Dec 26, 2008I bought an Acer 5720 about a month ago and it was working well until yesterday.When I turned it on the screen was fuzzy/blurred, I couldn't read the writing and it was un-usable.

Acer Aspire V5-471 :: Screen Fuzzy After Reinstall
Oct 15, 2014The display on my laptop was working fine. I have reinstalled windows 8 64x on my v5-471. On startup the "acer" screen and windows symbol display perfectly, but once it boots into windows, the screen looks fuzzy, with everything ghosted/ duplicated. It works fine on an external monitor. I have installed the intel drivers manually from their website and tried uninstalling them and letting windows find the new driver itself, to no avail.

Dell :: Screen Is Fuzzy, Not Clear Looking?
Jan 22, 2010I received my new dell studio about 2 weeks ago. I love it, but i think there is a problem with my screen or graphics card. when i first started up windows i saw that the screen was fuzzy looking, (like little lines running through the screen.) and i thought it wasn't a big deal, but everyday i keep thinking about it and its getting irritating.
i have a decent graphics card a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570, but i don't know if i have to change around the settings to get rid of this fuzzy looking screen. i feel that it should look crystal clear looking.
also when i go to scroll down a page or move things around the fuzziness gets worse then when i stop moving the page or w.e it goes back regular fuzziness screen.
can someone help me out! I'm a newbie at computers and really want to solve this problem, is there some kind of setting i have to change?

Jan 9, 2010My Dell is out of warranty sadly.
This has happened twice recently, I'll be using the laptop, just browsing the net, photoshop, music etc. I don't play any games so wouldn't say the gpu (if that's what the problem is) has ever been under massive load.
I try to keep an eye on the temps and have never noticed them be excessively hot at any time.
It happened again today, so I ran just about every dell diagnostic test that you can use when you first start the laptop and every test passed.

May 3, 2010I have just bought my G62 laptop and have pretty much no complaint except the backspace's bounce seems to be a bit off and a little loud. However, I seem to notice this weird dimming issue when I set my laptop to either Power Saver or HP Recommended mode. When I go from the internet browser to the desktop and wait like 3 seconds, the screen seem to dim just a tiny bit. Sometimes it dims twice. Most noticeable when using the lowest brightness level. It's really bothering me, does anybody know what it is? It's not the auto-dim feature, because it dims in like 3 second. It just flickers a little bit.
Also, when I move a browser or window up and down, I can see this fuzziness on the outline of the window, including the outline of the search bar. I updated the display adapters, I have Intel HD Graphics display adapters.

I am noticing that on photographs (like my screensaver background) there are fuzzy lines across the screen kind of like straight sunrays at an angle. The problem is, my prior Inspiron had the same problem after about 16 months and the end result was an unusable laptop because the screen went out completely.

Apr 24, 2013When I open the lid to the laptop and hit the power button, the 3 buttons on the top of the keyboard cycle through and the power comes on, but the only thing that happens next is the screen turns on with a slight brightness, but it doesn't load any further. It doesn't even load to the Dell logo. If I tap the power button again, all lights and monitor goes off with a beep noise.
I have taken the battery out, unplugged the power cord and held the power button for over 15 seconds. This did not do anything.

Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 :: Blank Screen Just After Logo Pops Up
Mar 27, 2013Ok, so I have this laptop (17R 5720) that I got in November. Um every time I turn it on, I get a blank screen just after the dell logo pops up.
I've tried taking out the battery and unplugging the adapter and holding the power button for 30 seconds and putting the battery back in. I've tried "D" + power, tried Fn + Power, tried F2 to get to the BIOS window, and I've tried F12 (which only got me to the Boot menu). Still nothing happens.
Don't know what else I can do. It looks like I only got limited access to technical support so I hope it's nothing major that I have to deal with.

