whether the AC power adaptor itself should show an LED light on while it is plugged into the power (and not just when it is charging/connected to the laptop too)?
My Dad has come over here on holiday with an Acer Aspire 5720 Model ICL50. It had been working fine, however this morning we started getting the low battery warning sound, despite the power cable being plugged in. We have taken plugs in and out, taken the battery out etc, but the laptop will show no sign of receiving more power via the adaptor.
I figure its either one of two things - either the adaptor has died, or there is an issue with the power connector in the back of the laptop itself, perhaps it got knocked and damaged internally or something.
I've an Aspire 5720-602G16Mi which has no installed bluetooth module, but has the button fitted in the keyboard (comes up with "NO BLUETOOTH DEVICE"). I've seen all the threads on this and obtained the correct module (and driver if required) and know where on the motherboard to fit it - near the front of the laptop - probably socket BT1, so here's the problem!
I can't get the bottom off the case to access the right spot! :-(
I've taken out the battery, removed the 2 access plates - (I know how to remove the keyboard and the hard drive if neccessary) -BUT even when I've then taken out ALL of the visible screws I can't get the bottom of the case off.
AM I MISSING SOMETHING?
I realise there are "clips" all round the base but I also know that it's a fragile plastic so I don't want to force anything.
A step by step guide or a link to an existing one would be useful ( there may be one here but I can't find it)
i would like to know the significance of the second set of numbers on this computer....acer aspire 5720-4230. what is the 4230? im thinking of getting this laptop for my college kid. ive found some pretty low priced ones. im more concerned with dependability than looks or speed.
here are the specs on it:

I have aspire 5720 bought in 2007. It stopped suddenly. On pressing power button start up light comes on which stays about 5 sec and switches off. Tried with and without battery but same. Fan starts and in a se laptop is off. I have removed HDD and put it back and same to ram. Also did power reset by holding on power button for a minute without battery plugged in but no luck.
I restored my Acer Aspire 5720 laptop using the factory restore DVD . I used to be able to press Fn+MJKLUIO78, or Fn+9 to type the numbers 012345678, or 9 while holding the Fn key.
After I finished restore the laptop to the factory image, the Fn+M...9 keys didn't work anymore.
Instead of mapping the keys to 0..9, it mapped the keys to Home, Up, PgUp, Left, Right, End, Down, and PgDn.
So for example, if I press Fn+L, instead of "3", it gave me "PgDn". It was giving me "3" before I restored the factory image.
So recap, I used to be able to hold Fn and I could type the "blue" letters printed on the keyboard.
I don't think this is Vista problem because I boot the laptop to DOS, the keyboard mapping is the same.
I think when I press Alt-F10 to run the recovery, I must have pressed some other hidden key sequence to switch the keyboard profile by accident.
I have the 9600m GT out of a 8930g installed in my Aspire 5720 laptop but every nvidia driver that I try to install says that the hardware is not compatible with the driver or some crap.
Am I out of luck with this card or is there a way to force install a driver...or is there a better driver to install?
I've tried the latest 197.16, 186.03 drivers from nvidia. Even from laptopvideo2go...no dice.
i can no longer acess the internet via WIFI. The WIFI symbol is no longer showing. I can only acess internet via the cable line. I had Windows 8 pro installed on the system just fter i bought it and since then there is no WIFI and cannot detect any WIFI with the computer . I have model Aspire E1 - 572 laptop
All I have just recently re-installed windows 8.1 to my Acer Aspire ES1-711-C231 laptop, the touchpad was working fine before but since the re-install it is no longer recognised/detected by windows 8.1. I have download the device driver from the support page (Elantech touchpad) but still no joy.

I have an acer M3 581T which I bought about a year ago. Now, windows crashed and said there was a file missing. I am no longer able to boot up the system, I've tried the erecovery (alt f10) but it just proceeds and says it's not able to boot. I have no recovery cd/usb at hand. It is of my understanding that this ultrabook has two harddrives. One SSD on which the operating system is installed and one HDD with the other files on.What do I do to make it work again? I do not care if all my files are lost.
I have an Aspire 6930 that suddenly died and will not power on. The LED power button was dark and unresponsive. I performed a power reset and the blue light on the power button came back on until I pressed the button to try to restart the laptop. When I did that, the blue LED immediately went dark and stayed that way until I did another power reset. It never gets to the point of anything powering on. Is it a problem with the battery or it the laptop toast?
This is a real bummer since I just replaced the hard drive a few weeks ago and replaced Windows Vista with Linux Mint (which btw is blazing fast compared to Vista).
