Dec 1, 2014I have recently noticed a bright tiny white spot on my dell 3521 laptop screen. It is not at least 06 months since I bought it. I wiped off the screen but still it remains.

Mar 10, 2013I am having an issue with the screen of my laptop. had bought the laptop jus 3 days back.. :( the problem I am facing is that... once I close my lid and open in in a few seconds, it still gives me a blck scree which does not respond. however If the let the lid be closed for a longer period life 10 sec it works normally. Previously today I experienced an other issue, that was, once I closed the lid and opened it back, it gave me a black screen with one bright spot. bt this was gone after pressing the power button a few times.

Mar 19, 2013I have a XPS L702X, purchased it last year at the beginning of the summer. After a couple of weeks of use, the colors would change on the screen and the screen would start flickering. The dell people did a remote assistance and updated the bios and graphics software. It stopped for a little while. Then the colors would just change but not flickering yet. Then it started all over again, but now it would flash and lock up my keyboard, but I could still control the mouse with an external one. So I got a live CD to see if that works and it runs, but the screen still flashes white and gets static. I can see the desktop and move the mouse but it eventually turns all white and static comes through the speakers. Now the computer will not even turn on at times, it sounds like it is booting up, but then just shuts off.
I have also tried doing a system restore but it will not stay on long enough to go through the process, this last time it shut down completely before even finishing.
I have also tried using an external monitor and it will go through until the screen starts flickering.

Sep 25, 2011Yesterday I have noticed a problem with the display in my X220 (type 4290-W1B). There is a small, white spot (about 1 mm diameter), clearly visible on the screen. It doesn't look like a normal bad pixel, but like a problem with the background light, or something. It is not visible when black color is displayed. The laptop was bought about 3 months ago and everything was OK until yesterday.
I have attached some pictures of this dot, but it is difficult to capture it with the camera (it is much more visible in real). I have marked the spot (it is in the middle of the circle). The pics are in high resolution so you can zoom in.
What should I do now? I have heard , that the Lenovo bad pixel policy is 3 bad pixel per display...

Oct 15, 2009We replaced the motherboard. Then it would start up but then shut back down. Swapped out the video card on a hunch, then we got a white screen with an odd color line through it periodically.
We can plug it into another monitor and it works fine so we're getting output.
Would this mean my screen is shot? If so, are there other models that will have compatible screens (17" XPS, for example)

Apr 28, 2013My dell laptop worked perfectly for around 6 months. After that i have had to use my TV as a monitor via HDMI. Basically on start up the screen goes black and slowly turns to white with multi-coloured lines running vertically down it. It first started to play around not long after i had bought it, the screen would freeze and seem to slowly become faded and lose colour but if i flipped the screen up and down a little it would work fine again but after abut a month of being able to jiggle it back to a working state it completely went. I have spoken to a local PC reapir shop who have quoted me around £150-175 to fix this.
I have researched this problem thoroughly on the internet to find that this particular model is prone to issues like mine and others in regards to its screen. Using my TV as a monitor, the visuals are all fine.
I have downloaded the latest drivers for literally everything. Bios, Graphics... You name it, I have tried it in multiple attempts to try and fix this.
My laptop is no longer under warranty but this issue seems to affect a lot of this particular model.

Apr 30, 2013I have a dell M5010 laptop. There was a problem with the screen of my laptop (diagonal lines coming when i opened "my computer" window) for which the dell support replaced my screen while my laptop was under warranty. The screen was replaced in the month of february 2013 and my warranty expired on 3rd of March 2013. Now after two months of my screen replacement i am experiencing white outs which is quite random and happens at start up as well as while i am working on my laptop. After the white screen remains for a few seconds the screen comes back with vertical line transition.
This particular model of dell had lots of problem from the very beginning and had been a sort of bad luck for me. At first the hard disk along with optical drive was replaced and then the screen. And now the screen still after replacement is showing new defects.

seems to happen when i'm in any application. it'll kick me out and i'll have a white screen with blue or purple vertical lines. bought new in June of this year and it's been happening almost daily for the past 3 months.
2 days ago, i finally decided to reinstall windows XP. i did this and i still have the problem and it seems to have gotten worse. just today i got the error 4 times! and the last time i just got a solid blue screen. it's never happened this often before.
i called dell tech support. they seem to think it's bad ram so they're sending me new ram to try out. it's not the BSOD... it just mostly the white w/ stripes screen or, like the last time, a solid blue screen... no text.

Dec 6, 2010Suddenly today a one-inch wide white vertical stripe appeared down the screen of my Inspiron 9400 laptop, about a sixth of the way into the screen from the left side. There is simply no image in this space, regardless of the application. This includes Windows XP from boot-up onwards. The initial screen on start-up is not affected, however, which leads me to believe this is a software problem, rather than a hardware problem.
I have had my Inspiron for 4 1/2 years with no problems until today. How to correct this.

I can still navigate just fine but there is clearly something wrong here. I've plugged it into my hdmi's port on my tv and the image is just fine. Is it a wiring problem maybe? Mar 25, 2013I recent;y installed a version of windows on my Dell Laptop, Inspiron 6000. I worked for a week or two then when I turned it on a couple days ago, it won't go pass the black screen with the blinking white line. A user some where on this site on an other post that had similar problems said that it to re-install and delete the existing partition and create another one with 120GB. I did but when creating another partition, I tried to type in the 122880 MB (122880MB = 120GB), and upon pressing ENTER, the numbers 122880 goes back to the number of MB of the partition disk space I had previously. I hope this all make sense. I do not have the money to buy another laptop. I have a Windows XP CD, but not the original. The laptop worked fine before with this version.
To fix the blinking line on the start-up black screen, all I need to do is to re-install windows XP and change the partition to 120GB. But every time I try to change the number of MB, it doesn't work but reverts back to the original number. Is there another way to fix the blinking-white-line-on-the-start-up-screen?
Also, I tried to use the repair control...doesn't work.
