I have a inspiron 3520 laptop. A little over a year old. Lately my screen has been going white with black lines and swirls going through it. Sometimes it will clear right up and sometimes I have to restart the computer. I have tried installing My Dell Client but it will not install.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI inadvertently upgraded to Windows 8.1 which I had been trying to avoid doing and don't know how it happened as I had continually knocked back prompts to upgrade. I originally did upgrade to 8.1 last year and had such major graphics issues I eventually restored factory settings to get back to Windows 8 which solved all the issues. Now the same problems are happening i.e. breaking up of the screen with loads of horizontal lines running across it.
I downloaded all the updated drivers I could from the Dell site but the graphics driver and video driver would not work and I kept getting the message that the laptop was not compatible with the downloads. It is a Dell Inspiron 3520 and the recommended drivers just will not install. I don't want to have to go through all the hassle of restoring factory settings again. I am sure the problem is with these 2 drivers mainly the NDJN4 video driver.
it's running WinXP, AMD dual core, 1 gig ram, 120 gb hd...
seems to happen when i'm in any application. it'll kick me out and i'll have a white screen with blue or purple vertical lines. bought new in June of this year and it's been happening almost daily for the past 3 months.
2 days ago, i finally decided to reinstall windows XP. i did this and i still have the problem and it seems to have gotten worse. just today i got the error 4 times! and the last time i just got a solid blue screen. it's never happened this often before.
i called dell tech support. they seem to think it's bad ram so they're sending me new ram to try out. it's not the BSOD... it just mostly the white w/ stripes screen or, like the last time, a solid blue screen... no text.
My screen recently started getting a lot of faded white lines going horizontal and vertical across my screen causing the screen to blur/disorientated my screen. I can still navigate just fine but there is clearly something wrong here. I've plugged it into my hdmi's port on my tv and the image is just fine. Is it a wiring problem maybe? The lines are getting slightly more extreme and a little more colored... They lines of windows extend around the border all the way to the end if the screen.

I cannot use it in online chat with students because now the cursor is moving to other lines of text and inserting my typing. I uninstalled the touchpad driver as that seems to be something recommended here. I tried to reinstall from the Dell website and it failed. So now I not only have an awful computer but a useless one. I'm regretting the Dell decision after just a week.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a screen problem on my Laptop, on start-up it shows a white screen with black lines (Picture below) only happens once every 5-10 start-ups. Only happens for 5-10 Secs & sorts itself out before it boots up.
Other time it happens is when I'm using the internet, the screen just sticks, but then when I move the screen, it stops.

I have a pavilion dv6, working perfectly till I closed the lid ( probably a bit too hard :/ ) and then when I opened the lid these vertical white, red and green lines are there. And a black stripe at the bottom of the display. Also horizontal grey bars covering the start button completely.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 1 year old dell inspiron 5520 and about a month or two back, the display started showing white lines at the top and bottom. One day, it stopped working and we gave it to this tech guy. He replaced the motherboard and battery(The laptop worked but was noticeably slower). The white lines still existed and the screen started jumping up and down. Changing the refresh rate worked temporarily. And then my mother gave it to the tech guy again. She got suspicious of him and asked him to return it. And he did but now, the laptop display won't boot and there's the 8 beeps. I connected the laptop to our properly working PC monitor to see if it was the laptop's display's fault. But, it still gives 8 beeps and the monitor shows a blank black screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am operating a Dell Inspiron 3520 and have been having trouble with the machine powering down and becoming unresponsive with screen tilt (not closure). The computer appears to be functioning normally until I tilt the screen forward, at which time the screen goes black and all lights indicating power turn off, as if the machine has powered down. I cannot make the machine power on again for some time until I have taken the battery out, put it back, and pressed the power button several times. This problem has occurred more frequently in recent days and I currently cannot turn the machine on to troubleshoot.
My fear is a dysfunction in the sleep trigger within the screen/lid closure system.
Have Inspiron 3520 with W8 - daughter has infected it via Minecraft update. Original issue was dark screen and beeping, 8 at a time. Put on a external monitor and am going through the long process of digging out the bugs with anti-virus and malware removal programs.
Question is this - how can I stop the infernal beeping? It starts up if I insert the power cord or disconnect/connect the external monitor. Is there any way to silence it?
I fitted a new LCD panel to an Inspiron 3520. Upon boot, it showed the Dell logo, then went all white and then displayed a grid made up of RGB pixels across the screen. I checked the panel was connected properly and the tried to reboot but now the screen doesn't power up at all. The laptop also now plays 4 beeps while trying to boot. I've tried connecting an external monitor, but it also does not display anything an plays the 4 beeps.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy dell Inspiron E1705 has been giving me these strange horizontal / angular lines and dots on my screen with different characters on the text as well whenever I boot up.
Have installed latest nvidia drivers too. I actually reformatted the system and installed all the drivers. For a week system worked fine and then started showing the display abnormality.
Again re-installed the OS after re-formatting. When the display gets impacted even portion of the screen appears in different color. This is not limited to any one part of the screen .....
A number of weeks ago my laptop began to show vertical white lines on the screen, it has gradually gotten worse and now it is unusable. I have fallen outside warranty (couple of months). I have not dropped the machine, nor allowed any liquid near the machine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a XPS L702X, purchased it last year at the beginning of the summer. After a couple of weeks of use, the colors would change on the screen and the screen would start flickering. The dell people did a remote assistance and updated the bios and graphics software. It stopped for a little while. Then the colors would just change but not flickering yet. Then it started all over again, but now it would flash and lock up my keyboard, but I could still control the mouse with an external one. So I got a live CD to see if that works and it runs, but the screen still flashes white and gets static. I can see the desktop and move the mouse but it eventually turns all white and static comes through the speakers. Now the computer will not even turn on at times, it sounds like it is booting up, but then just shuts off.
I have also tried doing a system restore but it will not stay on long enough to go through the process, this last time it shut down completely before even finishing.
I have also tried using an external monitor and it will go through until the screen starts flickering.
I have an Inspiron 15 Intel N5040 I purchased 10 months ago. I am noticing that on photographs (like my screensaver background) there are fuzzy lines across the screen kind of like straight sunrays at an angle. The problem is, my prior Inspiron had the same problem after about 16 months and the end result was an unusable laptop because the screen went out completely.

