I am using a g6-1004tx model.
This problem has been persistent for quite sometime now.
After I boot up my laptop, there's a yellow solid screen which appears before the main starup page
comes on.
I have updated all the drivers, but the yellow screen is still appearing.

View 9 Replies View RelatedCurrently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.
I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.
I have an hp laptop dv6500 and the last two weeks after 15 minutes of use many yellow lines show up and sometimes after rebooting the screen is divided into six parts...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated the BIOS to 2.26 a while ago and ever since then there's no on-screen indication of caps lock on/off, screen brightness or volume when I change it. Since it seemed to be affected by BIOS, I updated again to 2.27 just now, but the problem persists. I needed to update the Hotkeys Feature Integration by downloading the utility thingy from this page. Probably wasn't a BIOS thing after all.

For the past few months I've had issues with my display on my laptop. At times I would start the computer and it would either go to a black screen and take a very long time to load or I had to restart it to get it to go to the start screen.

My screen goes competely blank after the dell logo and windows logo show up on startup.
Everything works because I can still log into windows and shut it down using shortcuts and all the normal sounds are played, there is just nothing on the screen
I have an acer aspire 5536 it cam with vista everything ran fine with vista.When I installed windows 7 everything ran fine as well a week ago I started having startup problems,at first it only would take like 5 minutes to start up every few startups no big now it goes to the windows loading screen then goes black requiring me to restart it and run startup repair every time to get it to turn on. Other than that it works perfectly how do I fix it?

I did do a full system recovery with the option of not preinstalling extra software (don't need excess things on the laptop); I do not think this is the reason, but I do not remember if this happened before.
View 4 Replies View RelatedLast year I replaced my inverter as my screen was dead. I thought it was the lamp as I couldn't see the screen with a flashlight, but it was the inverter and worked fine after that.
At the same time I bought an external monitor to use for the larger size and recently I have been using the computer out and about.
So since I replaced the inverter on startup the screen will be dead most of the time. By the time it gets to XP it will turn on if I press FN and F4 several times. Sometimes I close and open the lid as I mumble obscenities, always entertaining while public. At first I thought it was the external monitor software confusing the computer into thinking it was plugged into an external but I change the screen back to notebook when I take my computer on the go.
If I boot into Ubuntu the screen will be dead during BIOS but once it gets to the log in screen on Linux the screen turns on.
Sometimes the screen will be on right from the get go. I have no problems when it is connected to an external monitor.
I've got a late 07 macbook pro with those faulty 8600 nvidia gpus. My macbook pro was working fine last night and now this afternoon its got a blank screen upon startup. I can still hear the chime and it still boots into the OS as i can still change the volume and backlit brightness etc.... Is it confirmed to say that my luck has ran out and the GPU is dead?
My warranty has expired and have no extended applecare + I bought the macbook in one of those education apple store. Will I still be able to get the free repairs as stated by apple and even if I do, won't they still replace the logic board with another unused faulty one and down the track my macbook pro will still be prone to that same failure?

I also can hear the vista opening music from when the sign in page opens........
also when I boot in safe mode it works perfectly with no problems ??
When i boot my laptop everything seems to start but the screen remains blank. Nothing will come up. I have taken it apart several times to make sure everything was connected and reaplied arctic silver to the cpu and vga.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had my MBP since 1 week now, and I've been using it a lot. At first, the startup time was around 35 seconds, but recently I have noticed that the blue screen at the end of the startup process is staying for much longer than it should (around 8 seconds).
I have tried:
-Repairing Disk with the Disk Utility and the Leopard DVD
-Repairing Permissions
-Defragmenting (3rd party software)
-Deleting the ApplicationEnhancement.bundle file using [command-S]
-Deleting preference files of uninstalled programs.
But nothing worked. The blue screen still lasts 8 seconds and the pointer appears at the top left corner. The startup time is now 50 seconds, which is about the same as Windows and I don't want that.
I was busy replacing my laptop screen on my inspiron (second time in 4 months!) and this time the screen doesn't turn on turn on when I start it. I can hear the OS running in the background and it make all the boot sounds.

Last night it was working perfectly and then when I tried to turn the computer on, it loaded and went to the startup screen with the microsoft logo and from there it got stuck. I tried to hit F11 and do a diagnostic test but when it was finished it told me the computer was not able to restart because of memory or something like that. I've also tried to take the battery out, but that didn't work either.

My HP Pavilion G6 Notebook freezes at the HP startup and does not get passed that initial page and into windows. I tried pulling the battery out, resetting many time and ran a quick diagnosis. And after running a quick diagnosis it came back with the following error:

I have a HP pavilion G6 which worked fine for like half a year. Today i wanted to startup my laptop, but it seems to be stuck on a black screen (with my cursor appeared) after the HP loading screen. Sometimes at the startup it says "preparing automatic restore", but results after loading at the same black screen.I tried to solve this problem with the following things:
1. Hard reset (turn off everything, hold power button 30 seconds, turn on everything and startup etc.)
2. Replacing RAM. Someone at the forum said this worked, but it didn't.
3. Tried taking off all USB devices such as mouse, DC adapter etc. and started up but didn't work.
A month ago i tried doing a factory reset, but my laptop seemed to be stuck on the same black screen.
I know I have read several posts about this issue but Cntl+shift+Esc not solving issue. Notebook with black screen upon startup. I hear Windows 7 booting up but have a black screen. Was troubleshooting a monitor issue again when black screen happened.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my wife just got a brand new macbook about a week ago, but accidentally dropped it about a foot or two this morning. The "case" which we got from macmall did practically nothing, and I think one corner of the macbook took the brunt of it.
Now, the macbook won't get past the grey startup screen. I'll see the mac symbol, and then a "no entry" (circle with a diagonal line through it) sign, and then the system will just hang.
I've used the Mac OS X install dvd to use Disk Utility to try to repair the hard drive, but Disk Utility didn't find any problems. Everything was green and good to go.
I'm running the Hardware Test now, but I was wondering if anyone here would have any ideas about what to do next, or what is causing this problem?
Update 1: The hardware test said everything was fine, too.
Update 2: It can boot in safe mode! Everything looks good from the safe boot, I've got access to all the files and everything..........................
My Dell Inspiron 17R laptop boots normally. I can use it for some time, until the entire screen turns green. I still see the mouse cursor and I can move it around. Ctrl alt delete doesn't work. The only way to shut it down is hard restart.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron N7010 was working fine until 2 days ago. I had it playing a movie through the HDMI port to my TV & then the video started to freeze up. Starting the next day, when I tried to start it up, it beeps 8 times & goes to a black screen, then eventually it turns off. I opened it up & re-seated the CMOS battery & checked all the ribbons. Tried holding the "d" key while powering on, the screen cycles through the colors & then goes black & powers off. Tried connecting to 2 different external monitors, could not get a picture on either.

I have a Inspiron 17R N7110 and since yesterday i have a very peculiar problem. When starting the pc, instead of a black screen, the screen is red, the windows logo is very unclear. After the startup and at the login screen there are red stripes ( like clouds) all over the screen.
And when logging in the quality of the screen is bad. When attaching an external screen there are no problems. I have checked all setting on the display to no avail. I ran the diagnostics on the bootup and found no errors.
Startup seems to be going as spec., Acer logo appears, circular arrow goes round then screen goes opaque but obviously still lit. Curser still responds but that's the end of the action.
