seems to happen when i'm in any application. it'll kick me out and i'll have a white screen with blue or purple vertical lines. bought new in June of this year and it's been happening almost daily for the past 3 months.
2 days ago, i finally decided to reinstall windows XP. i did this and i still have the problem and it seems to have gotten worse. just today i got the error 4 times! and the last time i just got a solid blue screen. it's never happened this often before.
i called dell tech support. they seem to think it's bad ram so they're sending me new ram to try out. it's not the BSOD... it just mostly the white w/ stripes screen or, like the last time, a solid blue screen... no text.
I have a pavilion dv6, working perfectly till I closed the lid ( probably a bit too hard :/ ) and then when I opened the lid these vertical white, red and green lines are there. And a black stripe at the bottom of the display. Also horizontal grey bars covering the start button completely.
I have these vertical lines in my screen that appear whenever the laptop screen is on. I have connected the laptop to an external monitor and the external monitor looks fine. I have taken a screenshot of my warranties from Dell if that will decipher whether or not the screen can be replaced.Â
A number of weeks ago my laptop began to show vertical white lines on the screen, it has gradually gotten worse and now it is unusable. I have fallen outside warranty (couple of months). I have not dropped the machine, nor allowed any liquid near the machine.
Suddenly today a one-inch wide white vertical stripe appeared down the screen of my Inspiron 9400 laptop, about a sixth of the way into the screen from the left side. There is simply no image in this space, regardless of the application. This includes Windows XP from boot-up onwards. The initial screen on start-up is not affected, however, which leads me to believe this is a software problem, rather than a hardware problem.
I have had my Inspiron for 4 1/2 years with no problems until today. How to correct this.
I have a inspiron 3520 laptop. A little over a year old. Lately my screen has been going white with black lines and swirls going through it. Sometimes it will clear right up and sometimes I have to restart the computer. I have tried installing My Dell Client but it will not install.
My screen recently started getting a lot of faded white lines going horizontal and vertical across my screen causing the screen to blur/disorientated my screen. I can still navigate just fine but there is clearly something wrong here. I've plugged it into my hdmi's port on my tv and the image is just fine. Is it a wiring problem maybe? The lines are getting slightly more extreme and a little more colored... They lines of windows extend around the border all the way to the end if the screen.
I have 4 vertical lines almost equal distance apart on about 1/5 of the left of my screen on my Dell Inspiron 9300.
My assumption is the video card. I believe a soda got on it and that the previous owner tore it down and attempted to allow it to dry.
I have an old Dell Inspiron 8100 and wanted to ask if there was anyway that video card might fit the 9300? That would be a quick fix where it could be used immediately.
If not, I would really like to mod it out, but have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Any ideas or proper parts to look into would be greatly appreciated. Add speed, get better video, etc. Can I purchase a different motherboard that would fit inside?
i have a Hp laptop and The problem is that i just turned on my computer few week ago a Yellow line vertically ran down my screen,i knew it was something bad but now i have 3 and its becoming a problem...
I have a Dell E4300.A few days ago 2 vertical lines appeared on my screen, now there are around 10, different colors and sizes. When i press on the bottom of my display, where is the Dell logo, they disappear.I removed the display cover and, i think, the problem is the band in the middle, not the flex band connected to the motherboard.
Can the bottom of the display be changed? Is something like an inverter, but my screen is LED, so i belive that is a different mechanism. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the display?I checked with an external monitor, it works fine.
As others with x230's have found, I have an issue with the screen fading/graying out then developing vertical lines over the entire screen. Pressing the screen bottom screen border resolves it for a split second then it occurs again, though resolves usually after pressing it at various points along the plastic lower edge maybe 3-6 times, sometimes with slight flickering of whites after. Runngin at 60hz. URL... Â I bought it on ebay so don't have any warranty information, unfortunately. It appears to be the LCD connector or cable. Is it possible to open it up and fix that somehow, or should I buy an IPS screen (the current screen isn't IPS I believe) and replace it myself?
I have had my Acer since new (about 2 years), not having any problems with it whatsoever, until recently, when it decided that upon displaying dark (black, grey etc) background it will intermittently flash white vertical lines across the screen.
Since it is out of warranty I have had it looked up by a repair company, which have said it was the screen connection cables that were at fault. That helped the problem for about a month, after which it reappered.
I have repeated the process then - the company replaced the connections, but this time it didn't help at all.
As this is happeneing randomly I am now asking, what could be the casue of such a fault,, if anyone has any idea. If there are any questions I will respond to the best of my knowledge.
I have made a short video that shows exactly what happens [url]
After a few years of good service, I noticed a white vertical patch about ½" thick on my E1705 yesterday. It's always there whenever the screen is on.
I haven't connected the laptop to an external monitor yet to completely rule out graphics card issue, but it seems like a screen issue to me. Last year I had a graphics card issue (garbled screen) and Dell replaced it under warranty but it's out of warranty this time ......
I have encountered vertical lines on the lower half of my screen and it is always there. When you reboot, it comes up right away. I read where someone else had the same problem and it would come and go at will..
