I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 and whenever im idle or i close my computer, it would not wake up but instead show me a black screen. Every single time i have to hard reset my computer.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with the screen of my laptop. had bought the laptop jus 3 days back.. :( the problem I am facing is that... once I close my lid and open in in a few seconds, it still gives me a blck scree which does not respond. however If the let the lid be closed for a longer period life 10 sec it works normally. Previously today I experienced an other issue, that was, once I closed the lid and opened it back, it gave me a black screen with one bright spot. bt this was gone after pressing the power button a few times.

I would like to be able to do that because I usually keep my laptop lid closed, so the power button is not immediately accessible. I've searched the forums here and found similar issues with other models, and at least with the Inspiron 17R the problem was recently resolved with a BIOS update. I had no issues when using the same USB mouse and keyboard on an old XPS 8000.

If I go into an Administrator command prompt, I get the following:

From what I've been able to find online, I should be able to enable "Allow this device to wake the computer" in the Power Management tab of various devices in Device Manager, especially the USB Root Hub devices, and possibly the Logitech USB and Microsoft keyboard devices. I assume if I can get that enabled, things might work as expected.
I have a new Inspiron 15 (3521) running Windows 8.
I'm using it as a desktop replacement, so it's got an external keyboard/mouse/monitor plugged in, it's plugged into AC power, and I keep the lid closed.
I have the Windows power management set up so that if the laptop is on AC power, it should never go to sleep. I also have it so that if the lid is closed, nothing should happens.
So here's the problem: If I manually tell Windows to sleep, after I wake it up again, it'll go back to sleep on its own after 2 minutes of no activity. It'll keep doing that, until I open the lid and close it again, and then there won't be any problem until the next time I manually put Windows to sleep again. I can reproduce the problem every time. I'm not sure why it does this, or why it chooses 2 minutes of idle time before sleeping.
I've got the most recent BIOS and all the latest drivers from Dell.
Is this a known bug? Or is there something I'm missing? I couldn't find anything else in the Windows power management control panel, nor in the Intel graphics settings utility.
My USB ports are black as well. I have an older printer and got message saying it should be plugged into a 2.0 port. So I tried the one on the right. My computer is windows 8.1 Inspiron 3521.

It was working properly, but suddenly it went off and when i restarted it, there was nothing which appeared on screen, but there was a beep sound which went on until i turned my laptop off. Even the startup screen didnt appeared during this. The power button lights up, fan is running, but the screen is not coming up.

I have also tried draining the battery and recharging then rebooting but nothing happened. It is completely unresponsive. When adjusting the lid on a Dell Isnpiron 11, the screen goes black. It will come back if I move the screen enough. If the screen is stationary, it's no problem. This seems like a loose connection?
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I fired up my dv6 Pavilion 3240us and it did something weird. The colors are sort of out of whack. Bright white area show as Cyan and dark areas (black) are a sort of Burgundy or deep red. I can adjust the contrast down a little and the brightness down to -13 and the cyan mostly goes away, but the dark areas are even more more red.
I update the Catalyst app and drivers and did a complete update of Windows 7 (which took around 24 hours and it still wants more time) to no avail.
How did it happen? One day it was working perfectly and it shut down normally. The next day it was screwed up. Nothing happened to the machine between those times. I would show you pictures but I've found that screenshots of it look normal on other machines, eg: my desktop.
At one point yesterday when I tried playing a game on it the problen suddenly cleared up. That lasted for a few minutes before reverting the the screwed up state.
I am writing this on it; it does work. But trying to look at videos or most pictures or games it looks really wild, many times too strange to see what's going on.
I am having issues with my Dell 5547 laptop. There is a roughly 1cm border all around the screen which wasn't there before and I noticed it now as my taskbar is adjusted 1cm up but when I put google chrome in full screen it sort of chops the top bar down a bit.
I noticed through google searches other people have had similar issues with Dell laptops however I can't seem to find a solution because every time I try to turn off the "maintain display scaling" it won't let me turn it off.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 17 Inch Inspiron R Se that I purchased in January...it has started booting to a black screen...if I press the power button again to turn it off then back on it boots fine...it is very annoying seeing as it is almost new...I had the same issue a couple of weeks after getting it and did the computer renew thing which fixed it (until now) but I don't want to do that again as I have a ton of stuff on it now that I don't want to mess with and have to reload etc...
I tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing...ran the diagnostics and everything passed.
I have a dell M5030 that has a black screen on start up. The screen is on but just black - I don't even get the Bios screen. I've tried taking the battery out and hold the power button for 2 minutes. After that I tried holding D and the power button but there was to change. I tried an external monitor which did not work either. There are no beeps. It if I leave the laptop switched on for a few mins I hear the windows start up tune.
