I was busy replacing my laptop screen on my inspiron (second time in 4 months!) and this time the screen doesn't turn on turn on when I start it. I can hear the OS running in the background and it make all the boot sounds.

Yesterday I went to turn on my laptop to do my homework and it would only power on and beep at me 7 times. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with the screen of my laptop. had bought the laptop jus 3 days back.. :( the problem I am facing is that... once I close my lid and open in in a few seconds, it still gives me a blck scree which does not respond. however If the let the lid be closed for a longer period life 10 sec it works normally. Previously today I experienced an other issue, that was, once I closed the lid and opened it back, it gave me a black screen with one bright spot. bt this was gone after pressing the power button a few times.

Starting the next day, when I tried to start it up, it beeps 8 times & goes to a black screen, then eventually it turns off. I opened it up & re-seated the CMOS battery & checked all the ribbons. Tried holding the "d" key while powering on, the screen cycles through the colors & then goes black & powers off. Tried connecting to 2 different external monitors, could not get a picture on either.

When starting the pc, instead of a black screen, the screen is red, the windows logo is very unclear. After the startup and at the login screen there are red stripes ( like clouds) all over the screen.
And when logging in the quality of the screen is bad. When attaching an external screen there are no problems. I have checked all setting on the display to no avail. I ran the diagnostics on the bootup and found no errors.
I have a dell Inspiron 15 N5010 which is about 4 years old. It was working properly, but suddenly it went off and when i restarted it, there was nothing which appeared on screen, but there was a beep sound which went on until i turned my laptop off. Even the startup screen didnt appeared during this. The power button lights up, fan is running, but the screen is not coming up.
I have noticed one thing also, if i put it on for long time, so that it gains enough heat due to constatnt running and then I restart it, the screen will come. and after sometime, the screen distorts and after few seconds, the laptop screen turns black and the beep sound appears which start crying until i turn laptop off.
My Inspiron 1525 when it starts up and I choose startup repair after a few seconds the screen will go black. If I start up windows normally, it will think and then shows a window that says " a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer".. I pressed F12 at startup and chose diagnostics and I got the error code 0142. What should I do??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my Inspiron N5010 screen, it doesn't work when switching on my laptop on Battery or AC mode. It happens a lot of times when I turn on the laptop the power button, the power indicators at the bottom turns on normally and the laptop is running without any weird sounds. But the screen is pitch black even doesn't show up anything when I concentrate on it in with a lamp or any light.
When I press the power button again even after 5 mins from the start time of being running the laptop just turn off immediately and doesn't take time to switch off as If the windows wasn't loaded!
I was resolving this problem by disconnecting the AC adapter > removing the battery > Pressing and hold the power button for 20 seconds technique.but today it doesn't work anymore, If there's anything I can do to get the screen backlight to work normally ....
it's just stuck there, the blue progress bar doesn't show up, I tried pressing f8 but nothing appears. I have also tried draining the battery and recharging then rebooting but nothing happened. It is completely unresponsive. It used to work just fine, just last night I've been playing games and it was working smoothly. But when I woke up and booted up my laptop, nothing was working. By the way, what's the small button underneath the laptop, I think it is the master reset button, because my brother was thinking of pressing it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I was using my Inspiron 1545 and everything was going fine, then suddenly the screen just went nuts. It was green and pink, flickering, and had bars flashing everywhere. I turned it off manually, and after that it would turn on a few times (BIOS graphics were fine) but the desktop would be messed up. Then soon after that, I couldn't even get to BIOS. I press the power, the fan starts for like 2 seconds, then the laptop completely shuts down. I've tried removing the power supply and battery, holding the power button, then putting them back to no avail. I've also tried having it only connected to the power supply. I've even tried removing one of the two RAM.

When i turn on the power, nothing is displayed on the screen. When i hold fn+power I get 2 flashing lights and one solid. The num lock and cap lock flash. I don't really know what this means. I have also done a BIST and the laptop seems to pass this just fine. (Different colors flash on the screen). I have tried removing ram 1 at a time but it always blinks the same lights. Could this be a problem with the motherboard?

My Dell Inspiron 1525 has suddenly decided not to turn on. I get up to a Windows Vista screen where it says "Configuring updates stage 3/3" and then it restarts itself again and again. I can't get it to do anything else. Before it wasn't even getting that far and it was restarting itself and giving me the option to launch startup repair which I did. I tried to restore the system but I was told that there were no system restore points. I turned it off and on again and it then started to take me up to the configuring updates page but no further than that and I no longer get the launch startup repair option. I have also been having a problem with the battery where every time I turn it on it says "ac power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined" and then won't charge so I can only run it when plugged in but at the moment I would just like to get it to turn on!

Alternately, is there a software solution to control the keyboard backlight?
We have a Dell Inspiron 1525. It has been having overheating problems for a while, so tonight I opened it up, removed the heatsink, cleaned out the clogged up fan and cleaned/replaced the thermal paste on the CPU. While taking off the heatsink, the thermal pad that was on the GPU tore. I didn't have another pad handy, so I used (non-conductive) thermal paste on that as well. Also, while I had the heatsink out, I inspected the CPU and found that one of the corner pins was actually bent outward (yes, it came from the factory that way!), so I (very carefully) straightened it before reseating the CPU.
Now, when I try to start the computer the screen stays completely blank (no Dell logo, no command lines, nothing), the HD and disc drives spin, and after a few seconds the entire system dies...
I have tried some of the solutions (unplug power, hold pwr button 30 sec, plug in power, and boot; remove/swap the memory) but so far nothing has worked.
What could the problem be? Could switching from a thermal pad to thermal paste on the GPU cause this? Or straightening the bent CPU pin? Could it have been intentionally bent to work properly? I've certainly never heard of such a thing...
I have an hp pavillion g6 laptop (Product QE05UA#ABA, Model: g6-1c35dx). For a while its been causing problems, it's been slow, showing viruses, and now it wont start up. I left it on sleep mode last night, once i opened it up today it was turned off. I figured it lost battery which usually doesn't happen, but I turned it on and it shows a blinking screen that comes on and then turns black, over and over. The blinking screen shows "press esc key for startup menu".
Also, the caps lock key blinks once when that screen comes on. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 since May 2013; it has been updated to Windows 8.1, 4GB RAM, etc. It's been a great laptop in all honesty.
However, in the last few weeks, I've had some issues with the laptop booting up. Originally, it would turn on, but then stick with a black screen (no other sounds of the computer starting up), and then beep 7 times. Per another forum post I read, that's indicative of a Processor Failure.
In this case, I'd remove AC Power, the battery, give it about 15-20 seconds, then reconnect the charger. The laptop would turn back on, no problems. I'd end up popping the battery back in a little later, and it'd charge with no issues. This has been my fix in the meantime for the last month or so.
Now, I can't get my laptop to even register that it's connected to AC Power. It'll just stay black, and then beep 7 times in a row repeatedly. I've tried using another AC Adapter, in the case my adapter died, and no such luck.
What are my options? My laptop is no longer under warranty, though I do have my service tag.
I have bought a new inspiron 15 3521 & after going through the community i think i have made a mistake of buying this particular model. Still trying to resolve my Bluetooth problem. I have installed dual booting Windows 7 & 8 also