I'm pretty sure that my LCD screen is shot, and unfortunately, the warranty on this notebook expired in october, so sending it to SONY for repair is completely out of the question (They want $500 when I paid $900 for this notebook, it's absolutely not worth it)
That leaves me with the option of replacing the screen on my own.
Ordering a screen through Sony Parts Direct would cost me around $250, while getting a cheap third party replacement off of ebay for around $75 dollars. I don't really care either way as long as the computer works for at least another year.
So my questions would be,
1) Has anyone ordered a replacement screen off of ebay before, and what was the quality like?
and
2) Where can I find the disassembly, repair instructions for this computer on the Sony website?
What could be the problem with my screen? I have these vertical lines that are multi-colored!! Has my computer crashed? If so can I get my information off the hard drive, and how much does that normally cost?
I just cleaned my laptop with wet wipes and when I turned it on, it wont start anymore it just displays from black to colored vertical lines going white. Is it just wet or will it come back to normal when i just wait?
My Dell XPS 15z model laptop display screen is suddenly turning to noising with vertical and horizontal scattered color lines. This is happening every 15 to 30 min and when the mouse cursor is activating after automatically resuming the screen normally.
I have a dell Inspiron n5010 laptop and use it for personal works and photo editing as a photographer. when I watch a picture, in some specific zoom levels there are weird vertical and horizontal lines witch create many regular squares in the picture. it's not matter what software display it for me (it happens in every photo browsers I have and even in firefox) here you can see them (this picture is taken by Prntscr Button):
here you can see that little squares witch is annoying for me as a photographer! these squares goes away if i zoom in more! but some times squares are bigger like this: (same photo) as you can see it looks like some sort of distortion! and here you can see the same photo when it is displayed normally: my own guess is some sort of GPU problem!what I should do to get rid of these squares? some of my laptop specs are as follow: Dell Inspiron 15 (N5010) Laptop CPU: intel core i5 2.8
I am getting a white screen with some light blue horizontal lines. I've do a hard shut down and restart but same result. At one point I did see half of the normal start up screen but it faded away to white.
I have a screen problem on my Laptop, on start-up it shows a white screen with black lines (Picture below) only happens once every 5-10 start-ups. Only happens for 5-10 Secs & sorts itself out before it boots up.
Other time it happens is when I'm using the internet, the screen just sticks, but then when I move the screen, it stops.
I have a 1 year old dell inspiron 5520 and about a month or two back, the display started showing white lines at the top and bottom. One day, it stopped working and we gave it to this tech guy. He replaced the motherboard and battery(The laptop worked but was noticeably slower). The white lines still existed and the screen started jumping up and down. Changing the refresh rate worked temporarily. And then my mother gave it to the tech guy again. She got suspicious of him and asked him to return it. And he did but now, the laptop display won't boot and there's the 8 beeps. I connected the laptop to our properly working PC monitor to see if it was the laptop's display's fault. But, it still gives 8 beeps and the monitor shows a blank black screen.
I have the same thing, still external monitor works.
The question is that I still have warranty? my dell warranty expires the past august so I dont have dell warranty. Still I read that GPU warranty is extended one more year.
I bought a Dell Studio 15 last week. It arrived yesterday and the first thing I noticed when I turned it on was that there are tiny vertical lines all over the screen. They're not always visible, mainly just on brighter colours.
They're not colourful lines, they're almost transparent. It's definatly not the same lines caused by the overheating problem in the XPS series. These look a lot different .....
I have an xps2 that has gone thru about 5 screens over its extended warranty (all vertical lines) now 1 month out of warranty the latest replacement is getting lines.
how to get dell to replace it or is it just sop to just replace with defective parts til the warranty runs out?
I have vertical lines on my m1330 but not the same kind that I keep finding in my searches.
My computer doesn't crash, it just has a few lines up and down the screen when I boot and they stay there.
A bit of history, the computer was dropped by the previous owner (one of my coworkers) and the screen was broken so I bought a replacement LCD for it and swapped it out.
Worked great for two weeks until I got the lines. Its still functional, the lines are just annoying and I'm worried about a burn in. I tried taking the screen apart again and checking my connections but the lines are still there
got a Dell XPS M1710 when i start the computer i get green vertical lines, but when i go into safe mode i dont see the green lines anymore but when i try to start windows normally i just get a black screen after the Microsoft screen, i have posted images below.
I just bought a dv6-2190us and I love the laptop but the screen quality is horrible.
In white areas of the screen, instead of the display being pure white, it is grainy instead, with very faint vertical lines running up and down the screen, becoming more noticable as the viewing angle changes vertically. This drives me crazy as I work with text for a living and screen quality is critical to me.
The screen quality of $399 Compaq CQ60 is head and shoulders above this.
I've tried calibrating the screen, verifying that it's in native resolution, etc, etc to no avail.
I dont think the problem is isolated to my laptop because I checked some other dv6's at bestbuy and saw the same problem.