We can plug it into another monitor and it works fine so we're getting output.
Would this mean my screen is shot? If so, are there other models that will have compatible screens (17" XPS, for example)
My dell laptop worked perfectly for around 6 months. After that i have had to use my TV as a monitor via HDMI. Basically on start up the screen goes black and slowly turns to white with multi-coloured lines running vertically down it. It first started to play around not long after i had bought it, the screen would freeze and seem to slowly become faded and lose colour but if i flipped the screen up and down a little it would work fine again but after abut a month of being able to jiggle it back to a working state it completely went. I have spoken to a local PC reapir shop who have quoted me around £150-175 to fix this.
I have researched this problem thoroughly on the internet to find that this particular model is prone to issues like mine and others in regards to its screen. Using my TV as a monitor, the visuals are all fine.
I have downloaded the latest drivers for literally everything. Bios, Graphics... You name it, I have tried it in multiple attempts to try and fix this.
My laptop is no longer under warranty but this issue seems to affect a lot of this particular model.
I have a dell M5010 laptop. There was a problem with the screen of my laptop (diagonal lines coming when i opened "my computer" window) for which the dell support replaced my screen while my laptop was under warranty. The screen was replaced in the month of february 2013 and my warranty expired on 3rd of March 2013. Now after two months of my screen replacement i am experiencing white outs which is quite random and happens at start up as well as while i am working on my laptop. After the white screen remains for a few seconds the screen comes back with vertical line transition.
This particular model of dell had lots of problem from the very beginning and had been a sort of bad luck for me. At first the hard disk along with optical drive was replaced and then the screen. And now the screen still after replacement is showing new defects.
I seem to have a problem as soon as i unplug my charging laptop. It seems to freeze and screen goes into a frenzy of lines and running bars. I have a dell 1545 and its vital .....

I would like to know if it is possible to fix it without changing the screen, mainly because it is close to impossible finding a WSXGA screen in the country where I am staying now.
Suddenly today a one-inch wide white vertical stripe appeared down the screen of my Inspiron 9400 laptop, about a sixth of the way into the screen from the left side. There is simply no image in this space, regardless of the application. This includes Windows XP from boot-up onwards. The initial screen on start-up is not affected, however, which leads me to believe this is a software problem, rather than a hardware problem.
I have had my Inspiron for 4 1/2 years with no problems until today. How to correct this.

I also noticed that the bottom left of the screen disattached, but I was able to put it back in. I understand that 8 beeps mean LCD failure. I've tried to do the test run by pressing "D" but nothing shows up, only a white screen.

I tried to use the last known good configuration and it started out fine but I got the black screen again. I can't go into the safe mode, it only goes as far as loading the files. I tried booting from the cd to do a repair but that options says there are no problems. I attached an external monitor and I get the same black screen with the white cursor. I am running Vista Home as my operating system.
