been persistent for quite sometime now.
After I boot up my laptop, there's a yellow solid screen which appears before the main starup page
comes on.
I have updated all the drivers, but the yellow screen is still appearing.
I have laptop listed above. For the past 3 days I hasn't not been able to get it in. it sounds like its starting but the screen stays black. Recently installed antivirus on 01/01/2012 because I had some kind of worm/malware. Windows 7 is the OS. Cap lock light is on and "hp combo assistant" light is on constant no blinking. View 2 Replies View RelatedMy HP Envy dv6 recently did one of its updates and after that it restarted. Now when I turn my computer on it has the Hp logo, the login and after I log in nothing. There's just a black screen with a glow and the cursor. I know it's working because I can hear noises and the fan going but I can't see my desktop. But if I use the simple pass finger identification it will take me to the we page I saved on the designated finger. That's the only way I can get to the internet. I can't use anything else because I can't see my desktop. I can do ctrl alt del and that pops up but it doesn't do any good. I did the unplug everything, take out the battery, plug in AC adapter but not the battery , hold power button for 15 seconds then put the AC adapter but not the battery and turn on thing and nothing changed. I tried multiple restarts and shutdowns and nothing changed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a problem today on my HP Envy notebook Product number = F7P58PA. It has working fine till yesterday night. It has windows 8.1 on it, and may be some updates are installed on it during the night (I am not too sure about it).
THe issue is that when I login to windows by providing my pin the start up screen does not show up. its simply blank with cursor showing only. ALT-CTRL DEL gives the task manager and I can run internet explorer through task manager run command but start up screen remains blank.
I have done battery, memory etc tests and nothing has resolved the issue.
For the past few months I've had issues with my display on my laptop. At times I would start the computer and it would either go to a black screen and take a very long time to load or I had to restart it to get it to go to the start screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an acer aspire 5536 it cam with vista everything ran fine with vista.When I installed windows 7 everything ran fine as well a week ago I started having startup problems,at first it only would take like 5 minutes to start up every few startups no big now it goes to the windows loading screen then goes black requiring me to restart it and run startup repair every time to get it to turn on. Other than that it works perfectly how do I fix it?