Feb 3, 2013Blue screen since I bought this laptop with windows 8 OS (3 months):
I already ran:
- Intel® Driver Update Utility
-Repair-install the operating system (Original Dell Image) for 2times
- All windows updates done
- Update the DELL BIOS version
- Ran DELL PC Check Up – Hardware Diagnostics
- Ran anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware, etc.
- Ran HW monitor to check temperatures, all normal
- Ran Advanced SystemCare 6 for windows optimization and registry fix.
… and the the blue screens didn’t stop!!!. Usually I get one for day.
Normally I get this blue screens even when laptop is notbeing run any program. By the details look that is related with an app. But theolder critical events sometimes don’t give so many details.
This laptop a bad historical. In less than 3 months alreadyhad two times the hard-disk replaced.
Dell Inspiron 5720 :: Shows Logo Then Black Screen
Mar 18, 2013My Inspiron 17R 5720 laptop (which came with windows 8) was working fine yesterday but whenever I try to turn it on today it shows the Dell logo briefly then goes to a black screen and remains like that. The F12 key works, but I can't change any settings as it will only let me highlight the diagnostics option. I've run diagnostics and recieved no error reports. Neither the F2 or F8 keys work, so I can't access BIOS or start in safe mode. I've tried removing the battery and unplugging the power.

Jan 29, 2013A couple hours ago I updated my BIOS from A13 to A14. The firmware update took successfully and everything was fine, I THOUGHT.
Now, every single time (not exaggerating) that I restart my computer the Dell Circular logo pops up for maybe half a sec, and screen goes blank. Lights on laptop do it's thing, I hear the dvd-rom set itself like usual but like I said, no loading ring under the Dell logo appears, the screen just goes blank. All I have to do each time is simply push the power button till computer turns off, and turn it on again. The second time around it works completely normal and loads into Windows.
This happens every time I do a restart from windows, a restart from BIOS settings, or if I turn the computer on after it's been off for a couple minutes. The Dell circular logo appears for maybe half a sec, than screen goes blank, I wait forever and it does nothing but all I have to do each time is push the power button, let pc turn off, and push power button again and it works until the next system restart and it does it all over again.
Won't be too much of a problem but it's aggravating that every time I restart the computer I just know i'm going to have to wait for the blank screen and push the power button to turn it off and back on.
All drivers were fully updated before I performed the BIOS firmware update from A13 to A14. Update took successfully.
I unplugged laptop, and took out battery for a little while to clear my RAM, but that did not fix the problem.
I always loaded BIOS setting defaults, still have the problem.
I have no CD/DVD in the ROM, nor do I have any USB devices, memory cards, or blue tooth device hooked to the computer.
Inspiron 5720 (all drivers updated)
BIOS Version A14
WIN 8 64-bit (fully updated)
CPU is i5 3210m

Nov 13, 2014Tried (and sometimes successful) to connect HDTV to laptop, Inspiron 5720. Now laptop screen does not display (goes black) without an external monitor physically attached. Tried using Projects and clicking on single laptop display, but if I disconnect the external monitor, the laptop screen just goes black. Not very portable if I have to lug around a second display.

Jul 26, 2009I've an Aspire 5720-602G16Mi which has no installed bluetooth module, but has the button fitted in the keyboard (comes up with "NO BLUETOOTH DEVICE"). I've seen all the threads on this and obtained the correct module (and driver if required) and know where on the motherboard to fit it - near the front of the laptop - probably socket BT1, so here's the problem!
I can't get the bottom off the case to access the right spot! :-(
I've taken out the battery, removed the 2 access plates - (I know how to remove the keyboard and the hard drive if neccessary) -BUT even when I've then taken out ALL of the visible screws I can't get the bottom of the case off.
AM I MISSING SOMETHING?
I realise there are "clips" all round the base but I also know that it's a fragile plastic so I don't want to force anything.
A step by step guide or a link to an existing one would be useful ( there may be one here but I can't find it)

Acer Aspire 5720 :: 2007 Won't Start At All
Nov 5, 2014I have aspire 5720 bought in 2007. It stopped suddenly. On pressing power button start up light comes on which stays about 5 sec and switches off. Tried with and without battery but same. Fan starts and in a se laptop is off. I have removed HDD and put it back and same to ram. Also did power reset by holding on power button for a minute without battery plugged in but no luck.