Acer 5253 - Will not power on, battery or on AC power. Have tried all the suggested solutions but none have worked. Is it possible to get maintenace instructions (disassembly, where certain items are located, etc)?
I bought an Acer 5720 about a month ago and it was working well until yesterday. When I turned it on the screen was fuzzy/blurred, I couldn't read the writing and it was un-usable.
I just did a 'restore to factory default' on my Acer Travelmate 5720-6754 laptop by pressing ALT+F10 during the bootup to get to the eRecovery and restored the computer to factory default.
There is a partition that is 30gb + 30gb which makes both pretty darn small. Is there a way I can merge these two hard drives? My only fear is that there are a bunch of folders on the secondary (acerdata d drive with names like 80bbadfe5760 and in these folders are stuff like amd64, malicious software removal from microsoft, and even a hidden folder called msdownld.tmp.
Also, from what I understand the eRecovery files themselves are on a hidden partition...is that 'hidden partition' this 'acerdata' drive? If i somehow remove the partition, where do the files on this second drive go? If i perform an eRecovery again, will it reform the partition, or will it not even be able to perform a recovery due to the missing files?
Firstly I know very little on thsi kind of stuff so please excuse my lack of knowledge.
I've had my travelmate 5720 for about 4 months, and for as long as I have had it, it crashes when I play any kind of video. Not straight away, it may be after 2 minutes or after an hour. But if I'm playing a movie, its almost guaranteed to crash to a blue screen, and the system reboots. Its too random to try recreate the problem instantly, other than just playing a movie and...waiting.
I bought an Acer Aspire one, it is perfect, it works perfectly when connecting to the internet if i have the power supply plugged in.
I take the power supply out and the screen dims.... no internet, or the internet i have is working, non working.....
I have tried the settings, i have tried redoing the wireless connection... its just not happening! Im close to taking it back to the shop as i have only had it three weeks!
A freinds Acer 5050 won't power up. He's has asked me to look at it. When tha AC power is connected there is still no indication of power no lights, No power.
I have tried all the followingRemoved battery & AC power held down start button for 15,20 & 30 seconds and retried
Tried several AC power supplies
Removed memory & Swopped around memory,Swopped memory
Have me a dead Acer Aspire 3680. My son was using it and it just went black, with no power and no signs of life.
I basically get nothing when I plug in the power and hit the power button. I removed the battery and tested with just the AC adapter. Still no signs of life. No LEDs, etc.
I completely disassembled the beast to see if the power board had the jack still securely attached and it is still fine.
I had the AC adapter tested, so it is fine.
So I guess my question is, how can I verify whether this is a problem with the MB/CPU or if it is a problem with the little power board not delivering power to the motherboard?
I can check for voltage at the battery charge pins. I'm seeing voltage on 3 of the 5 pins. The large one being ground, I'm assuming. Should I see voltage on the remaining 4?
I don't want to replace the MB/CPU and have it be the power board that is the problem, and vice-versa.
I'm having major trouble with my laptop (an Acer Aspire 3660) which is about 2 years old now. I don't know if there is a problem with the internal power socket or something else, but sometimes when it is plugged it just won't run off the mains or charge the battery. Sometimes I can get it to charge up, seemingly by rotating the power cord cable but at other times it will randomly go to battery even though absolutely nothing has moved, and sometimes it will go to battery power with the slightest little nudge. I don't think this could be related to the battery as the battery seems to work fine (although it does drain quickly I guess it's pretty old in laptop terms). Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions? I bought a new power cable (completely new including power pack and the plug end) but the problem still happens.
i just replaced my old ac adapter as there was a loose connection and you had to have the wire in a certain place for it to charge. now i just bought a new power adapter plugged it in and all was good for about an hour. then all of a sudden the laptop decided to switch it self to battery power then back to ac power then back to battery. so i was like ok this is strange. its seems to b completley random when it does it. sometimes it will go back to ac power othertimes it will stick on battery so i have take out the connecter and plug it back in and it will charge. i thought of maby taking tha battery out all together but then it just cuts out.
My Acer Aspire 5570 notebook suddenly shuts down, (Fully charged battery.) I was charging that time. But it suddenly shuts down, the light indicator for charging was no longer lighting. I try to power it on, but its doesn't , there light which indicates that I was charging was no longer lighting. The charger is okay.
I have a ES1-512 laptop bought that is showing a battery problem. It will run on mains power without problem however if mains power is removed it shuts down immediately. Also in the task bar the battery indicator is showing 74% available (plugged in, not charging).
