I have an Inspiron 15 Intel N5040 I purchased 10 months ago. I am noticing that on photographs (like my screensaver background) there are fuzzy lines across the screen kind of like straight sunrays at an angle. The problem is, my prior Inspiron had the same problem after about 16 months and the end result was an unusable laptop because the screen went out completely.
View 3 RepliesMy screen recently started getting a lot of faded white lines going horizontal and vertical across my screen causing the screen to blur/disorientated my screen. I can still navigate just fine but there is clearly something wrong here. I've plugged it into my hdmi's port on my tv and the image is just fine. Is it a wiring problem maybe? The lines are getting slightly more extreme and a little more colored... They lines of windows extend around the border all the way to the end if the screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe replaced the motherboard. Then it would start up but then shut back down. Swapped out the video card on a hunch, then we got a white screen with an odd color line through it periodically.
We can plug it into another monitor and it works fine so we're getting output.
Would this mean my screen is shot? If so, are there other models that will have compatible screens (17" XPS, for example)

Its only 1 month old.since 2days ago everytime i try to turn it on all i get is a blank screen with audio of 7 beeps a pause then 7 more and so on. I have read a few posts about taking the battery out and pressing the power button for 30 secs and also trying with just the ac power, I don't think this works for my problem. The power and battery lights comes on and the disk holder flashes. So my problem is I TURN ON MY LAPTOP AND THE SCREEN IS BLANK,I HEAR 7 BEEPS ETC.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040) and currently having problems with it. I was watching something this morning and suddenly the screen turned green and then shut off. It turns on but the screen refuses to. I first expected that the screen is just unplugged inside the computer so I tried to hook it up to my TV via Hdmi and oddly it didn't do anything.I took it all apart disconnecting everything and then reconnecting everything. Everything seemed to be in good shape. No signs of shorts. Then after letting it run I noticed it beep 4 times. According to Dell 4 beeps mean "Read/Write error." I don't know if they meant the ram or hdd so I tried isolating both sticks of ram and no difference. I tried putting in two different hdds, nothing different. Even if they were I don't know why the screen wouldn't turn on and the bios wouldn't try to load. I suspect that the gpu is just fried. Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040), Intel i3, 8 gb of ram. Windows 7.

I love it, but i think there is a problem with my screen or graphics card. when i first started up windows i saw that the screen was fuzzy looking, (like little lines running through the screen.) and i thought it wasn't a big deal, but everyday i keep thinking about it and its getting irritating.
i have a decent graphics card a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570, but i don't know if i have to change around the settings to get rid of this fuzzy looking screen. i feel that it should look crystal clear looking.
also when i go to scroll down a page or move things around the fuzziness gets worse then when i stop moving the page or w.e it goes back regular fuzziness screen.
can someone help me out! I'm a newbie at computers and really want to solve this problem, is there some kind of setting i have to change?
My Dell Inspiron 3520 screen goes grey with horizontal lines during use. It reminds me of an old TV except the lines do not scroll. It started after I upgraded from 8 to 8.1.

This has happened twice recently, I'll be using the laptop, just browsing the net, photoshop, music etc. I don't play any games so wouldn't say the gpu (if that's what the problem is) has ever been under massive load.
I try to keep an eye on the temps and have never noticed them be excessively hot at any time.
It happened again today, so I ran just about every dell diagnostic test that you can use when you first start the laptop and every test passed.
My inspirion q15r will not turn on it takes atleast 20 attempts after i left it charging or even when its not the power LED stays on but the screen does load up or anything the LED next to it comes on for a few seconds but goes striaght off...