Jul 21, 2009I just did a 'restore to factory default' on my Acer Travelmate 5720-6754 laptop by pressing ALT+F10 during the bootup to get to the eRecovery and restored the computer to factory default.
There is a partition that is 30gb + 30gb which makes both pretty darn small. Is there a way I can merge these two hard drives? My only fear is that there are a bunch of folders on the secondary (acerdata d drive with names like 80bbadfe5760 and in these folders are stuff like amd64, malicious software removal from microsoft, and even a hidden folder called msdownld.tmp.
Also, from what I understand the eRecovery files themselves are on a hidden partition...is that 'hidden partition' this 'acerdata' drive? If i somehow remove the partition, where do the files on this second drive go? If i perform an eRecovery again, will it reform the partition, or will it not even be able to perform a recovery due to the missing files?
Acer :: Aspire 5720 No Longer Receiving Power
Sep 29, 2009whether the AC power adaptor itself should show an LED light on while it is plugged into the power (and not just when it is charging/connected to the laptop too)?
My Dad has come over here on holiday with an Acer Aspire 5720 Model ICL50. It had been working fine, however this morning we started getting the low battery warning sound, despite the power cable being plugged in. We have taken plugs in and out, taken the battery out etc, but the laptop will show no sign of receiving more power via the adaptor.
I figure its either one of two things - either the adaptor has died, or there is an issue with the power connector in the back of the laptop itself, perhaps it got knocked and damaged internally or something.
Acer :: Travelmate 5720 Crashing When Playing Video
Aug 9, 2008Firstly I know very little on thsi kind of stuff so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
I've had my travelmate 5720 for about 4 months, and for as long as I have had it, it crashes when I play any kind of video. Not straight away, it may be after 2 minutes or after an hour. But if I'm playing a movie, its almost guaranteed to crash to a blue screen, and the system reboots. Its too random to try recreate the problem instantly, other than just playing a movie and...waiting.
Acer :: Aspire 5720- Keyboard Layout Messed Up
Apr 16, 2010I restored my Acer Aspire 5720 laptop using the factory restore DVD . I used to be able to press Fn+MJKLUIO78, or Fn+9 to type the numbers 012345678, or 9 while holding the Fn key.
After I finished restore the laptop to the factory image, the Fn+M...9 keys didn't work anymore.
Instead of mapping the keys to 0..9, it mapped the keys to Home, Up, PgUp, Left, Right, End, Down, and PgDn.
So for example, if I press Fn+L, instead of "3", it gave me "PgDn". It was giving me "3" before I restored the factory image.
So recap, I used to be able to hold Fn and I could type the "blue" letters printed on the keyboard.
I don't think this is Vista problem because I boot the laptop to DOS, the keyboard mapping is the same.
I think when I press Alt-F10 to run the recovery, I must have pressed some other hidden key sequence to switch the keyboard profile by accident.
Acer :: 9600m GT Installed On Aspire 5720 But Driver = No Install
Apr 11, 2010I have the 9600m GT out of a 8930g installed in my Aspire 5720 laptop but every nvidia driver that I try to install says that the hardware is not compatible with the driver or some crap.
Am I out of luck with this card or is there a way to force install a driver...or is there a better driver to install?
I've tried the latest 197.16, 186.03 drivers from nvidia. Even from laptopvideo2go...no dice.

Dell :: 14z 900p 1600x900 Is Fuzzy And Not Clear
Aug 12, 2009I have been using my 14z for the past week. The main problem I have with it is that the 1600x900 resolution on a 14" screen is too difficult to see for me.
I have tried to change the resolution setting by choosing the defaults and by creating custom resolutions but any resolution other than 1600x900 is fuzzy and not clear.
Is there something I'm missing? Any suggestions?
Sony :: AWusing External Monitor Is Fuzzy
Aug 5, 2009I am trying to use an extra monitor at work (in extended desktop mode, not clone mode) so that I can use by the laptop's display and the extra external display.
The external monitor is 24" with native resolution of 1920x1200. It works great when hooked to my desktop or other machines.
When I hook it to the laptop, it becomes fuzzy and slightly blurry. Not horribly, but enough to hurt your eyes and make you not want to use it. Anyone had this problem? I've tried several different cables to eliminate that as an issue, but like i said - it works fine when hooked to my desktop.