seems to happen when i'm in any application. it'll kick me out and i'll have a white screen with blue or purple vertical lines. bought new in June of this year and it's been happening almost daily for the past 3 months.
2 days ago, i finally decided to reinstall windows XP. i did this and i still have the problem and it seems to have gotten worse. just today i got the error 4 times! and the last time i just got a solid blue screen. it's never happened this often before.
i called dell tech support. they seem to think it's bad ram so they're sending me new ram to try out. it's not the BSOD... it just mostly the white w/ stripes screen or, like the last time, a solid blue screen... no text.
My dell Inspiron E1705 has been giving me these strange horizontal / angular lines and dots on my screen with different characters on the text as well whenever I boot up.
Have installed latest nvidia drivers too. I actually reformatted the system and installed all the drivers. For a week system worked fine and then started showing the display abnormality.
Again re-installed the OS after re-formatting. When the display gets impacted even portion of the screen appears in different color. This is not limited to any one part of the screen .....
A number of weeks ago my laptop began to show vertical white lines on the screen, it has gradually gotten worse and now it is unusable. I have fallen outside warranty (couple of months). I have not dropped the machine, nor allowed any liquid near the machine.

On startup the "acer" screen and windows symbol display perfectly, but once it boots into windows, the screen looks fuzzy, with everything ghosted/ duplicated. It works fine on an external monitor. I own a M6700 and have had a few problems with it so Dell upgraded me to an M6800. Problem is that my M6700 had an IPS screen and this feature is no longer available with the M6800 so I reluctantly opted for the matt 1920x1080. I currently have both machines while I transfer data etc so I did some comparison photos comparing the screen quality.M6800 on the LEFT (matt standard) and the M6700 on the RIGHT (IPS)I am really disappointed with the quality of the M6800 screen (matt 1920 x 1080). I can't believe this standard is acceptable.
I mean this is a high spec laptop and Dell offer a screen this bad? The viewing angle is almost unusable. Left to right angle - not so bad, but up and down is so bad that I have to constantly move my head up and down to get an understanding of the colours on my screen. Everything thing is washed out and lacks vibrancy with a blue tinge through it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI inadvertently upgraded to Windows 8.1 which I had been trying to avoid doing and don't know how it happened as I had continually knocked back prompts to upgrade. I originally did upgrade to 8.1 last year and had such major graphics issues I eventually restored factory settings to get back to Windows 8 which solved all the issues. Now the same problems are happening i.e. breaking up of the screen with loads of horizontal lines running across it.
I downloaded all the updated drivers I could from the Dell site but the graphics driver and video driver would not work and I kept getting the message that the laptop was not compatible with the downloads. It is a Dell Inspiron 3520 and the recommended drivers just will not install. I don't want to have to go through all the hassle of restoring factory settings again. I am sure the problem is with these 2 drivers mainly the NDJN4 video driver.
I have just bought my G62 laptop and have pretty much no complaint except the backspace's bounce seems to be a bit off and a little loud. However, I seem to notice this weird dimming issue when I set my laptop to either Power Saver or HP Recommended mode. When I go from the internet browser to the desktop and wait like 3 seconds, the screen seem to dim just a tiny bit. Sometimes it dims twice. Most noticeable when using the lowest brightness level. It's really bothering me, does anybody know what it is? It's not the auto-dim feature, because it dims in like 3 second. It just flickers a little bit.
Also, when I move a browser or window up and down, I can see this fuzziness on the outline of the window, including the outline of the search bar. I updated the display adapters, I have Intel HD Graphics display adapters.

Okay so i probaly have the weirdest problem ever with this laptop, so the issue started when the display stopped working properly and would only work at a certain angle or when u would apply slight pressure on a certain part of the screen, faulty monitor correct?wrong. When i uninstalled the intel gpu drivers and reverted back to the standard microsoft display adapter all these problems disappeared, screen would work at all angles and the display would have no issues, so that sums out the possibility of the monitor being faulty. The display starts having these issues everytime the intel display drivers are installed, it just blows my mind how this is even a thing. The screen flickers twice and turns off after windows is done booting when the intel drivers are installed and works perfectly without them.

When i start my laptop it loads like it was before( it says big DELL and Inspiron,then progress bar and F2 Setup and F12 Boot options). After that loads i see this thing flashing _ . And then red text comes up and says something like " Your laptop was blocked because bla bla bla" and after that red text this thing _ flashing. Keyboard is blocked, nothing happens when i try to connect USB or my mouse. The only thing i can do on my laptop now is press F2 or F12 while Dell loads, before that red thing.
